**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Mar 22 02:59:58 2013 Mar 22 03:32:56 meh Mar 22 03:37:11 So if eCAP is the best for input, is there a pin that is best suited for high-accuracy output? Mar 22 03:37:16 back. Mar 22 03:37:26 front Mar 22 03:38:41 eCAP for? Mar 22 03:39:24 eCAP for high-speed digital input/capture/compare Mar 22 03:40:09 I have a timepulse pin going from my GPS module to the eCAP pin Mar 22 03:40:44 but apparently there's another pin on the GPS that you can essentially give a rising or lowering edge and it'll send back the gps timestamp it had on that edge Mar 22 03:40:52 so kinda the same, just opposite Mar 22 04:51:10 Ideally something that could timestamp its output (if that's even possible) Mar 22 05:20:45 yes I think FIQ is not available to non-secure code which is everything but the bootrom on beaglebone Mar 22 05:21:00 av500: guess I was responding to an earlier note Mar 22 05:25:08 joel_: !! Mar 22 05:25:30 mranostay: hey Mar 22 05:26:18 sorry i have been working from a private cell in India without much human contact. s3cr3tly Mar 22 05:28:25 just kidding. Mar 22 05:28:26 bbl Mar 22 05:28:37 you had me worried for a second Mar 22 05:32:12 Shadyman: why the coin cell? Mar 22 05:32:49 joel_: talked to the wrong people at ELC? Mar 22 05:34:59 ds2: talked to me.. so that more than likely :P Mar 22 05:35:29 mranostay: no wonder! Mar 22 05:35:30 ds2: battery backed-up RAM, and RTC Mar 22 05:35:56 mranostay: must be for trying to arrange for obtaining some of your 'samples'? :D Mar 22 05:36:04 Shadyman: but why coin cell? Mar 22 05:36:15 ds2: Replaceability? Mar 22 05:36:25 Shadyman: why not a supercap? Mar 22 05:36:54 they're relatively pricy Mar 22 05:37:18 really? Mar 22 05:37:25 it is in the same ball park Mar 22 05:37:57 true Mar 22 05:38:01 unless you are using those import CR2032s ;) Mar 22 05:38:11 hehe Mar 22 05:38:56 supercaps are smaller though Mar 22 05:39:26 Shadyman: what else will you have on your expansion board? Mar 22 05:39:39 we seem to have a lot of overlap! Mar 22 05:39:45 which one? :/ Mar 22 05:39:56 the entire giant stack of them Mar 22 05:41:06 of the gps ones? or otherwise? :3 Mar 22 05:41:29 all of them, I assume you plan to use all of them together, right? Mar 22 05:41:39 not necessarily Mar 22 05:41:44 oh Mar 22 05:41:49 what else goes with the gps stack? Mar 22 05:42:12 Anything you want, really Mar 22 05:42:35 so you don't have a particular goal? Mar 22 05:43:17 well, not for this one, really, besides being able to test out the GPS in various functions. my end goal is a GPS/GSM Cape Mar 22 05:43:40 is there anything else on the GPS/GSM expansion board? Mar 22 05:44:40 not besides GPS, a sim card slot, and GPS :3 Mar 22 05:45:18 oh.. .thought you had other stuff. it was sounding like my all in one board except I don't have a GSM radio on it Mar 22 05:45:27 interesting :D Mar 22 05:45:39 ah Mar 22 05:45:49 I didn't want to pigeon-hole it too much :) Mar 22 05:46:05 which module are you using? Mar 22 05:46:11 too much stacking makes things gigantic Mar 22 05:46:21 one of those sirf based one Mar 22 05:46:34 donno what the mfg name dejour is Mar 22 05:46:52 ah Mar 22 05:47:24 it has an on board antenna so it is literally brain dead simple Mar 22 05:47:55 PCB antenna? Mar 22 05:47:58 or the module Mar 22 05:48:08 no, ceramic patch on the module Mar 22 05:48:26 interesting. Mar 22 05:48:39 don't see too many of those Mar 22 05:48:49 really? tons of those around Mar 22 05:49:03 do a search on the usual guys Mar 22 05:49:05 though I