**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Mar 19 02:59:58 2013 Mar 19 07:53:53 kergoth: my mental todo worked this time! :) https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4053 Mar 19 07:53:54 Bug 4053: enhancement, Undecided, ---, richard.purdie, NEW , Contribute the contrib/vim files to vim Mar 19 09:35:45 morning all Mar 19 13:00:16 I have an issue with tar failing to chroot on do_populate_sysroot. Like this: http://codepad.org/1wucapRb Has anybody seen this or have an idea on what the problem may be? Mar 19 13:21:05 and when i said chroot, i meant chdir. sorry =) Mar 19 13:47:05 zibri: did your recipe install anything? Mar 19 13:47:15 bluelightning: yes Mar 19 13:47:37 it installs the expected script to /usr/bin of the native sysroot Mar 19 13:48:02 hi Mar 19 13:48:18 zibri: hang on a sec... are you able to pastebin your do_install? Mar 19 13:49:20 bluelightning: it uses autotools, but i can pastebin the recipe Mar 19 13:49:59 zibri: ok Mar 19 13:50:01 http://codepad.org/rVGyXk0W Mar 19 13:50:12 disregard the debug function :) Mar 19 13:53:05 zibri: I just tested it and as I suspected, it hasn't installed anything Mar 19 13:53:16 zibri: the ${WORKDIR}/image directory is empty Mar 19 13:53:18 which minimal kernel version is supported by OE-Core? Mar 19 13:53:54 hrw: out of the box, whatever the minimal kernel dependency of udev is would be the main issue Mar 19 13:53:59 I've used 2.6.something at least. haven't heard anyone try 2.4 or earlier though. Mar 19 13:54:10 bluelightning: but rather newer than 2.6.23? Mar 19 13:54:14 hrw: if you supply your own older version of udev and other pieces you'll be able to use an older kernel Mar 19 13:54:22 hrw: likely yes Mar 19 13:54:28 bluelightning: hum, thanks... my bad then. yet somehow it ended up in my tmp/sysroots/x86_64-linux Mar 19 13:54:37 bluelightning: I would like to move OE to use libtirpc instead of glibc rpc Mar 19 13:54:50 bluelightning: and for that I need 2.6.23 to be minimal ;D Mar 19 13:55:33 zibri: mine too, but it has installed directly into those directories which is not correct Mar 19 13:55:45 zibri: it needs to be installing into ${D} Mar 19 13:56:26 hrw: I'd suggest RFC it... I don't think that should be too much of an issue Mar 19 13:56:45 bluelightning: I plan to but first want to build images Mar 19 14:03:14 bluelightning: thank you for the help. :) Mar 19 14:07:40 zibri: np Mar 19 14:08:06 zibri: interesting that it's behaving this way though, ideally it would install to the correct location by default (it usually does) Mar 19 14:08:22 zibri: the error is quite nasty as well, I've filed a bug for that Mar 19 14:58:12 YPTM: I'm here Mar 19 14:58:51 * sgw_ YPTM: Saul is here and Chairing today Mar 19 14:58:57 YPTM: Polk is here Mar 19 14:59:28 YPTM: Beth is here. Mar 19 15:21:30 * zeddii drops the call. Mar 19 15:22:33 sgw -- I have one item.. Mar 19 15:23:54 darknighte: I only wish it were Irish pub bands. Evidently my earlier guess (not the band one) was correct. But RP wouldn't admit it Mar 19 15:24:25 RP is such a tease Mar 19 15:31:54 see ya Mar 19 15:32:06 YPTM: sgw_: bye all Mar 19 15:32:15 kergoth: pong Mar 19 15:35:47 is there a build-essential-alike recipe in yocto, with that once yocto is running I can build everything else on the target directly? Mar 19 15:36:21 nitink: er.. *thinks* Mar 19 15:36:50 ausxxh: the "tools-sdk" image feature will pull in the full toolchain Mar 19 15:37:10 aka, packagegroup-core-tools-sdk Mar 19 15:37:33 nitink: ah, right, what's the best contact point for meta-oracle-java, you directly? Mar 19 15:37:41 nitink: noticed there's no contribution info in its readme Mar 19 15:37:41 rburton: if I need extra header files/libraries I should add them to tools-sdk then? Mar 19 15:38:12 kergoth: I am in a conference now, can you please send me an email? Mar 19 15:38:34 ausxxh: no, use the "dev-pkgs" image feature to pull all headers for installed libraries. if you need a set of libraries, you can create a package group for those. Mar 19 15:38:40 nitink: sure, np Mar 19 15:39:10 rburton: cool, thanks! Mar 19 15:40:08 all included in core-image-lsb-sdk.bb Mar 19 15:44:08 rburton: still there? Mar 19 15:44:56 davest1: indeed. you're in summer time and we're not, its not even 4pm :) Mar 19 16:03:16 wait, am I early or late for yptm? Mar 19 16:03:24 curse you, DST! Mar 19 16:03:43 yes, late Mar 19 16:03:50 argh :-( Mar 19 16:04:36 Zagor: get a better calendar? :) Mar 19 16:05:24 what timezone is "native" for the meeting? Mar 19 16:05:32 song is in PST Mar 19 16:05:44 and he send the invite i have, so that will do for me. Mar 19 16:06:10 * rburton tries to remember why he wanted to speak to Zagor Mar 19 16:06:23 oh yes Mar 19 16:06:33 something that walters bought up, who isn't here Mar 19 16:10:13 kergoth: yes send the meta-oracle-java commits to YP mailing list ccing me, And I will update the readme Mar 19 16:10:25 rburton: what was it? Mar 19 16:10:57 Zagor: trying to dig a mail for context Mar 19 16:11:03 ah Mar 19 16:13:07 something about how walters is starting to push gnome towards standardised test output formatting Mar 19 16:13:19 and collaborating there with ptest would be interesting