It contained an Ericsson card which wasn't great in terms of speed. I replaced it with a Sierra 7710 in mine and that gave quite a speed boost ;) https://pivotce.com/2014/01/27/the-search-for-real-4g-on-the-touchpad/ May 29 04:27:13 I got the 7710 working eventually with patching a few bytes in binary. You could possibly get a Sierra 7750 working with Verizon, but nobody has attempted that to my knowledge. May 29 04:28:00 I love hacking old tech to give it a new life May 29 04:28:33 Wonder if there's a way to do similar for the pre3/veer May 29 04:31:04 Not sure, I'm not sure what's the current state of various networks in the US. I understood AT&T wanted to get rid of 3G May 29 04:31:23 Touchpad 4G is fun, but it's a bit of a pain to open it up and put the card May 29 04:31:41 The TouchPad Go (which never was officially released) is a lot easier with a few torx screws ;) May 29 04:32:17 unfortunately though, without 4g I don't think i'll get too much use out of the veer. Out in my neck of the woods, if you don't have it, you only have a couple places where you'll get signal. A real shame, because after fiddling with the phone while waiting on the charger cable, I've grown quite attached to the layout/design. I found myself just yesterday trying to use gestures on my android. May 29 04:34:29 I did get a heat gun the other day with temperature settings, so I'll at least try to fix the pins on the sim tray. It's such a shame that the US is doing away with 2g/3g. May 29 04:36:39 Speaking of the touchpad, I saw an interesting video of someone upgrading the ram on one. I'm pretty sure however, that's not something you can do. Even if you got the soldering down right, every tablet bios has to be programmed to accept each configuration of ram. So, if the board was only ever intended to have one type, you wouldn't be able to update it past that configuration. May 29 04:51:13 slothman21: Yes the guy is on Twitter I think. GeorgeMari or something May 29 04:51:21 Not sure he ever got it to work fully May 29 13:50:21 mmm harrie, I think sumi forgot about it entirely :P **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat May 30 02:59:59 2020