guess it saves you from having to rf-proof your board :3 Mar 22 05:49:17 yes. hence the 'braindead' simple interface Mar 22 05:49:46 had it working on the classic beagle but that required a level shifter (*gasp*) Mar 22 05:49:53 eww Mar 22 05:50:01 since it is native 3.3V, the bone just gets it Mar 22 05:50:10 giggity. Mar 22 05:50:20 I'm going for active-antenna Mar 22 05:50:34 you expecting a lot of losses? Mar 22 05:51:23 nah Mar 22 05:51:27 Not sure what I'm expecting :/ Mar 22 05:51:34 oh Mar 22 05:51:45 like I said, just, generic use case Mar 22 05:51:58 how are you interfacing the GSM module? Mar 22 05:52:12 or you risking having to use 2 whole uarts on the bone? Mar 22 05:52:20 the manufacturer has its own gps-gsm interface Mar 22 05:52:28 i2c-based Mar 22 05:52:37 and you can get at the gps and its data over the gsm module Mar 22 05:52:38 oh I see Mar 22 05:52:51 there's no physical data connection from gps to the bone at that point Mar 22 05:53:22 I am very curious if the GPS has a built in T/R switch or protection at the input Mar 22 05:53:25 they work pretty well together as coprocessors... agps, gps correction, etc Mar 22 05:54:04 the rf conductor is ESD-sensitive Mar 22 05:54:24 oh, you mean between gsm and gps Mar 22 05:54:30 yeah Mar 22 05:54:45 GSM can output like 10000x more power then a typical GPS signal Mar 22 05:54:53 hehe Mar 22 05:55:16 active antennas have bandpass filters, etc Mar 22 05:55:31 but as far as isolation, it'll need some sneaky pcb design Mar 22 05:56:02 but would NAND help here? Mar 22 05:56:34 hrm? Mar 22 05:56:53 picking on ds2 Mar 22 05:57:18 it is all about being able to manage it! Mar 22 05:57:34 yarn Mar 22 05:57:37 mranostay: Oh. I was about to question how NAND could help isolate gsm from gps. Mar 22 06:01:47 iNAND uNAND we all NAND Mar 22 06:01:49 :D Mar 22 06:03:51 anyone normal in this field? Mar 22 06:03:53 anyone? Mar 22 06:04:22 if we was normal, why would we come here for therapy? Mar 22 06:05:45 mranostay, what'd you have to rework? Mar 22 06:06:59 data lines... and caps to ground Mar 22 06:07:14 all simple but d'oh points Mar 22 06:14:49 https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/902063_10151515442102661_168836100_o.jpg Mar 22 06:15:25 high tech Mar 22 06:15:46 mrpackethead, dummy load? Mar 22 06:15:55 yup Mar 22 06:16:31 small DC fan Mar 22 06:16:35 lid goes on Mar 22 06:16:59 https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/881919_10151515442262661_497242061_o.jpg? Mar 22 06:18:16 that fluke 322 is measuring true RMS Mar 22 06:18:21 so thats pretty helpful Mar 22 06:23:59 nice Mar 22 06:24:28 20minutes into testing, i'm feeling not too bad about this. Mar 22 06:24:58 what i'm meauruing is the air temp insdei the box Mar 22 06:27:02 it seems to have flatlined about 15 degrees higher than ambinet Mar 22 06:28:08 true RMS Mar 22 06:28:22 is that like only measuring free electrons? Mar 22 06:28:34 and not closed-source ones? Mar 22 06:32:18 koen: building the latest denzil I get http://pastebin.com/CF6jSfky. got a solution for that one? I bother you because the log says you added udev-182 :) Mar 22 06:43:54 how true is the RMS? Mar 22 06:44:05 does it get it right on arbitrary wave forms? Mar 22 06:44:47 ds2: its sent to the fluke cloud which links it to amazon mechanical turk Mar 22 06:45:00 then each wavefrom is hand counted Mar 22 06:45:10 * mranostay hates emeb_mac and Russ but not really :P Mar 22 06:45:28 :P Mar 22 06:45:34 MAX3232 attracts hate like flies Mar 22 06:45:50 1488s and 1489 baby! Mar 22 06:45:59 