It allows an Angstrom image to boot with networking enabled (reusing the vendor Linksys network settings for the NSLU2). Mar 28 08:24:51 rwhitby: nice Mar 28 08:25:33 (well, it was the MokoSlug cut-down version of Angstrom, but that's simply the removal of the debug apps and the kernel image from the rootfs. Mar 28 08:26:42 koen: are there any other Angstrom targets which would benefit from such network pre-seeding on first boot? Mar 28 08:27:18 none that I know off Mar 28 08:28:04 ok, I won't worry about making it any more generic for the moment then. At least now it is orthogonal to SlugOS. Mar 28 08:28:04 rwhitby: is that taking the setings from the bootloader? Mar 28 08:28:43 XorA: it takes the settings from the Linksys SysConf partition, and stores any OE CONFFFILES back into that same mtd partition for future reinstallation after a complete rootfs reflash. Mar 28 08:29:08 so, for instance, your dropbear keys and root password are retained across rootfs reflashes. Mar 28 08:29:27 as is all your network settings, so you can reflash and ssh in straight away, Mar 28 08:30:07 it could easily be extended to get the settings from anywhere. for storing the settings, it just needs a small mtd partition. Mar 28 08:30:07 rwhitby: sweet Mar 28 08:30:18 rwhitby: that would work on spitz zauruses Mar 28 08:31:13 XorA: that has 16mb of flash left, right? Mar 28 08:31:23 XorA: I'm happy to work with anyone to make it more specific. the settings storage is a simple text file (in the NSLU2 format of key=value) and a cpio archive of all the CONFFILES Mar 28 08:31:33 s/more specific/more generic/ Mar 28 08:31:53 rwhitby: if I get any time I shall have to investigate, the spitz has a wasted 128M mtd Mar 28 08:32:10 XorA: a perfect use for it ... Mar 28 08:32:58 on reflash it sets up /etc/network/interfaces, /etc/resolv.conf, /etc/defaultdomain, /etc/hostname based on the saved settings. Mar 28 08:33:28 * XorA gueses that would be nice for openmoko as well Mar 28 08:33:40 and if any of the conffiles have changed, you get an ipkg-upgrade like dialog to diff/accept/refuse chanages. Mar 28 08:33:59 XorA: yeah, moko was one driver for separating it out from slugos. Mar 28 08:34:49 but it's got some way to go before it's in the right shape for that. Mar 28 08:36:24 http://www.openembedded.org/repo/org.openembedded.dev/packages/sysconf/files/conffiles is the set of files that it saves/restores by default. Mar 28 08:37:33 * rwhitby heads home from work - back later. Mar 28 09:52:21 <4>serial_cs: Unknown symbol serial8250_suspend_port Mar 28 09:52:26 hmm, happens here as well **** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Mar 28 10:36:56 2007 Mar 28 13:08:29 arse, latest Angstrom images turn screen off on startup of X11 Mar 28 13:10:55 XorA: sirfred found/fixed that bug in gpe-conf Mar 28 13:11:14 pH5: did no-one bump PR then? Mar 28 14:17:27 gpe can manage multiple frameworks (gpe, hildon, etc), so why can't o-hand/openmoko ?
