Aug 05 11:32:23 philenotfound: the swiss were outraged, but most germans and austrians from those regions said, they'd be delighted :) Aug 05 11:32:43 :) Aug 05 11:32:53 can I join too? Aug 05 11:54:27 no it's an irc bouncer (znc) running on a BBB that was offline (3g usb modem) and I don't know why Aug 05 11:54:43 but it's come back and logged on now Aug 05 11:55:01 any special resion why you use a 3g modem? Aug 05 11:56:02 instead of? Aug 05 11:56:14 using wired internet Aug 05 11:56:22 like everyone else ;) Aug 05 11:56:32 it's on my island in the middle of the baltic sea Aug 05 11:57:01 o_0 Aug 05 11:57:19 there actually IS a landline there.. but I think it's like 22 km of copper from the 70's.. on the bottom of the sea. Aug 05 11:57:30 why would anyone live there? Aug 05 11:57:42 I don't live there, it's my summer cottage Aug 05 11:57:51 oh..kay... Aug 05 11:58:06 and lots of people live around there year round :P Aug 05 11:58:07 my summer cottage would be in the mediteranean ^^' Aug 05 11:58:41 it's very different there Aug 05 11:58:47 well.. when choosing a secluded life on an island, i would choose a secluded life on a island in the tropical regions :) Aug 05 11:58:52 + islands are not very affordable ;) Aug 05 12:00:37 oh.. there was an island east of .nz on sale a couple of months ago Aug 05 12:00:41 quite affordable too Aug 05 12:00:52 it's not very secluded either, there's life on all the neighboring islands, a busy shipping lane goes right past and we have guests over every weekend usually Aug 05 12:01:15 KotH: east of nz? like far enough east that it doesn't matter whether it was north or south island? :) Aug 05 12:01:32 Vaizki: i live in the biggest city of .ch, and think it's very slow and silent living here :) Aug 05 12:01:52 http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-T6fCpQ6/0/X3/i-T6fCpQ6-X3.jpg Aug 05 12:01:52 Vaizki: iirc just a couple of km from the nz coast Aug 05 12:01:56 that's from my terrace Aug 05 12:02:05 as you can see, city lights, neighbors, boats! Aug 05 12:02:13 Vaizki: doesnt impress me... Aug 05 12:02:14 busy as hell Aug 05 12:02:35 Vaizki: i have pictures like that from the terasse of my oncles house... which is in the middle of a 8mio city :) Aug 05 12:02:56 there's a sea there? :) Aug 05 12:03:05 and mountains :) Aug 05 12:03:12 no I was just trying to say that it's not secluded and out in the middle of nowhere Aug 05 12:03:55 hi, i want to purchase a beaglebone black, but have no hdmi monitor. can i use the tethered version to configure ssh and use the system remotely through ssh? Aug 05 12:04:20 zump: get a serial2usb cable Aug 05 12:04:21 KotH: your uncle lives in bogota or something? :) Aug 05 12:04:24 zump: yes, with an usb serial cable Aug 05 12:04:38 zump: it makes configuration easier, and you will need it anyways Aug 05 12:04:52 what is usb serial cable? Aug 05 12:04:59 there is no db9 connector on it, is there? Aug 05 12:05:12 no, there is a TTL serial port Aug 05 12:05:18 you aint no need for a de9 connector for serial Aug 05 12:05:48 https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-3oca40vrH-g/Ubd5TjD-0_I/AAAAAAAAALU/-GibZBaTvKk/s1024/beaglebone-black-serial.jpg Aug 05 12:05:51 there Aug 05 12:07:44 KotH: actually I wouldn't mind an island in NZ either.. I love the place and they have summer when it's winter here :) Aug 05 12:07:47 what about flow control ;)? Aug 05 12:07:57 anyway, what sort of cable would do that job? Aug 05 12:08:07 it's for debugging, not for PPP links to the world... Aug 05 12:08:29 zump: TTL Serial USB cable. FTDI chip is the best but expensive. PL2303 does the job and costs nothing. Aug 05 12:08:48 