old skool Mar 22 06:46:25 why exactly does one level shift to 10V in order to go Soc->usb2serial? Mar 22 06:46:37 how long do i have to leave it before i could say i have a sensible result Mar 22 06:46:49 av500, 10v goes a lot further Mar 22 06:46:49 noise baby...noise! Mar 22 06:47:11 hates the channel! Mar 22 06:47:12 I have serial going from one end of the house to the other at 115200, I don't think you could do that with 3.3V Mar 22 06:47:38 ah, that's why I wired the house, RS232 terminals everywhere Mar 22 06:47:38 why not put a shell wrapper script around it to avoid warnings that you can't Mar 22 06:47:39 ;) Mar 22 06:47:56 Russ: why i have to ask Mar 22 06:48:03 av500, I wanted serial access to my router from my office Mar 22 06:48:08 you're a twisted pair. Mar 22 06:48:16 Russ: I know who 10V is better :) Mar 22 06:48:17 and if you are running a bunch of cat6 anyway, might as well drop an extra for serial Mar 22 06:48:20 Russ: RS-422 Mar 22 06:48:25 why* Mar 22 06:48:32 rs-422 would be better, but if 232 works, who cares Mar 22 06:50:30 what kind of router do you have that still has serial access? Mar 22 06:51:11 most, if not all, have serial at TTL levels inside the router Mar 22 06:51:11 most routers still have an UART somewhere on the PCB Mar 22 06:51:28 my router is a D2500 atom board Mar 22 06:51:36 I think there are 4 or 5 uarts Mar 22 06:51:42 Ohhhhhh those space heaters Mar 22 06:52:16 ya, ya, give me an affordable embedded board with dual gige (actually able to push a significant fraction of that) and pcie for wireless Mar 22 06:52:35 isn't there Crisco's with that? Mar 22 06:52:46 wireless needs PCIe? Mar 22 06:52:47 shorewall Mar 22 06:53:03 it helps with your selection of 802.11n hardware Mar 22 06:53:06 disco doesn't make affordable hardware :) Mar 22 06:53:35 crisco's from the trash piles are affordable Mar 22 06:53:44 yup, those are :) Mar 22 06:53:47 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007MS9OI2 Mar 22 06:54:30 Russ: yep, a coworkerhas one of these Mar 22 06:54:31 * dm8tbr likes to dumpster dive some of the company dumpsters around here, especially where they have accessible electronics boxes Mar 22 06:54:46 dm8tbr: dived anything good? Mar 22 06:55:05 yeah, plenty of cool stuff Mar 22 06:55:29 24port manageable switch (sadly 100M only, but still cool) Mar 22 06:56:17 Russ: does that run off 12V? Mar 22 06:56:21 a neatly built extension cord with integrated ethernet ports, 3m of power+6xcat5e, now on my desk, formerly in some meeting room Mar 22 06:56:34 :) Mar 22 06:56:53 av500, yup Mar 22 06:56:53 loads of useful cables and adaptors Mar 22 06:57:09 usb micro-a→A adaptors Mar 22 06:57:15 ooooh Mar 22 06:57:24 an 8 port or even 5 port 100Mbit vlan switch would be nice to have Mar 22 06:57:36 even if it was fixed configuration (eg, 4 vlans, one "upstream") Mar 22 06:58:12 the HP does VLANs, have yet to use the tagging though. so far only partitioned the ports into 'VDSL bridge' and 'internal' Mar 22 06:58:36 but you can go broke paying the power bill for those criscos Mar 22 06:58:38 the VDSL provides 5 native IPv4 adresses, which is nice. But 0 IPv6 :( Mar 22 06:58:45 everything vlan seems to be either expensive, or a piece of crap that needs cloud connected windows software to configure Mar 22 06:58:49 power is cheap in .fi Mar 22 06:59:14 dm8tbr: and the heat is probally needed there too? Mar 22 06:59:21 a vlan switch can be made out of a full size atx mobo, any bunch of nics, and everyone's favourite kernel :) Mar 22 06:59:30 Russ: netgear gs105e