How about including support for reading/writing SD cards (in SPI-Mode 1-bit data bus). After creating SPI support in the library, this would be fairly easy and useful for a user, as instead of setting up communication himself, he could use the api functions we provide for Mar 27 17:41:18 read/write SD cards? Mar 27 17:43:04 is this for Starterware-Arduino? Mar 27 17:43:21 yes Mar 27 17:43:55 I'd think you'd want to support full MMC/SD accesses as well, but starting with SPI makes sense. Mar 27 17:44:12 you engaged with other mentors besides me? Mar 27 17:44:42 well SD_mode is also useful but starting with SPI-Mode will be very trivial. Mar 27 17:45:00 agreed. Mar 27 17:45:06 no. i was hoping you could help me out with this too Mar 27 17:46:02 alexanderhiam had said he could possibly be interested to co-mentor Mar 27 17:50:18 jkridner: somewhere you suggest i go for assistance? Mar 27 17:50:52 beagleboard-gsoc mailing list, perhaps #arduino. Mar 27 17:51:29 I think it is a super-cool project idea and am surprised more mentors aren't latching onto it Mar 27 17:52:05 i have been involved there too (mailing list) as you know. it would be great if you could send some help here? :p Mar 27 17:55:19 jkridner: should i try pinging someone specific, now that i havent any support other than you? Mar 27 17:57:28 well, alexanderhiam might provide some support. what we need is some stronger, more-dedicated guidance. Mar 27 17:58:04 alexanderhiam did provide his feedback on the proposal. i had seeked for his help. he seemed happy with the proposal too Mar 27 17:58:21 what could i do? :/ Mar 27 18:03:29 jkridner: some pointers to what i could do for this? Mar 27 18:04:38 speak inspirationally about what could be done with such a software package, especially with something like http://elinux.org/Impressx:Arduino_Shield_Adapter Mar 27 18:04:53 perhaps the people that created that cape would be most interested in helping to mentor? Mar 27 18:07:12 i see. should i try sending my thoughts (benefits of this project) on the mailing list, asking for possible mentors? Mar 27 18:08:35 yes, I think that is acceptable. Mar 27 18:09:36 jkridner: okay. will try this too. i hope we could get some more people interested to join this project :) Mar 27 18:10:19 I'd think the people that made that Arduino Shield adapter would have a lot of interest in getting Arduino code to run on BeagleBone Black. Mar 27 18:11:03 I think in general, simple ports aren't that interesting software-wise to open source mentors.... ports tend to be more business focused and integration, rather than moving technology forward. Mar 27 18:11:29 jkridner: how do i contact them then? Mar 27 18:12:16 I think you have to show a bit that with this code running on BeagleBone Black, that you'll be able to do something otherwise not possible. Your comments on OpenCV inside of Arduino sketches seemed interesting and relevant to Userspace-Arduino as well. Mar 27 18:12:37 I'll leave that up to you. They have a website and a forum. Mar 27 18:12:57 i see. thanks :) Mar 27 19:42:54 hi jkridner, are there plans for release of a new Angstrom image yet? Their site seems to be down. Mar 27 19:43:34 <_av500_> its called debian Mar 27 19:43:35 Abhishek_: there have continued to be new releases, but BeagleBoard.org is moving to supporting Debian for the primary demonstration platform. Mar 27 19:43:53 I see. Mar 27 19:44:16 * jkridner doesn't call what is at http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/ as "down"... replaced with a weak substitute perhaps. Mar 27 19:55:56 When would BeagleBoard.org have BBBs being shipped with Debian as default system image? Mar 27 20:03:23 estimated about 4-8 weeks Mar 27 20:06:37 thanks, will check out the latest beta as mentioned in the groups. Mar 27 20:14:47 ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww debian Mar 27 20:15:33 that is worse then angstrom by a mile Mar 27 20:17:10 at least with angstrom there is a single pointer to where the sources are Mar 27 20:17:25 <--- working with debian has made him very irate Mar 27 20:19:10 I have been testing on the stock Ang image so far. Mar 27 20:19:42 comments on that? Mar 27 20:20:34 not much actually, but found it well enough after I figured about how to Mar 27 20:21:12 attach it to the internet through my laptop connection Mar 27 20:21:45 through RNDIS Mar 27 20:22:41 * Abhishek_ mistakenly pressing instead of shift Mar 27 20:37:43 has anyone used that shield from impressx? seems interesting Mar 27 20:45:34 I ordered one... haven't gotten it. Mar 27 22:05:21 jkridner: did u by any chance test the GPS/GPRS cape for BBB from exploitsys ? Mar 27 22:05:32 nope Mar 27 22:09:04 someone is doing a cape?! wtf Mar 27 22:09:17 is there also a cape for a blank PCB? ;) Mar 27 22:12:40 <_av500_> ds2: there is a cape that is just two rows of pin headers Mar 27 22:14:49 is there a red one with a big S in the middle too?