http://www.adafruit.com/products/954 Aug 05 12:09:03 ah ok Aug 05 12:09:06 that's like a mid-price PL2303 option Aug 05 12:09:20 I bought them on the ebay at like 1.5 usd each, free shipping Aug 05 12:09:26 they wouldnt be on rs/e14 would they? :( Aug 05 12:10:03 they have similar too Aug 05 12:10:13 just search for serial and usb Aug 05 12:10:19 you get a bunch of these cables Aug 05 12:10:24 and exactly what do i have access to upon connecting it? assuming i've conneceted the 'tether' usb cable, and then this Aug 05 12:10:55 you have access to the system console, where you see boot messages, can interact with the bootloader, see kernel loading etc Aug 05 12:11:00 zump: bootloader output, kernel output and a login prompt Aug 05 12:11:27 the tethered usb serial gadget is only active after linux kernel is up, the gadget serial module is loaded nd you have a getty running on it Aug 05 12:12:44 philenotfound: so given I have the ethernet jack connected to a network with a dhcp server, i could configure an ssh daemon in linux and then not bother with peripherals, assuming the device and network will always be on/active? Aug 05 12:13:21 yea I have never used a screen or kbd/mouse with my BBB Aug 05 12:13:57 Are there guys who are running Gnu-radio on their Beaglebone (Black)? Aug 05 12:14:06 nice work. Aug 05 12:14:21 Fokko: that's exactly what i want to do. Aug 05 12:14:55 Cool, I compiled it on a RPi, but it seems to slow Aug 05 12:15:13 the computations of signal processing takes a lot of cpu-power Aug 05 12:15:57 I'm simply using it as a USB/IP bridge with a SDR with USB support (Funcube Dongle Pro+) Aug 05 12:16:01 Well, I want to anyway. Aug 05 12:17:39 hmmm.. can you do VHF frequencies with that? Aug 05 12:17:56 64-1.8GHz Aug 05 12:18:08 64whatHz? Aug 05 12:18:14 M Aug 05 12:18:22 no HF.. but there are HF upconverts. Aug 05 12:18:44 ok the funcube pro+ says 150kHz-240MHz & 420MHz-1.9GHz software-defined radio Aug 05 12:19:15 which is quite a lot of spectrum Aug 05 12:19:23 oh Aug 05 12:19:28 i must be thinking of original FCD Aug 05 12:19:43 150 Khz.. waaaa Aug 05 12:19:52 what kind of an antenna does that :O Aug 05 12:21:40 i could connect a tuning fork to a transducer and pick it up on fcd+. utterly pointless Aug 05 12:22:10 another question.. is there any wireless USB dongles which work out of the box with BBB (or Angstrom?) Aug 05 12:22:27 yes Aug 05 12:22:28 you wean usb wifi? Aug 05 12:22:51 yes Aug 05 12:23:08 so instead of ethernet, use wifi Aug 05 12:23:14 well it's a linux kernel and usb device.. Aug 05 12:23:23 take your pick? Aug 05 12:23:36 what kernel on BBB? Aug 05 12:25:04 sorry to answer every question with a question but... what what kernel? Aug 05 12:25:07 160mhz, for nautic AIS signals Aug 05 12:25:18 yea I want to do AIS as well Aug 05 12:25:33 on the beforementioned island because beforementioned shipping lane ;) Aug 05 12:26:01 is it absolutely necessary to upgrade the distribution on the BBB with an external sd card? Aug 05 12:27:05 Vaizki: for LW and lower, you usally use tuned LC tank around a ferrit core Aug 05 12:27:11 marinetraffic is a very nice place for AIS sharing. You might give it a glance. Aug 05 12:27:51 I know marinetraffic but they have gaps around me Aug 05 12:27:53 Vaizki: ofc, you can still do lamda/4 antennas for 100kHz :) Aug 05 12:27:58 I will naturally share with them Aug 05 12:28:10 KotH: I suck at RF. utterly. Aug 05 12:28:15 I will google and copy with pride. Aug 05 12:28:23 Vaizki: 100kHz is not RF, that's DC ;) Aug 05 12:28:29 Vaizki: ok, maybe audio ... Aug 05 12:28:42 no we're talking 160MHz Aug 05 12:28:52 160MHz is still DC Aug 05 12:29:03 LOL @KotH Aug 05 12:30:36 