Dec 09 03:03:35 Can't dislose that Dec 09 03:03:35 well, keep us posted on if it works Dec 09 03:03:35 is it still possible to preview your UI in webkit or is that verboten? Dec 09 03:03:36 got my replacement today, yay my phone is alive again Dec 09 03:03:36 all of us devs want to know an advertising revenue model is possible (profitable) Dec 09 03:03:36 punzada: yay Dec 09 03:03:37 natenrb9: it's profitable. Dec 09 03:03:37 more than just selling an app that is Dec 09 03:03:37 natenrb9: you need the right app(s) Dec 09 03:03:38 If you can get a deal with a decent web service provider, then anything is possible on the CPM side Dec 09 03:03:38 I guess the best question to be answered is if it is better to make the type of apps you can sell or the type of apps you can advertise on Dec 09 03:03:51 natenrb9: shotgun approach, try some of each Dec 09 03:04:09 yeah Dec 09 03:04:20 I'm about to re-spin one of my ad test apps into a $.99 and submit to the catalog before the free time ends Dec 09 03:04:22 Most important thing is to have a name behind you Dec 09 03:06:24 All I had to do was contact a few ad networks, described the program, described the webservice, and the current traffic (26 million unique page hits a month, 10 million unique registered users per month), and they gave me a deal Dec 09 03:06:48 well with those numbers... Dec 09 03:07:09 that is what your site is getting? so I guess your app ties to your site then... Dec 09 03:07:30 It's not "my" site. I partnered with the site to make the app Dec 09 03:07:35 ah Dec 09 03:07:38 sweet Dec 09 03:08:00 Ad revenue gets split, 70/30 up to $5000, then 50/50 Dec 09 03:08:13 with the site? " Dec 09 15:50:17 how do i get 1) abc and 2) needthis Dec 09 15:51:03 swisstomcat: I think there is a getAttribute type of method in prototype, so you could use that to get the class 'abc' Dec 09 15:51:15 oh Dec 09 15:51:28 if you know ahead of time what the class name is, you can say 'element.hasClassName('abc')' Dec 09 15:51:51 not really Dec 09 15:52:15 i get the elements with getElementsByTagName('p') Dec 09 15:52:33 i have everything with innerHTML, but that doesn't help much Dec 09 15:52:38 no Dec 09 15:52:45 you want to use something like 'value' Dec 09 15:52:52 or textValue Dec 09 15:53:04 can't remember which...it gets the 'text node' inside your tag Dec 09 15:53:12 i'll try it Dec 09 15:53:45 bah, I hate meetings Dec 09 15:54:12 bah, it's all "undefined" Dec 09 15:54:26 sugardave: meetings are usually a waste of time Dec 09 15:54:30 indeed Dec 09 15:55:08 oh Dec 09 15:55:11 it's nodeValue Dec 09 15:56:31 and element.getAttribute('class') should do what I described...the text piece is a little harder to do, I usually just regex it out of the whole thing Dec 09 15:59:12 hmm, something to think about (using regex) Dec 09 15:59:24 firstChild.nodeValue works for some Dec 09 16:01:28 getAttribute('class') works perfectly, thanks Dec 09 16:03:04 regex is your friend Dec 09 16:08:48 too bad i don't know regex well Dec 09 16:09:03 www.regexlib.com Dec 09 16:09:06 best friend Dec 09 16:09:19 swisstomcat: let me know what u trying to get Dec 09 16:09:25 and ill right up the syntax for u Dec 09 16:10:22 the html is "

Dec 09 16:15:36 swisstomcat: do you have the link to the html page Dec 09 16:15:37 I think he's parsing each one individually Dec 09 16:15:41 but, yeah Dec 09 16:16:04 (.*?) would probably make it less greddy Dec 09 16:16:12 hmm Dec 09 16:16:32 childNodes[j].nodeValue works too Dec 09 16:16:38 (.*)?, instead? I'm still learning regex, too ;) Dec 09 16:19:05 yea use (.*?) Dec 09 16:19:33 it stops it from picking up stuff after the stuff u need Dec 09 16:20:19 so it will look like this Dec 09 16:20:19