Mar 22 06:59:41 100M VLAN capable swiches aren't that steep Mar 22 07:00:07 ds2: during winter, it's nice Mar 22 07:00:12 bones_was_here: favorite? so that'd be the one you wince from? Mar 22 07:00:17 aholler_, that's the switch I was talking about Mar 22 07:00:27 adobe air configuration application Mar 22 07:00:33 oooh: Green Ethernet for reduced power consumption Mar 22 07:00:38 ds2: wouldn't be my fav if it made me wince Mar 22 07:00:46 I try to buy green ethernet cables when I can Mar 22 07:01:02 I bought orange ones recently Mar 22 07:01:14 next time I will buy purple Mar 22 07:01:20 or teal Mar 22 07:01:45 teal and orange server rack… Mar 22 07:01:53 yeah Mar 22 07:02:06 tasslehoff: find the offending package and rebuild it Mar 22 07:02:07 av500: trolling beagle-alpha! :) Mar 22 07:02:09 very popular in Hollywood these days Mar 22 07:02:40 mranostay: :) Mar 22 07:02:58 Russ: soekris net6501 has that, but the board is a bit ehm... "different" Mar 22 07:02:58 ds2: http://www.digikey.com/Web%20Export/Supplier%20Content/CooperBussmann_283/PDF/CooperBussmann_PowerStor_KSeries.pdf?redirected=1 Mar 22 07:03:13 av500: Rev A4 is really useless for me :) Mar 22 07:03:29 Russ: e.g. no ACPI in the BIOS, so linux gets confused. It's an openBSD targeted board Mar 22 07:03:55 Shadyman: ?? Mar 22 07:03:56 Russ: and it's relatively expensive Mar 22 07:04:09 ds2: how to calculate supercap hold-up time and such Mar 22 07:04:16 ya, I looked into those a bit Mar 22 07:04:17 * mranostay pokes a major semiconductor company guy Mar 22 07:04:23 * mranostay thens sleeps Mar 22 07:04:29 mranostay: Don't poke the bear. Mar 22 07:04:40 I a) wasn't sure if they'd push 150Mbps comfortably, and b) the cost Mar 22 07:06:39 Russ: it would be easy to write some sw to configure that switch from linux, if you want to spend the time ;) Mar 22 07:07:53 hmmm https://code.google.com/p/gsconf/ Mar 22 07:08:09 ah, great, thanks ;) Mar 22 07:08:35 mranostay: with a fucked up FIQ, the whole bone line is kinda useless to me Mar 22 07:08:45 now I need to get back to XM Mar 22 07:08:54 av500: ah, it's a special TI FIQ? Mar 22 07:08:59 am I crazy to be paranoid about my verizon cable box's access to my network? Mar 22 07:09:04 koen: yes, a borken one Mar 22 07:09:16 koen: it goes well with past TI experience Mar 22 07:09:24 av500: leave it to TI to eff up Mar 22 07:09:28 sure Mar 22 07:09:59 who TF even needs a secure am335x Mar 22 07:10:04 there's lots of managed (telnet), vlan capable 100M procurves on ebay for under $100 Mar 22 07:10:18 but only 100M Mar 22 07:10:38 btw, be sure to use the search term, procurve not procurves Mar 22 07:10:50 "pro curves" Mar 22 07:11:01 they are your friends Mar 22 07:11:09 * av500 takes the card and sits down again Mar 22 07:11:12 you ahve nothing to hide from your friends, right? :D Mar 22 07:11:23 Shadyman: ah Mar 22 07:12:13 there are usually 2 GBIT port options in the procurves or even installed uplink ports Mar 22 07:12:23 bones_was_here: that netgear one does cost only 20€ and is most likely available in a shop around the corner. Mar 22 07:12:34 I don't think I have room in my panel for most of those Mar 22 07:12:34 curves rule! Mar 22 07:12:42 * dm8tbr was too cheap so far to go looking for those modules and maybe a gbit dumb switch Mar 22 07:12:43 oh wait are talking the same thing? Mar 22 07:12:55 * mranostay hides from public shaming Mar 22 07:12:57 mranostay: yesno Mar 22 07:12:58 no, sit down, you are going to end up on twitter Mar 22 07:13:08 * dm8tbr hands mranostay a card Mar 22 07:13:32 