it really is... Aug 05 12:31:09 a simple radio design for 160MHz is done by using an antenna, input filter, an ADC and a DSP. Aug 05 12:31:37 maybe an input amplifier, but that might not be necessary, depending on the antenna and signal strength Aug 05 12:31:39 a DSP? you are killing the company Aug 05 12:31:48 for 160MHZ all you get is a PIC Aug 05 12:31:54 and a NE555 Aug 05 12:32:14 well, the pic would have to handle 100Msps :) Aug 05 12:32:19 the sampling rate of the fun dongle doesn't look too great though, 192kHz?? Aug 05 12:32:59 it's enough for many applications Aug 05 12:33:04 Vaizki: the fundongle uses a more involved design, where there is up and downconversion Aug 05 12:33:17 KotH: no leftconversion? Aug 05 12:33:19 Vaizki: iirc the basis is a DVB-T receiver Aug 05 12:33:32 av500: nope, no left wings and no right wings Aug 05 12:33:39 av500: only montagnards! Aug 05 12:33:46 geflügelmuttern Aug 05 12:33:53 KotH: yea I have one of those RTL-chipped DVB sticks that I might start with Aug 05 12:34:09 a friend of mine has this SDR, http://www.afedri-sdr.com/index.php/afedri-sdr Aug 05 12:34:14 Vaizki: look into the bladerf Aug 05 12:34:26 at least according to him it's wonderful but then again he bought it... Aug 05 12:34:31 I always read that as bladderF Aug 05 12:35:11 bladerf starts at 300MHz? Aug 05 12:36:18 http://www.nooelec.com/store/ham-it-up-v1-0-rf-upconverter-for-software-defined-radio.html#.Uf-cKGQpag4 Aug 05 12:36:30 KotH: why 100Msps, just bandpass and undersample it :P Aug 05 12:36:33 oh wait, 125 mhz Aug 05 12:37:05 kfoltman: easier on the filter :) Aug 05 12:37:15 kfoltman: a first order bandpass would be enough Aug 05 12:37:27 http://www.nuand.com/blog/product/hf-vhf-transverter/ Aug 05 12:37:32 KotH: first order bandpass? aren't all bandpasses at least second order out of necessity? :P Aug 05 12:38:20 * KotH remembers a time, when there were transverters from HF to VHF, so you could use your HF equipment to do radio on the 2m and 70cm ranges Aug 05 12:38:45 kfoltman: nope Aug 05 12:38:59 kfoltman: an LC tank is already a bandpass Aug 05 12:39:26 kfoltman: and even an LC highpass/lowpass combination is only first order Aug 05 12:39:29 KotH: now you sound like my coworker Aug 05 12:39:34 av500: ? Aug 05 12:39:36 transverters left and right Aug 05 12:40:15 KotH: uh, one zero at s=0, one zero at infinity, bang, second order Aug 05 12:40:23 av500: let me guess, an ham who has been at it for >40 years ? :) Aug 05 12:40:24 j*infinity Aug 05 12:40:58 KotH: or a conjugate pair, but then, bang, second order right from start Aug 05 12:41:36 kfoltman: sorry, i dont do laplace Aug 05 12:41:59 KotH: yes, he is old Aug 05 12:48:05 panto: not sure where the tree is, but aiui some fixes went into 3.11rc4 already Aug 05 12:48:18 KotH: in soviet russia, laplace does you Aug 05 12:50:21 laplace a la place? Aug 05 12:55:48 mru: good thing i'm not in soviet russia Aug 05 13:02:58 oO( first order of the bandpass ) Aug 05 13:03:17 thou shall not pass! Aug 05 13:03:28 anyway, multipass is the best Aug 05 13:03:32 one does not easily pass a band. Aug 05 13:05:32 LetoThe2nd: is it not pron? Aug 05 13:06:04 av500: PCBs do usually not count as adult entertainment in the common sense Aug 05 13:06:47 is is ok to call a i2c_register_board_info() inside my own drivers/misc/cape/beaglebone/mystuff.c in order to get a non-dt platform driver up ? Aug 05 13:20:03 * rob_w stoppiong Aug 05 13:20:20 there is absolutely no way to have a 'cape' like runtime loading that's board file based Aug 05 13:20:37 everything that's board file happens on board startup and that's it Aug 05 13:20:43 Koth: do you get complaints for using