**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Feb 23 02:59:57 2022 Feb 23 12:00:14 what is the web link to this room? Feb 23 12:01:06 Ah, just web.libera.chat/#beagle-gsoc Feb 23 13:04:49 Hi everyone, I'm a computer graphics and research engineer. And want to be a contributor at Beagle starting with the new opportunity gsoc bought for non-student developers. Feb 23 13:04:49 And I'd like to discuss the idea "OpenGLES acceleration for DL" further. As I've experience working on opengl 3.x and computer vision with machine learning so it really feels interesting to me. Feb 23 13:04:50 ds2 can you please give some more details regarding this idea a can I contribute to Beagle with this one? I'm interested in knowing which Beagle project is a good starting point to know more about integration of shaders into the graphics pipeline. Feb 23 13:43:15 hi Kartiks. Feb 23 13:43:28 I'm having the hardest time with these bridges, btw. Feb 23 13:44:08 ds2: I hope you'll join us for mentoring this year. We've got a lot of new support coming from IMG and TI for 3D graphics. Feb 23 13:45:50 we cannot completely unify our IRCs and Slacks and Matrices. :-( Feb 23 13:46:21 I'm sure ds2 would be very interested in our GPU software support roadmap from TI/Beagle. Feb 23 13:47:35 Hi jkridner, I'd really like to know about the problem statement, can you give me a head start... Feb 23 14:41:04 I don't really know how to use OpenGLES to accelerate deep learning. Feb 23 14:41:21 * jkridner wonders how hard it would be to come up to speed on C7x/MMA to improve upon the TI code. Feb 23 14:46:30 I think https://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-rtos-jacinto7/latest/exports/docs/tidl_j7_08_01_00_05/TIDeepLearningProduct_ReleaseNotes.html must have something buried in it to say where the source is. Feb 23 14:47:53 With my understanding, is it so that mentor for this project is not available for this Gsoc project? Feb 23 14:49:09 well, ds2 has been a mentor with BeagleBoard.org GSoC every year that we've had it.... Feb 23 14:49:43 so, I am confident that he can help, but I haven't gotten confirmation he'll be mentoring this year if we are accepted as a mentoring organization. Feb 23 14:50:04 also, ds2 might not know about new software coming from TI that Beagle might enable on new hardware. Feb 23 14:50:33 it isn't a very well-kept secret we are working on a TDA4VM-based board and I can get samples out to folks participating in GSoC. Feb 23 14:51:11 Got it, thanks for clarification Feb 23 14:51:37 So, OpenGLES is interesting and ds2 might have ideas there, but looking at what can be done with C7x+MMA to accelerate deep learning could have some good roadmap. Feb 23 14:52:07 Also, IMG/TI are working on releasing more programming tools beyond just OpenGLES. Feb 23 14:52:31 Cool, so does it mean Vulkan support in future? Feb 23 14:52:38 still, for AM335x, OpenGLES could be the best bet to accelerate beyond armhf/vfp/neon. Feb 23 14:53:03 lol. one can hope. ^^ NishanthMenon rcn-ee note Vulkan question. :-) Feb 23 14:54:00 anyway, I need to get this TIDL stuff working on the TDA4VM and I'd be interested how students might be able to due new things beyond what TI is doing. Feb 23 14:54:29 I cannot find a simple link to the source. It seems you have to download the TDA4VM RTOS SDK and it is buried in there. Feb 23 14:54:31 :-( Feb 23 14:56:05 Sorry but I'm not straight away good with DL jargons, so do you mean Texas Instruments Deep Learning with TIDL? Feb 23 15:03:19 Let me know if I can help with linking TIDL stuff, it will give me more idea about Beagle boards. And the accelerators which are used in it. Feb 23 15:03:38 yes. Feb 23 15:03:52 what do you mean by linking? Feb 23 15:04:00 Kartiks: so the SGX 530 on the am335x, is pretty limited beyond it's stated specs.. Imagination got OpenCl running on it, but it didn't really accelerate much.. In fact the next version of their core SGX "6", enabled OpenCL in the pipeline by default.. idk... Anything AI on the am335x could be interesting, but it would be a lite version of anything.. Feb 23 15:04:16 linking->working Feb 23 15:06:04 Thanks for info rcn-ee Feb 23 15:08:11 There are exciting things with OpenGLES that we could do with newer designs, just need parts.. Something perfect for GSOC students. Feb 23 17:37:49 official meeting time. cwicks isn't here, so it is on Slack today. :-( Feb 23 17:38:12 that is, cwicks isn't on IRC, nor does https://bbb.io/gsocchat point them here now. Feb 24 02:26:59 I dog gone missed it again. Blah. Feb 24 02:27:19 How was the meet and hellos today? **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Feb 24 02:59:56 2022
