**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri May 23 02:59:57 2008 May 23 07:53:41 Crofton|work: pong May 23 07:57:38 ping May 23 09:50:21 I get so mixed up with different package managers. I keep typing macports port commands on my Z: port install libimlib2-1; port contents May 23 12:25:35 Hello there, hopefully someone knows an easy solution to my problem. I am observing OE for a while. I have a Zaurus Akita and I flashed yesterdays opie-image from .dev. The problem is I cannot click anything on the touchscreen. There is a pointer, and it it moving, put clicking actually has no effect. Also showing the pointer is new for me, maybe the pointer is the problem. Does somebody have an idea? May 23 12:28:05 is akita maintained/supported? May 23 12:28:30 *sigh* anstrom-distribution seems to be down May 23 12:29:48 we are definitely short on people using the zaurii May 23 12:30:10 capable of maintaining them May 23 12:30:41 ~ugt May 23 12:35:20 It is a pity, I like Zaurus. I wished, it could be better supported. What I could do, is some testing, actually I have 2 Akita, one which I am using with the original SharpRom, and one for trying out Angstrom and Openzaurus. May 23 12:36:10 good news. I have been picking up some of the c7x0 stuff May 23 12:37:33 joerg, > if you could just try things and then stick them in the bugtracker that would be great May 23 12:39:25 actually I did that for the .stable branch. I switched to .dev because in the stable branch the CF-card is broken since r13, (about 1-2 month) May 23 12:40:08 joerg: oops that must be a regression. I wonder what patch has been missed or failed to be included May 23 12:43:56 when you point me to a package, I could compare the patches from .dev and .stable. Is it the kernel or maybe zaurusd? May 23 12:46:03 joerg, > so what is broken? is it the automount or is it the kernel? I.e. when you push the card in the socket do you get any dmesg output? Have any modules crashed on boot? May 23 12:47:29 I do not get any update of dmesg, when inserting/removing several cards in CF-slot. SD-slot seems to work... atleast there are some messages May 23 12:48:08 how do I check if modules crashed (I am no linux expert, but I am trying..)? May 23 12:48:25 dmesg May 23 12:49:07 and look for tracebacks, there are usually several-line entires with the name of the module that crashed and lots of memory addresses in hex May 23 12:50:53 ok, one minute, I will flash yesterdays .stable-branch opie-image May 23 12:51:30 joerg, Thanks, and stick as much as you can in the bugreport and I shall take a look at it. What bug number was it? May 23 12:54:28 it is bug report 4136 May 23 12:55:40 adding it to my bug list May 23 12:55:56 away all next week so don't expect a quick fix (and I don't know if I can fix it!) May 23 13:00:00 right, goodbye May 23 13:00:25 thank you very much, at least I have some hope now. May 23 13:20:40 odd May 23 13:21:00 i just started installing gpsd a few mins ago on my zaurus, then the screen turned off and i had to reboot it to get it back May 23 13:21:27 tried to ipkg install gpsd again, and it couldn't find the file and said to run ipkg update, so i did, now it says there are missing deps on gpsd May 23 13:21:35 did i hit it in the middle of an update? heh May 23 13:26:48 which Zaurus are you using. I am also planning to used gpsd, but with Angstrom I have above mentioned problems with my Akita, and with Sharprom, mz GPS-card is not accepted May 23 13:28:10 spitz May 23 13:28:19 i just got a bluetooth gps unit May 23 13:29:15 I have a CF-GPS and akita. (Navilock NL306C) May 23 13:29:35 and i have a BT card that works with both sharprom and angstrom, so that bit i'm not too worried about May 23 13:29:50 though i can't seem to get rfcomm to create a device for both my phone(modem) and the GPS at the same time May 23 13:30:47 that's nice. I guess the only thing I have to get running, is the CF to serial driver, than it should work also. May 23 13:31:46 which image are you using on spitz? May 23 13:32:01 2007.12 May 23 13:32:54 which revision, the newest? Is the CF card slot functional? May 23 13:34:56 i thought 2007.12 was the revision ;) May 23 13:35:09 if not, then the original May 23 13:35:18 installed in early jan or so May 23 13:35:20 and my CF slot works May 23 13:35:48 however, whenever the screen backlight shuts off due to inactivity, i have to reboot it more oftne than not to get a working screen back May 23 13:37:40 In Jan, the stable branch had no problems with CF-cards. I updated because WPA was not working well. Now I even have a slot, where to put my WLAN card... May 23 13:38:49 heh May 23 13:38:58 bad combination of bugs there May 23 13:40:34 Yes, maybe a little bad luck here. I would like to be able to fix that my self, but it is hard to get into it. May 23 15:33:57 * joerg is back May 23 15:53:33 hey all May 23 15:54:11 does the zaurus SL-C3200 support wine? May 23 16:23:53 anyone here? May 23 16:24:43 i think it has the wrong cpu for wine May 23 16:25:04 i have heard of people running windows in qemu or something like that May 23 16:25:19 hey May 23 16:25:24 ah May 23 16:25:27 i can't imagine the performance is very good though May 23 16:25:30 Sketch, qemu is a fave apparently these days May 23 16:25:33 Sketch: how much should a SL-C3200 be? May 23 16:25:37 i use dto have a SL-5600 May 23 16:26:01 or is there something better nowadays? May 23 16:26:24 3200 is the last model of zaurus May 23 16:26:43 yeah May 23 16:26:45 some would say the 3100 is better, because they tend to overclock better May 23 16:26:50 ah May 23 16:27:00 but it doesnt have the 6gb May 23 16:27:10 nope, only 4gb May 23 16:27:14 heh May 23 16:27:21 is there a good pace to buy them? May 23 16:27:37 Sketch: qemu when used as kvm reaches quite good performance (near vmware) May 23 16:28:07 not sure if anyone sells them anymore, i haven't paid attention lately May 23 16:28:11 ah May 23 16:28:21 is there a better device out there now? May 23 16:28:25 might check the oesf.org wiki/forums May 23 16:28:38 depends who you ask ;) May 23 16:29:04 the nokia n810 is probably better in some ways, worse in others (the keyboard looks pretty bad, though i haven't used one) May 23 16:29:10 heh May 23 16:29:32 nah i like the tablet May 23 16:29:37 and the flip May 23 16:29:41 h8 sliders May 23 16:29:50 $500 osund about right? May 23 16:29:53 for a 3100? May 23 16:30:44 haven't been paying attention to current prices, but doesn't sound unreasonable May 23 16:31:18 likewise: i would assume you can't use it as a kvm when you are emulating i386 on arm though May 23 16:31:56 Sketch: no. x86 on arm?! wow. no I wouldn't run anything that way. May 23 16:34:13 me either, but i have heard of people doing it :) May 23 16:35:10 hmm? May 23 16:35:17 i just want a nice linux pda May 23 16:35:18 :) May 23 16:35:26 game emulation May 23 16:35:29 nintendo work ok? May 23 16:39:00 never tried May 23 16:39:20 i have seen some ports of various emulators, so i would assume it's usable for some things at least May 23 17:52:54 hmm, angstrom just failed to start X on my zaurus and dropped me into a console May 23 17:53:01 that's a first May 23 17:57:04 hello everyone May 23 17:57:11 some one a ipkg.conf for zaurus SSL-860 I would have just removed mine by error May 23 17:57:20 http://pastebin.com/ May 23 17:57:26 thanks in advance May 23 17:58:01 sorry for my bad english :D May 23 22:27:34 what provides glibconfig.h? May 23 22:28:13 or how do you compile a gtk app without it? **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat May 24 02:59:56 2008