hmm, does english have a "yesno" like Germany "Jein"? Mar 22 07:13:54 me looks at the netgear page and wonders what drugs they take 'Gigabit Power, 10/100 Simplicity' Mar 22 07:14:01 av500, not really Mar 22 07:14:05 too bad Mar 22 07:14:10 av500, eh? Mar 22 07:14:14 the closest is "maybe" Mar 22 07:14:20 not the same Mar 22 07:14:21 :) Mar 22 07:14:27 anykey Mar 22 07:14:30 'eh?' is probably close Mar 22 07:15:02 av500: the internets suggest "Well - yes and no." Mar 22 07:15:14 but not a single word Mar 22 07:15:15 -ETOOLONG Mar 22 07:15:31 wyan Mar 22 07:15:34 hmm Mar 22 07:15:36 we found that one case where german is shorter! Mar 22 07:15:39 * av500 goes to patent that Mar 22 07:16:24 ds2: With a $4.32 supercap, i'm looking at just under a day and a half of (albeit rechargeable) backup. Now to figure out how long a 2032 would last at 22uA Mar 22 07:17:00 Shadyman, whats the self discharge rate? Mar 22 07:17:16 oh, that was ignoring the self-discharge rate, even Mar 22 07:17:48 :/ Mar 22 07:18:31 doesn't say offhand Mar 22 07:21:22 can supercaps power my Prius? Mar 22 07:21:35 can they help Tesla in the cold? Mar 22 07:21:37 ds2: vs 386 days on a 2032 :/ Mar 22 07:22:00 Shadyman: so you need like 200 supercaps? Mar 22 07:22:06 though, it'd probably be about two-thirds of that, since the rtc drops off at 1.4V Mar 22 07:22:13 av500: Yeah :/ Mar 22 07:22:32 aholler, any clue if that netgear can do trunking? Mar 22 07:22:50 av500: i want to power a bone from a 10 farad cap :P Mar 22 07:23:01 <-- insane Mar 22 07:23:03 if it were *just* an RTC at, say, 2 picoamps, then I'd be laughing. but this gps needs 22 microamps for backup Mar 22 07:23:07 mranostay: You would. Mar 22 07:23:11 Shadyman: that seems short Mar 22 07:23:19 ds2: Yeah. Mar 22 07:23:39 is it 0.01F? Mar 22 07:23:50 or 1F? Mar 22 07:23:51 1F Mar 22 07:23:54 Russ: haven't seen such, but I haven't searched for that Mar 22 07:24:11 ah, one port 'ALL', tagged, the other ports with a vlan id and untagged Mar 22 07:24:11 unless I mathed wrong. Mar 22 07:24:26 if it is for just the GPS, get a version that don't need them Mar 22 07:24:40 some modules have on board flash or can hookup a SPI flash Mar 22 07:24:41 Russ: thats the monitor port Mar 22 07:24:48 ds2: It doesn't need a battery, and has spi flash Mar 22 07:24:59 then? Mar 22 07:25:05 confused Mar 22 07:25:06 nice to replace a hub for debugging ;) Mar 22 07:26:31 ds2: SPI Flash doesn't keep the clock running :x Mar 22 07:26:50 Russ: ah, thats what you meant by trunking. yes it can ;) Mar 22 07:27:04 Though, if it's within the window of time it has ephemeris data, it can pull a <1s lock Mar 22 07:27:11 Shadyman: but why do you need that clock running AND a RTC? Mar 22 07:27:22 eh? Mar 22 07:27:34 the rtc is built in the gps. Mar 22 07:27:36 aholler, I basically want each port to be it's own dmz Mar 22 07:28:03 its not perfect because anyone on the network can transmit and send on those vlans too Mar 22 07:28:11 anyone on the trusted network Mar 22 07:28:18 oh Mar 22 07:28:31 put a lower power RTC then push time on to it Mar 22 07:28:41 time for Z's Mar 22 07:28:45 nite Mar 22 07:29:19 ds2: wimp Mar 22 07:35:19 http://forkmydongle.com/ Mar 22 07:37:44 https://teespring.com/DongleGate Mar 22 07:42:09 will that USB cable work? Mar 22 07:42:34 I have a few like it Mar 22 07:43:11 but geez are people this sensitive now? Mar 22 17:12:17 I am following the build instructions provided by Aptina, then by Angstrom, and then by electronsonradio.com, it seems to be failing when I try to opkg-target