Must be Labor Day everywhere. Sep 03 16:31:11 lol Sep 03 16:31:14 surely not Sep 03 16:31:29 the world doesnt end at the shoreline ;) Sep 03 16:32:10 * emeb forgot the irony tag. Sep 03 16:32:15 the jersey-shore line? SCNR Sep 03 16:32:23 haha Sep 03 16:32:54 it's just not a laber-day.... Sep 03 16:33:07 *grin* Sep 03 16:33:26 nexus7 came with TF3 movie Sep 03 16:33:34 I would have paid money not to have it Sep 03 16:34:23 blech Sep 03 16:34:33 other than that, hows the Nexus7? Sep 03 16:34:34 av500: you should patent that Sep 03 16:35:45 emeb: not sure Sep 03 16:35:53 it has the same number of pixels as my phone Sep 03 16:35:59 and I have good eyesight Sep 03 16:36:25 but display is bigger, so resolution seems coarser? Sep 03 16:36:30 yes Sep 03 16:36:42 I dont want larger pixels, I want more :) Sep 03 16:37:16 since i have the galaxy nexus, I barely touch tablets any more Sep 03 16:37:26 somehow I always have a phone with me anyway Sep 03 16:37:40 except that 250GB tablet with all my movies :) Sep 03 16:37:53 played with my Dad's Samsung GS2 a few weeks back. Sep 03 16:38:12 seemed a lot snappier than my Samsung GP5. Sadness Sep 03 16:38:57 But oh dear all the crapware that T Mobile loaded on it. Sep 03 16:39:26 yeah Sep 03 16:40:21 Useless apps that you can't delete. meh. Sep 03 16:41:50 * ka6sox remembers the AOL app on '98 Sep 03 16:43:52 98 - blech. Finally retired our last 98 PC about 2 yrs ago. Sep 03 16:44:28 Disappointed that the Nexus7 doesn't have a uSD slot. Sep 03 16:50:58 hey guys, does any1 happen to know a tutorial on how i get my zippy expansion board running with my beagle? cant figure how to get the eth0 up an running :( Sep 03 16:53:50 emeb, I got spoiled with the Nook Color Sep 03 16:54:35 ka6sox: What aspect spoiled you? Sep 03 17:24:07 uSD + ease of hacking Sep 03 17:34:25 Hi, when i power up the BBxm thru USB then i got kernel panic "Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual addr4" Sep 03 17:34:39 what is the solution for this Sep 03 17:34:47 Not powering the xM over USB. Sep 03 17:34:55 THis is a well-documented kernel bug. Sep 03 17:35:23 so i have to buy a power supply of how much apm's Sep 03 17:35:58 ampere? Sep 03 17:36:13 Also listed in the xM SRM (System Reference Manual), as well as the "What Should I Buy" page on the wiki. Sep 03 17:36:21 But usually around 2A will do fine. Sep 03 17:36:44 thanks @agmlego Sep 03 17:36:58 Not a problem, ut this is not Twitter. Sep 03 17:37:07 No need for the @ ;-P Sep 03 17:37:13 ok Sep 03 18:35:48 i'm new to linux and i just unpacked my beaglebone (armv7l) running Angstrom but i'm unable to optk install libbluetooth-dev Sep 03 18:36:15 opkg, or optk? Sep 03 18:36:39 sorry. opkg Sep 03 18:36:40 did you run opkg update first? Sep 03 18:36:59 yes i did Sep 03 18:37:15 newblue: I assume the bone is attached to a network in some fashion> Sep 03 18:37:24 yes it is Sep 03 18:37:28 newblue: What error message does it give you? Sep 03 18:37:42 unkown package Sep 03 18:38:01 Are you sure such a package exists? Sep 03 18:38:12 yes. i have it working on ubuntu Sep 03 18:38:30 is it bluetooth or bluez? Sep 03 18:38:55 yes. oddly enough the hciconfig and hcitools work perfectly Sep 03 18:39:40 but when i go to the angstrom supported i can only find the package for other versions Sep 03 18:39:49 newblue: Realising that Ubunut