<\/a>(.*?)<\/p> Dec 09 16:20:36 replace whatever u need with (.*?) Dec 09 22:15:07 ah Dec 09 22:15:18 stennant and I are trying an experiment. Dec 09 22:15:30 are there luna-send commands for all the built-in apps? Dec 09 22:15:44 they're just undocumented? Dec 09 22:15:49 ok back Dec 09 22:16:00 Well, every application has commands that are run by the app itself. Dec 09 22:16:17 Every application's commands should also be available to luna-send. Dec 09 22:16:26 That's what luna-send does, to my knowledge. Dec 09 22:17:25 The ultimate question is "Is the palm Pre fully functionable through the command line. Dec 09 22:17:43 Dial a number, send a text message, etc. Dec 09 22:17:51 if so where would these commands be Dec 09 22:31:05 ok back Dec 09 22:31:14 stennant: what is ur questions Dec 09 22:35:54 Is the palm Pre fully functionable through the command line. Dec 09 22:36:06 if so where would these commands be Dec 09 22:39:21 not fully functional Dec 09 22:42:30 couldnt you theoretically do everything via luna-send commands? Dec 09 22:42:41 yeae most of of them Dec 09 22:43:44 lol, pipe espeak into /dev/dsp (or whatever the mike is) to call people from the pre remotely via the commandline. that would be kind of awesome, actually Dec 09 23:01:59 does anyone know the mCraig package id Dec 09 23:11:24 how does the calendar app achieve it's dynamic icon? Dec 09 23:12:03 it has all the images in a folder .. Dec 09 23:12:14 and tells Luna to reload the image based on the time of day and some reload icon image event Dec 09 23:12:26 It cheats, in other words. Dec 09 23:12:40 indeed it does Dec 09 23:12:54 Now what would be cool, is if you could somehow build a plugin using an NPAPI, that would actually make an icon dynamic Dec 09 23:13:26 or just have the icon have a stylesheet associated with it, right ? Dec 09 23:13:35 is it special-cased to the calendar app? If I'm willing to go outside documented APIs, can I do it for my own app? Dec 09 23:13:48 sjanssen: no idea .. give it a shot and try it out ? Dec 09 23:14:12 bpadalino: yep, looks like some research was in order. Dec 10 00:26:06 Easy, no, but you might be able to do it with the charsAllowed function. Dec 10 00:26:17 Check to see how many characters it currently has, if it's too many, return false. Dec 10 00:26:32 (Unless there's an easy way I don't know about. :) ) Dec 10 00:27:11 geeze... that is a pain. Dec 10 00:27:21 i just want two widgets in a row Dec 10 00:27:51 Well, that won't do that anyway. Dec 10 00:27:53 i'd like to stick em in a table Dec 10 00:28:06 Maybe try setting a width on a containing div? Play with the HTML. Dec 10 01:58:38 * rkguy is checking his patches Dec 10 02:01:25 ok i got the: autoreplace words, 4x4 icons, add date, close on hangup, command line, gesture click for browser, headset vibrate track advance, keytoss, multi mod, slider blocks orientation change in browser, and snooze duration selection for the calendar. I should note that I *think* this was also happening before I patched it but of course can't remember. Dec 10 02:04:02 zsoc: I don't see anything that should really hit the youtube player in particular... I am going to check the PC threads. P.S. thanks for your response. Dec 10 02:05:15 rkguy: np, sometimes, unfortunately, there's something unexpected going on in the background. My troubleshooting steps start 1st with capturing from dbus to see if there are any funny things happening with services.. and then i go to stracing lunasysmgr... but both of those things are topics in and of themselves Dec 10 02:07:07 ahh. that is something I haven't even fathomed yet. Searching ftw ;) Dec 10 02:08:46 btw, i have the YT downloads patch they mention in the thread and get no problems whatsoever... Dec 10 02:09:03 except having too many videos on my device which i cannot delete from the device itself :-p Dec 10 02:10:22 Hmm....definitely not a huge thread so I'll assume it's a device issue, especially considering istojic doesn't have the problem. Dec 10 02:10:57 I'll see if it happens after 1.3.5 (isn't that coming out soon) Dec 10 02:11:05 * rkguy is thankful for the help :D Dec 10 02:11:43 can anyone clarify something for me: if i understand the API and the dev docs in general, i can only use the #{name} html templating within a List widget? there's no way to link the data model to the whole view / use templating for the whole scene view? Dec 10 02:11:56 (i might be reading it wrong, it's 3:10am...) Dec 10 02:13:06 Bmyers: dunno. put it in the pocket of my coat while playing bball at the Y.
