**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Oct 24 02:59:57 2008 Oct 24 04:16:12 so i've been playing with the minimalist image Oct 24 04:18:08 and it's really, really minimal Oct 24 04:18:09 :D Oct 24 04:33:37 is there a magic key combo to drop to console? Oct 24 05:54:13 what environment variable does ipkg take its temp directory setting from? Oct 24 05:54:32 is it just TMPDIR? Oct 24 06:45:09 is it just me or has the main site been in-and-out all day? Oct 24 10:40:08 hi Oct 24 10:40:34 I read it is possible to run OE on qemu (qemy-system-arm) Oct 24 10:41:00 but when I run qemu with -M spitz, I got 'qemu: fatal: nand_init: missing MTD device', and there is no documentation on that Oct 24 10:41:01 I believe so Oct 24 10:41:45 do you need to test something spitz specific? Oct 24 10:42:45 hmm, not really, but if I would like to run spitz specific images Oct 24 10:44:06 would be good to be able to test arbitrary images >_> I don't suppose there's any VM for that though? Oct 24 10:44:37 so what is the exact command you run? Oct 24 10:45:43 qemu-system-arm -M spitz -hda hdd.img -kernel zImage.bin -append "noinitrd console=tty0" Oct 24 10:46:35 looks like you might need to add -mtdblock Oct 24 10:46:41 even if the kernel doesn't read it Oct 24 10:47:23 thank you Oct 24 10:48:04 just a thought, tell me if it works :) Oct 24 10:48:47 it boots my kernel Oct 24 10:48:56 woo! Oct 24 10:48:57 so it's OK :) Oct 24 10:51:52 johnx is a mast0r hax0r Oct 24 10:52:04 heh Oct 24 10:52:28 mast0r hax0r awards: "I'd like to thank google for giving me so much support" Oct 24 11:01:15 lol Oct 24 11:01:39 "and to my enemies: You know who you are, stay Sharp!" Oct 24 11:01:51 heh Oct 24 16:37:28 for !@#!'sake, is there a working spitz_h_rewrite.patch for 2.6.24, the one used for the official installkits, available somewhere? Oct 24 16:37:47 not the one in OE that's not even patching/compiling correctly? Oct 24 16:43:37 owned. Oct 24 16:44:34 I'm fighting with #includes not included, and .rej :) (it might work now), but I can't be sure it's the patch used for building Oct 24 16:52:58 it's GPL, where are the fucking sources Oct 24 16:59:20 fosco, fuuuuuck ... what sources ? Oct 24 17:01:53 the sources of that: http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/images/spitz/Angstrom-2007.12-r9-kernel-installkit-spitz.tgz Oct 24 17:02:07 and it's _not_ in OE Oct 24 17:02:45 the provided patch does not even patch a stock 2.6.24.7 kernel Oct 24 17:04:14 well the sources are on it's respective places then - kernel, patches, etc. Oct 24 17:21:56 and where are the patches? Oct 24 17:24:37 see what's in the recipe Oct 24 17:24:53 (the .bb file for package you want, in it's dependencies etc.) Oct 24 17:26:39 the recipe for Angstrom-2007.12-r9-kernel-installkit-spitz.tgz ? Oct 24 17:28:06 yup, the recipe contains it's address Oct 24 17:29:37 the packages linux-rp_2.6.24 use a 2.6.27.7 kernel, the image contained in the tarball is a 2.6.24 kernel, there are not the same, and based on experimentation, I think the patch provided in the package is not the same Oct 24 17:40:56 fosco, well you can ask RP what he did there, he is right here ... but you might need to fix your manner first Oct 24 17:41:15 s/manner/manners/ Oct 24 17:46:44 maybe my manners are not very good, but it's not a manner to provide only binary images of a package Oct 24 17:49:14 * koen suspects someone is either full of shit or can't read instructions from http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/building-angstrom Oct 24 17:49:38 * koen also suspects that reading is hard so there's no point in explaining what a branch is Oct 24 17:49:55 * koen looks at fosco Oct 24 17:51:09 I'm not trying to build angstrom, I'm trying to build a linux kernel with the patchset used on a specific version of an angstrom package Oct 24 18:26:42 fosco, bitbake linux-kernel Oct 24 20:32:16 !logs Oct 24 20:32:17 Channel logs for #angstrom are archived at: Oct 24 20:32:18 http://hentges.net/tmp/logs/irc/%23angstrom Oct 24 20:32:19 Live-logs are available at Oct 24 20:32:20 http://hentges.net/tmp/logs/irc/livelogs/%23angstrom.livelog Oct 24 20:32:22 See ?? help-logs for usage instructions Oct 24 22:35:28 When I put the release onto c-860, the gpe version stops when gnome should start. The device does not react to turn off action and any other. When I put opie version it starts graphics with X cursor that can tracks the touchpad but... the underscore "_" appears in top left corner every second and at that moment the X cursor disapperars. Only the *console* version works. Is this how things are for c-860 or what am I missing? Oct 24 22:36:37 (opie version does not anything more than just shows cursor). x11 version does cursor tracking without any interruption (afair) Oct 24 23:09:18 is there an equivalent to the eflash command for angstrom? Oct 24 23:09:21 i want to clear /home **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Oct 25 02:59:57 2008
