**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Mar 12 03:00:01 2017 Mar 12 03:56:55 vvu_: when you're free, can we discuss the BBBlfs code, especially claiming the interface on OSX ? Mar 12 10:32:45 Doh. Forgot my BBB is old enough it only has 2gb emmc. Few mins of head scratching when trying to reflash it :) Mar 12 11:05:03 jic23: how do you prefer flashing? sd card, manual tftp or BBBlfs? Mar 12 11:09:27 Ravikp7, SD card in this case. Don't really care on method as only working in modules today.. Mar 12 11:09:55 So should be limited chance of bricking and having to reflash. Mar 12 11:17:14 jic23: Yeah. My gsoc project would be to port the BBBlfs bootloader server written in c to js(node.js) and make a gui flasher, single code base and cross platform flasher. We're running on an issue with usb interface claim on OSX, as the kernel HID driver already claims that. So, looking for some people here who have used BBBlfs on OSX for flashing to help Mar 12 11:17:14 in testing and fixing those issues. An all in one flasher will be faster than SD card flash Mar 12 11:20:09 jkridner seems busy, it would be nice if other mentors would be interseted in helping out in this project. Mar 12 11:24:36 or anybody using OSX and interested in testing things out with BBBlfs and node.js script ? Mar 12 12:24:46 Sorry, strictly a Linux guy. Could nick family computer for windows. I don't know anything yet about the bbblfs stuff so wouldn't make a good mentor for that one! Mar 12 12:27:51 jic23b: np, thanks! Mar 12 12:29:25 me too a Linux guy, but jkridner uses OSX :) . If I had mac I would have tested things myself :) Mar 12 14:35:09 [jadonk] I do use OSX, but more critically, we need to support all of the big 3: Linux, Windows and OS X. Mar 12 14:50:49 jkridner: Yeah, that's what I meant, only you can test things out on OSX then, and maybe you were busy, so I was seeking someone else's help here :) Mar 12 15:07:34 [jadonk] I appreciate that. Kinda crazy packing for Embedded World right now. Mar 12 15:53:54 Ravikp7 plenty of time left! Mar 12 16:15:14 jic23b: I find these things very cool to do, so usually get very excited ;) Mar 12 16:19:31 jic23b: I want to learn kernel development, always wanted to do that since I used Nokia N900(the pocket linux pc) . Now, I think, it is the right time for me to begin. What books, sources do you recommend ? The O'Reilly collection? Mar 12 18:24:53 ravikp7: check out Robert Love's Linux Kernel Development and LDD3 Mar 12 18:27:25 maciejjo: I'll check out this book this week, thanks! Mar 12 18:34:55 ravikp7, You can also look at the eudyptulla challenge to enhance your knowledge Mar 12 18:35:31 I mean once you are comfortable with the basics and want to get some practical experience Mar 12 18:38:28 chanakya_vc : It seems very interesting. Solving challanges always help very much in learning. Thanks for this valuable tip Mar 12 18:42:45 yeah eudyptula is really fun **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Mar 13 03:00:01 2017