Mar 19 16:13:24 ping walters when you see him around Mar 19 16:13:53 ah, that sounds good. I will. Mar 19 17:02:20 * mranostay scrolls up two days Mar 19 17:17:30 damnit, forgot to prefix my polkit addition patch with meta-gnome Mar 19 17:19:33 * rburton looks nicely at jama and hopes he'll merge polkit to meta-gnome sooner rather than later (cookies, beer, etc) Mar 19 17:52:33 File "sanity.bbclass", line 22, in check_gcc_march(sanity_data=) Mar 19 17:52:37 OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'gcc_test' Mar 19 17:52:47 heh, it blindly tries to remove a file that it hasn't guaranteed will exist Mar 19 18:29:23 hi all, I'm new. I have a problem I am trying to workaround. I would like to use the standard type for a 3.4 kernel. However, I need the netfiler connection tracking kernel support to be build-in to the kernel. The standard 3.4 recipe adds the feature "netfilter" which forces nf_conntrack=m. What is the best way to work around this in my BSP receipe which is a .bbappend file based on the standard yocto 3.4 kernel. Mar 19 18:29:54 s/netfilter connection/netfilter configuration/ Mar 19 18:30:12 had it right the first time Mar 19 18:30:17 :-( Mar 19 19:14:00 Hum... I'm trying to build binutils-cross-2.22-r17 and it's failing at configure time with 'configure.ac:33: error: Please use exactly Autoconf 2.64 instead of 2.69.' It looks like 2.69 is the only version of autoconf available? Mar 19 19:14:13 am I missing something? Mar 19 19:17:37 a dumb question, why isn't meta-oe included in poky/yocto? Mar 19 19:17:53 thought meta-oe contains many "key" recipes that did not enter meta Mar 19 19:22:54 nova77: you can always force override the KERNEL_FEATURES variable in a bbappend. Mar 19 19:32:57 zeddii: Thanks for the reply. so in meta/recipes-kernel/linux/linux-yocto_3.4.bb we have KERNEL_FEATURES_append = " features/netfilter". In my bsp, I have a file called myBspName/recepes-kernel/linux/linux-yocto_3.4.bbappend in which I did a KERNEL_FEATURES = " cfg/smp.scc". This didn't seem to help. Did I do it wrong? Mar 19 19:35:39 I believe I also tried KERNEL_FEATURES_append_myBspName = " cfg/smp.scc" Mar 19 19:35:49 guess this is why I am here. Mar 19 19:37:49 Give me a few minutes and I'll send the right syntax, I have to spawn a build. Mar 19 19:38:12 I appreciate that. Mar 19 19:56:47 nova77: are you working out of master ? as you've noticed, since the features are appended onto the variable, they harder to override by design. the way that was left to clobber them is by simply creating your own configuration fragment, and appending it to the SRC_URI. that fragment is applied after the features, giving you a chance to change any value you want. Mar 19 20:14:53 zeddii: I have a two repo's setup. . I am using the yocto git repo and have the danny branch checked out. My bsp is in a different tree using a different private meta repo for my BSP layer. As for creating my own configuration fragment… I have a lot of the CONFIG values in myBsp.cfg which is called out in MyBSP.scc. However, netfilter.cfg is added after all my BSP kernel config defines. I get notification in Mar 19 20:14:53 linux/meta/cfg/standard/byBspName/redifinition.txt what netfilter is changing my NF_CONNTRACK=y desire back to a module. Are you saying I should install create my own netfilter.cfg file, modify it the way I like it and then include it via myBsp.scc? Will that place it ahead of the normal features/netfilter.cfg? Or should I create my own features/netfilter tree in my BSP layer? Mar 19 20:18:35 zeddii: for clarification. my .bbappend file has a SRC_URI string which contains myBsp.cfg. This cfg already contains my desired CONFIG_NF_CONNTRACK settings.. Mar 19 20:19:23 hmm. the features are definitely supposed to be applied first. they are in my tset. Mar 19 20:19:24 test Mar 19 20:19:25 however, features/netfilter.cfg is run afterwards and undoes what I defined Mar 19 20:19:50 if you are using master, there are more options. are you on master ? Mar 19 20:19:51 that is not what I have found. Mar 19 20:20:10 I'm on danny Mar 19 20:20:13 anyway. I have to head out, leave it with me and I'll get you a patch tomorrow. Mar 19 20:20:25 danny is going to be harder. Mar 19 20:20:36 dusty wants yocto 1.3. ;-) Mar 19 20:20:39 custy Mar 19 20:20:59 thanks for you help. Mar 19 20:21:01 easiest way. patch the recipe :P the _append's shouldn't be absolute, they've just never caused a problem before. Mar 19 20:21:15 but either way, I'll get you a change tomorrow. I just have to bolt to pick up some kids from school. Mar 19 20:21:35 np.. thanks.. glad to know I am not doing something wrong. Mar 19 20:21:48 have a safe trip Mar 19 20:22:19 if you drop me an email (bruce.ashfield@windriver.com), with a summary of the problem, I'll be sure to not forget :) Mar 19 22:01:52 rburton: beer sounds nice :) Mar 19 22:03:08 ausxxh: yocto is an umbrella project, and meta-oe is/should be mostly "compatible", so in a sense it is. Mar 19 22:03:25 poky is a small reference distro mainly for example/qa use, so it doesn't need what's in meta-oe Mar 19 22:03:35 and on that, i'm off Mar 19 22:03:38 g'night **** ENDING LOGGING AT Wed Mar 20 02:59:58 2013
