**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Nov 07 02:59:58 2013 Nov 07 16:49:57 Anyone awake in here? Nov 07 16:51:23 I'm trying to figure out if I can get my Pixi to grab internet from my Android phone over BT? No luck in finding this info online yet. Nov 07 16:57:46 uh Nov 07 16:57:56 hmm Nov 07 16:58:03 i don't think you can, over bluetooth. Nov 07 16:58:05 wifi, sure. Nov 07 16:58:11 but i don't think it can do it over bluetooth. Nov 07 17:04:36 Yeah most of the development seems to be with traffic going the other way. I can't be the only guy that would find this useful. Nov 07 17:05:12 If only there was PDAnet for WebOS. Nov 07 17:14:22 you should pop into #webos-ports and ask them to add it to the suggestion list as we re-write webos from the ground up Nov 07 17:46:07 Ports looks like a different idea than what I was hoping for. But I checked it out and it did remind me that I never donated so I gave a few shekels. I really think that there is a possibility to extend the life of WebOS as a secondary device. The port process seems cool but I don't think I could ever go back to WebOS as my main platform; even with Nov 07 17:46:07 Windows Phone 8 the developer support isn't enough that I can make it my primary. Nov 07 17:47:48 sure, i hear that. Nov 07 17:48:00 Even if someone made the Pixi work as a handsfree headset I think it would be popular. If everyone has 5" phones a smaller device makes sense for holding to your ear. Nov 07 17:48:02 we're doing a lot of work. once we get it stable, we can start talking an app/dev ecosystem again Nov 07 17:48:57 Well I hope that you are getting some help from LG, although I never heard of them as developer friendly. Nov 07 17:48:58 the donation is appreciated. (i don't get a dime. all my time is donation based) Nov 07 17:49:09 LG is a bit busy with their own stuff. Nov 07 17:49:19 so, not. we're not, right now. Nov 07 17:50:00 morning Nov 07 17:50:59 hey oc80z Nov 07 20:34:00 whats new? Nov 07 20:34:14 where is rwhitby :( Nov 07 20:34:33 aah hes in internals :D Nov 07 20:34:40 neat. Nov 07 20:34:43 whats new here? Nov 07 22:28:54 hey oc80z. what's up? Nov 07 23:17:22 Okay so I've made a small amount of progress with the Bluetooth PAN. It isn't on the AT&T Pixi Plus but is on the Verizon Pixi Plus. Thankfully I have one of each :) So far I have my Nexus 7 broadcasting Bluetooth Tether and it is paired to my Verizon Pixi but I can't get the connection active. It seems that if I mess with the shell/terminal I can Nov 07 23:17:23 accomplish this but I am completely unfamiliar with using it. Any advice on where to learn how to use WebOS shell/terminal or whatever it is? I understand I can't get it fixed immediately but any direction towards what I should learn would be appreciated. Nov 07 23:18:07 well, webos is linux. Nov 07 23:18:38 you *probably* just need to `echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward` Nov 07 23:18:44 buuuuuuuuut i don't know. i don't have one to teset. Nov 07 23:18:46 -e Nov 07 23:22:52 Okay. So can I do that on device, or do I need to SSH in? Nov 07 23:24:25 Oops nevermind. Now I am on the right track. Thanks for your help and patience. Nov 07 23:28:31 Sorry I'm in way over my head. Linux is completely foreign to me so I'm trying to learn everything from square one. I was hoping for some shortcuts but considering my specific use case it was a long shot. I'm looking at dummies guides now. Nov 07 23:31:49 :) Nov 07 23:32:11 http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Ip_forward Nov 07 23:32:45 http://downloadsquad.switched.com/2011/01/06/enable-tethering-on-your-palm-pre-or-pixi-with-freetether/ Nov 07 23:32:53 i think freetether has a switch for it Nov 07 23:33:00 http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Application:FreeTether Nov 08 00:47:58 Well crap I forgot about this. http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/6/4402404/update-or-die-hp-issuing-mandatory-patch-to-save-webos-device-services Now I have to deal with another hiccup. Is there a place where the Palm App Catalog has been duplicated? Nov 08 01:24:47 just roll back the time on your device and do the update Nov 08 01:28:41 It won't let me sign in even after I roll back the time. I was assuming that the App Catalog was finally taken offline. Nov 08 01:29:59 It just says "Signing in..." Nov 08 01:30:24 Okay that's my luck; it works once I ask you about it. Nov 08 01:30:27 my touchpad is able to view the app catalog Nov 08 01:30:29 :) Nov 08 01:31:46 Is there a time-frame that is known for how long Palm Profiles and App Catalog will still be around? Nov 08 01:31:56 no idea. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Fri Nov 08 02:59:58 2013
