Oct 18 09:32:10 <ionte> hi. i'm working on a hardware product based on yocto which we hopefully will deliver thousands of the coming years. i'm a bit nervous about how firmware updates are handled. is there any established method handling yocto updates? i have not found much documentation... any hints appreciated
Oct 18 09:33:32 <ionte> for example, i'm not comfortable installing package updates on a running system. i would much prefer to wipe the entire system partition and have a fallback partition if that fails.
Oct 18 14:31:02 <fishey2> ionte: I'm not aware of any standard way of/system for handling safe updates. If you have enough space, rolling your own dual partition setup should work (similar to how chrome os manages it's updates)
