May 14 20:46:50 <kergoth> snouto: image != distro. the image just selects packages, it doesn't control what package manager is in use, or other aspects of distribution policy. in oe/yocto, we have three independent, orthogonal axes. machine, distro, and image. in general, any combination of machine, distro, and image should work.
May 14 20:47:30 <kergoth> beyond that, the package manager isn't what makes centos centos. there are tons of small decisions made by distribituion maintainers that makes that distro that distro. switching your distro for your embedded device to use rpm/yum won't make it centos. it might be more familiar to users of centos, however
