I needed real less, it is in the repo (e.g. less 444-r0 v2012.xx ... and others), but "opkg install less" gave me no such package, I think I am on 2012.05, which wasn't listed so that makes sense (ASIDE: how do i check which feed I'm on?). I got it to install by specifying the url to the 2012.xx version that was also armv7a and it (apparently) works.