packages and Angstrom packages are different, I see at least one thread online that shows a similar problem, with no resolution. Sep 03 18:41:08 i have a ubuntu image and i was able to apt-get install it there. but the hciconfig and hcitools don't work correctly for that distribution Sep 03 18:41:46 on angstrom libbluetooth was replaced with bluez if I'm not mistaken Sep 03 18:42:21 specifically bluez4 Sep 03 18:42:52 newblue: Yes, but Angstrom is not Ubuntu. Sep 03 18:43:07 newblue: Any more than Angstrom is Windows, really. Sep 03 18:45:09 i'm trying to compile the simplescan tutorial program that uses header include and the compiler cannot find this file or the library for that matter Sep 03 18:45:43 i have bluez4 installed. i just checked Sep 03 18:47:01 Is there a -dev for that? Sep 03 18:47:08 yeah Sep 03 18:47:22 bluez-dev Sep 03 18:48:00 perhaps bluez4-dev? Sep 03 18:48:11 newblue: Install that. Sep 03 18:48:13 yeah.. sorry Sep 03 18:48:57 many thanks Sep 03 18:49:12 i have been at it for a day or so Sep 03 18:51:15 i'm getting an error while install it Sep 03 18:51:31 what's the error? Sep 03 18:51:45 lock group Sep 03 18:52:08 i just ran it again and it worked this time Sep 03 18:52:26 not familiar with that error ~.~ Sep 03 18:52:39 Sounds like a lockfile was still open. Sep 03 18:53:16 many thanks again. the program is now compiling Sep 03 18:53:41 congratz Sep 03 20:58:11 I have this odd issue with my beaglebone that I bought a few months ago - otherwise I haven't found anything wrong with it. The 3.3V lines on the expansion headers are outputting 5.1 V on my beaglebone, and it has not exploded yet, so ... Sep 03 20:59:20 Is it just some board setting I missed in the manual? Sep 03 21:54:30 Teknoman117: er that is bad Sep 03 21:55:01 you sure you are use and I/O line? Sep 03 22:05:51 I'm sure I tested the right line. Pins 3 & 4 on the P9 header give me 5V Sep 03 22:06:53 Question - the CPU is a little warm, but that is to be expected right? Its not due to this. The pins i tested were labeled VDD_3V3EXP Sep 03 22:09:29 Yeah, you should expect a little warmth. Sep 03 22:12:49 As far as the problem i'm having, I'm looking at the schematics right now and that pin is isolated from the rest of the board. There is a chip (U8, TPS73701DRBR) that takes in 5V from the shared system voltage line (SYS_VOLT) and VDD_3V3A, and outputs the VDD_3V3EXP line. Could this chip or surrounding circuitry failed? Sep 03 22:13:10 Could be. Sep 03 22:17:25 hmm the VDD_3V3A line is at 3.3V, so that would be why the board hasn't self destructed, I guess thats fine. Just need to pick up a 3v regulator then for my project Sep 03 23:22:58 ok i ordered a launchpad have no clue what to use it for Sep 03 23:25:23 well prpplague Sep 03 23:25:31 yes? Sep 03 23:25:34 wmat: ping Sep 03 23:59:27 prpplague: so that room must be damn crowded at E-ELC + Europe LinuxCon :) Sep 04 00:00:11 mranostay: ?? Sep 04 00:00:58 "30 August 2012 CFP notifications will be sent out on Wednesday, September 5th. We appreciate your patience." Sep 04 00:01:54 mranostay: i assume you are referring to the issue about the tutorial sessions Sep 04 00:02:57 ah that makes more sense now Sep 04 00:03:32 same rooms for both tutorial sessions? Sep 04 00:03:56 mranostay: sort of **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Sep 04 02:59:58 2012
