**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Mar 27 02:59:58 2013 Mar 27 10:42:43 hi Mar 27 16:39:40 a very silly, quick question (yes, I searched and found nothing about this): has anyone started a port to the older series of ipod touch devices? Mar 27 16:40:28 MrNobody, not that I know of. Mar 27 16:40:55 hmm... (eyeballs daughter's unused ipod touch)... Mar 27 16:42:37 thank you Mar 27 16:43:11 you are welcome Mar 27 22:15:04 ho! Mar 27 22:27:37 Hey guys... I was just wondering if Open webOS supports LunaCE's taller dashboard notifications. Mar 27 22:46:17 Anyone around? Mar 27 23:34:48 good morning all Mar 27 23:35:07 good morning?? Mar 27 23:35:30 how are you? Mar 27 23:35:48 thanks fine and you? Mar 27 23:36:02 do you know more about WebOS than me? :) Mar 27 23:37:05 I have no idea how much you know about webos Mar 27 23:37:48 not much. never tried. just know that it has good keyboard phone but not as good sync options as PalmOS Mar 27 23:37:53 I would like to think I know a decent amount about it, but I'm not blind to the fact that there are numerous amounts of people with a wealth of knowledge greater than my own Mar 27 23:38:13 never used it? Mar 27 23:38:18 no Mar 27 23:38:36 out of curiousity, what brought you to this particular channel? Mar 27 23:39:03 i would like to figure out how active the development currently is Mar 27 23:39:34 Of what in particular? Our specific project or openwebos? Mar 27 23:39:34 there are some new cellphone OS coming along but none of them seems to have good keyboard support so i wonder if OpenWebOS will have Mar 27 23:39:44 yes about this project Mar 27 23:39:55 are you a developer yourself? Mar 27 23:40:03 but as far as i noticed there are only ports to android phones without keyboard :( Mar 27 23:40:36 Our only announced projects are for non-keyboard devices. Mar 27 23:40:46 ahem.. well i do some visual basic and php, so i won't be any big help :( Mar 27 23:41:06 I was mainly asking because of your acclimation to github Mar 27 23:41:18 as an easy way to follow the project Mar 27 23:41:47 but why is it? as far as i noticed the WebOS phones released by HP and Palm had Keyboards, so WebOS should be fine for keyboard phones too, isn't it? Mar 27 23:42:15 phones like the HTC Chacha or Motorola Pro Plus would be a nice shape for that - but i guess motorola might have a hard locked bootloader or something like that Mar 27 23:44:08 There are numerous factors taken into consideration when choosing target devices. How prolific the devices are "in the wild" as well as the specific hardware specs can be some of those factors. Mar 27 23:45:23 hmm. but i hope that OpenWebOS will run on devices with hardware keyboards too without losing its specific support Mar 27 23:45:55 Keep in mind the openwebos project and the webos-ports project, while related, are not the same projeect Mar 27 23:46:29 ah yes, ok Mar 27 23:47:04 but another question: with all the OS coming alone for phones now. what makes it interesting for you to chose this one to work on? Mar 27 23:49:46 Other than the fact that I've been a webOS user since the day it was released? Mar 27 23:50:06 ah ok. and why did you chose that? Mar 27 23:50:25 because the sync options were better than PalmOS Mar 27 23:50:35 they are?? Mar 27 23:50:46 Yes. Mar 27 23:51:01 or at least historically have been Mar 27 23:51:13 oh i thought they are worse because on Palm OS it was possible to sync with a lot of 3rd party software by just hitting one button Mar 27 23:51:24 so this is possible on WebOS too? Mar 27 23:51:51 with Synergy Mar 27 23:52:18 it's mostly automatic rather than tethered to a PC Mar 27 23:52:31 over wifi or cellular connection Mar 27 23:52:54 at this point, however, it's pretty common for most OS options. Mar 27 23:52:57 and this supports PC conduits? Mar 27 23:57:52 LarrySteeze: Synergy looks more like a message center to me than a sync service Mar 28 00:11:31 s6581: I believe the nexus devices were chosen for their open drivers Mar 28 00:11:47 disclaimer, I am not a webos developer Mar 28 00:13:15 also webos is interesting to work with for it's window manager. It's downright fantastic Mar 28 00:13:43 ok this sounds interesting Mar 28 00:13:47 but what about the sync? Mar 28 00:13:52 what sync? Mar 28 00:13:57 or, syncing what rather Mar 28 00:15:59 s6581: Are you asking about synergy? Mar 28 00:19:49 yes Mar 28 00:20:02 because larry said that WebOS has a good sync Mar 28 00:20:12 but i didnt find anything that is as good as HotSync was Mar 28 00:34:15 s6581: There is nothing like hotsync on webos. Synergy is the webos sync central of sorts. You add accounts (google, facebook, etc..) and it syncs selected data to/from those accounts and your phone. Mar 28 00:34:38 direct PC syncing isn't supported as far as I know Mar 28 00:41:55 ah ok :( Mar 28 00:42:10 yep that synergy sounds more like a message central Mar 28 00:42:19 maybe like that one on the new blackberry system Mar 28 00:43:45 ok i'll go to bed. bye Mar 28 00:44:47 never used a blackberry Mar 28 00:44:50 so... maybe **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Mar 28 02:59:58 2013
