Oct 30 04:21:03 * EricBlade sighs. my web server windows install blowed up, and it trashed both the usb key and the cd that i tried to get into repair it iwth.. but not until after the repair process was partially completed, causing the boot sector of the hard drive to be trashed too.

Oct 30 04:22:24 <EricBlade> ka6sox: i'm assuming some sort of physical thing happened to it. i don't see any visible marks on it, but it now complains that i386krnl is missing from the cd.  two computers that i've tried it in say that.  it worked fine on the first boot.

Oct 30 04:29:57 <EricBlade> my intent originally was to give it win 7, so i copied win7 to a usb key, made it bootable, plugged it in, and nothing happened.  took the key back to my main computer, it says "you need to format this disk before using it." i said wha? i hit ok, it says it can't detect the proper sector size for the disk now and won't format it.