to get ncurses, I think the actual failing point is when I try to run the environment-setup file Mar 22 17:14:07 I'm not familiar with the specific instructions of those sites. I've only used http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/toolchains. Mar 22 17:16:32 Ok, let me read through this quickly :) Mar 22 17:18:09 aptina, that's a nice faux FOSS-friendly company Mar 22 17:22:34 Tartarus: something I did wrong? Mar 22 17:22:52 Jacmet: nope, donned brown paper bag, I added a problem :( Mar 22 17:22:55 Alright, I think it is this command that fails: . /usr/local/angstrom/arm/environment-setup Mar 22 17:23:08 Converted the driver from -1 to -EINVAL and woops, messed up the tests elsewhere Mar 22 17:23:15 Jacmet: we're both in the clear for once ;) Mar 22 17:23:22 Tartarus: I didn't got to send the falcon stuff yet, it's my daughters birthday, but will send the series this weekend Mar 22 17:23:25 mdp: wee ;) Mar 22 17:23:36 Jacmet: no rush Mar 22 17:23:41 mdp: I heard you talked to my colleague about dm816x support yesterday Mar 22 17:23:46 Jacmet: I ran into somebody I guess you work with on linux-omap yesterday Mar 22 17:23:49 ugh...jinx! "zero tolerance" is the way of making it so that administrators don't have to (and aren't allowed to) use judgement. Mar 22 21:38:40 <_av500_> ? Mar 22 21:38:45 mranostay: https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/883916_10151515750027661_1182475484_o.jpg Mar 22 21:38:59 the title is wrong Mar 22 21:39:01 lol. Mar 22 21:39:05 for instance, uart5 or p8. unless you put some external circuit to highz these pins, it's literally impossible to use uart5. Mar 22 21:39:55 you'll just have to use it figuratively then Mar 22 21:40:25 its hard to use the PRU because it stopped exisiting Mar 22 21:40:56 <_av500_> PRU_EVTOUT2: you can easily use them as outputs Mar 22 21:41:00 i kinda wish they just dedicated a few multilevel pins to sysboot rather than trying to parallel load a huge binary number. :-( Mar 22 21:41:16 <_av500_> for inputs, yes you need to take care not to drive them at boot time Mar 22 21:41:24 <_av500_> they are on the LCD lines Mar 22 21:41:34 <_av500_> which is kinda safe if you use them as LCD lines Mar 22 21:41:46 just seems strange they would mux a uart onto these pins Mar 22 21:41:52 since uart is never just output. :-\ Mar 22 21:42:01 <_av500_> not true Mar 22 21:42:10 <_av500_> some are indeed only output Mar 22 21:42:18 uart5 isn't Mar 22 21:42:20 <_av500_> and if you really need 5 uarts, you can afford to add a little gate Mar 22 21:42:30 i see tx,rx,and hardware handshaking, which is not output. Mar 22 21:42:32 <_av500_> I meant there are write only use cases for uarts Mar 22 21:42:37 <_av500_> yes Mar 22 21:42:41 <_av500_> so add a gate Mar 22 21:42:48 What are the recommended contents of uenv.txt for the BBxM? It doesn't look like there is one in any of the official beagleboard repos or meta-beagleboard Mar 22 21:43:06 <_av500_> spacecolonyone: you dont need uEnv.txt Mar 22 21:43:11 again, just seems silly to add input lines to something that can't have input connected without external circuitry. Mar 22 21:43:14 <_av500_> latest uboot mainline should be fine for bbxm Mar 22 21:43:16 not at all anymore? Mar 22 21:43:26 mux something that was input only onto it :-\ Mar 22 21:43:41 <_av500_> PRU_EVTOUT2: once I buy TI, I will make it so Mar 22 21:43:43 <_av500_> heads will roll Mar 22 21:43:48 lol, THANK YOU! Mar 22 21:43:54 <_av500_> you are welcome Mar 22 21:43:57 bit will bang Mar 22 21:43:57 Can I still have it if I want to add things like optargs="smsc95xx.macaddr=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" Mar 22 21:43:58 +s Mar 22 21:44:04 <_av500_> spacecolonyone: sure Mar 22 21:44:11 k, well then I Mar 22 21:44:11 * spacecolonyone ' Mar 22 21:44:15 doh Mar 22 21:44:19 thanks Mar 22 21:44:43 icecream or not Mar 22 21:44:46 * _av500_ sends a patch for "ignoreargs" in uboot Mar 22 21:44:50 To be clear, I'll get serial out support at early boot even without it? Mar 22 21:45:06 <_av500_> I think so Mar 22 21:45:15 k, I can always just check :) Mar 22 21:45:49 <_av500_> indeed Mar 22 21:46:01 <_av500_> ye olde just check method Mar 22 21:46:40 wait should that be: optargs+=" smsc95xx.macaddr=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" Mar 22 21:46:47 so I don't trash anything? Mar 22 21:47:09 <_av500_> no Mar 22 21:47:23 <_av500_> is += even supported? Mar 22 21:47:49 <_av500_> and -=? Mar 22 21:48:01 <_av500_> hmm Mar 22 21:48:09 <_av500_> uboot should just implement make syntax Mar 22 21:48:14 Probably not, hmm, I'm not getting any video out during boot Mar 22 21:48:23 <_av500_> all: boot Mar 22 21:50:09 I'm guessing I still need something like dvimode="hd720 omapfb.vram=0:8M,1:4M,2:4M", or dvimode="omap-dss.def_disp=lcd omapfb.video_mode=1280x1024MR-16@60" Mar 22 21:50:27 <_av500_> "dvimode=640x480MR-16@60\0" \ Mar 22 21:50:32 <_av500_> thats stock Mar 22 21:50:48 <_av500_> stop the boot and type printenv Mar 22 21:50:51 yea, but looks bad Mar 22 21:51:00 I don't wanna dig out my serial cable Mar 22 21:51:11 <_av500_> you burried it? Mar 22 21:51:35 no, my desk is a tangled mess Mar 22 21:52:05 I'm just going to go look at the contents on an old sd card Mar 22 21:52:47 I've got camera=MT9P031 Mar 22 21:52:48 dvimode="1280x1024MR-16@60 omapfb.vram=0:8M,1:4M,2:4M" Mar 22 21:52:48 <_av500_> hmm, you could be my coworker :) Mar 22 21:52:49 #smsc95xx.macaddr=8e:37:6f:cb:4d:81 Mar 22 21:52:49 console="tty0 console=ttyO2,115200n8" Mar 22 21:52:54 doh Mar 22 21:52:57 <_av500_> his desk has calbes 10ys back Mar 22 21:53:01 lol Mar 22 21:53:04 <_av500_> he just ads new ones on top Mar 22 21:53:10 <_av500_> adds* Mar 22 21:53:27 now I'm confusing myself. clearly at some point i didn't think optargs="" was necessary Mar 22 21:53:35 <_av500_> ame with papers, but we discard the bottom half of the stack when he is on vacation Mar 22 21:53:38 <_av500_> same* Mar 22 21:53:50 I should really learn WTH is going on during that phase of boot Mar 22 21:53:58 HAHA Mar 22 21:53:59 <_av500_> git clone uboot Mar 22 21:54:02 yea Mar 22 21:54:04 <_av500_> and read the stock script Mar 22 21:54:18 nobody got time for that Mar 22 21:54:43 <_av500_> ha, mspdebug guy replied Mar 22 21:55:10 av500 rejected? Mar 22 22:03:39 mranostay, https://github.com/threeme3/WsprryPi/blob/master/wspr.c#L463 Mar 22 22:04:26 they don't even follow their own stupid advice Mar 22 22:04:39 ;) Mar 22 22:04:43 it's not the pointer that's volatile but what it points to Mar 22 22:05:01 a volatile pointer would be unsigned *volatile foo Mar 22 22:05:11 awesome part is, if they would have rearranged the muxable values to have outputs on the lcddata pins, rather than inputs, it would have worked. whoops i guess. Mar 22 22:05:14 and that would be completely pointless Mar 22 22:05:24 mru: doesn't the compiler bitch about that? Mar 22 22:15:15 it can't really go much more wrong next time Mar 22 22:15:26 oh i wouldn't say that Mar 22 22:15:38 memroy, the king of memories? Mar 22 22:15:51 heck, require 1% and use 2 multilevel pins!