if (0 != blah) ? :D Aug 05 13:20:51 yoda conditions Aug 05 13:20:57 your register_board_info() call will never take effect Aug 05 13:21:02 kfoltman: haven't tried that yet.. but i will :) Aug 05 13:21:09 panto, ok Aug 05 13:21:16 I got complaints for using relational operators in a normal expression Aug 05 13:21:21 i.e. not in a condition Aug 05 13:21:25 mru, ? Aug 05 13:45:43 port? Aug 05 13:45:48 gpio Aug 05 13:45:51 pin Aug 05 13:45:55 better Aug 05 13:46:20 the datasheet should have that info Aug 05 13:47:23 the per port limit is 4 or 6mA.... but it does not mean it will be able to deliver 3mA if all of the outputs are switched on Aug 05 13:47:39 the datasheet should say Aug 05 13:47:55 if not, apply rule #3 Aug 05 13:47:56 Just create a proper darlington, 3mA should be enough Aug 05 13:48:15 yes i supposr, but I thought I migt find a quick answer here :-) Aug 05 13:48:29 amy: quick answer: DO NOT DO THAT Aug 05 13:48:40 amy: unless you dont fear the magic smoke Aug 05 13:48:58 3mA is enoug... the question is... is 200mA in total to much? Aug 05 15:32:25 i has no idea Aug 05 15:32:31 it should Aug 05 15:40:21 Kristina: http://darling.dolezel.info/en/Darling Aug 05 15:40:29 see, you dont need darwin in the end Aug 05 15:41:26 is she still at it? Aug 05 15:41:57 darwin collected facts for 20 years before presenting his theory of evolution. that's persistence Aug 05 15:42:09 so did shockley Aug 05 15:42:23 people still denounced them both Aug 05 15:42:49 not sure who this shockley folk is Aug 05 15:43:18 he invented the transistor and discovered racial inferiority Aug 05 15:43:43 quite obviously he was remembered for just one of those things ;) Aug 05 15:44:08 well if you're white skin you remember the transistor Aug 05 15:44:21 otherwise you were angry about his other "interest" Aug 05 15:47:08 av500: I got futher than them with my Magenta project. Aug 05 15:47:43 Although my project was mostly kernelmode. Aug 05 15:47:53 All of the mach stuff was a part of the kernel. Aug 05 15:49:53 Kristina: does it bother you that Apple no longer releases Darwin kernel source in sync with the actual kernel in use in OSX? Aug 05 15:50:04 cde: They do. Aug 05 15:50:14 I didn't know. my bad Aug 05 15:50:16 Not for pre-release OSX versions though. Aug 05 15:50:33 Once Mavericks goes public, they'll publish the kernel sources. Aug 05 15:51:08 does it include the arm architecture? or is it just ppc/x86_64? Aug 05 15:51:20 cde: No, I maintain my own ARM fork. Aug 05 15:51:44 cool Aug 05 15:51:52 is it still ppc? Aug 05 15:51:58 No, Aug 05 15:53:15 it reminds me of a friend who back in the day would port BSD over to ARM, which handset makers liked more than Linux because they didn't have to release the source Aug 05 15:53:36 I guess he must have moved on to Android Aug 05 15:53:48 many have moved on to android Aug 05 15:54:02 not having to release source was not a high priority Aug 05 15:54:39 well most of the secret sauve (opengl, gps, drm) is in the proprietary userland anyway. the kernel is mainly a bridge Aug 05 15:54:56 yep Aug 05 15:55:30 that reminds me, Google couldn't even redistribute the proprietary binaries for the N7, because of nvidia or another company Aug 05 15:55:50 hoping it won't be the same for the 2013 version Aug 05 16:02:19 mrpackethead: http://www.nycresistor.com/2013/07/27/ledscape/ Aug 05 17:25:54 sakoman: happy newton day! Aug 05 17:39:07 probably, half his brainpower would be occupied by pictures of cats and star trek trivia Aug 05 17:40:26 lol maybe. I just keep remembering something S hawkins said in one of his videos. The reason why he is as smart as he is is that his mind is the only place he is "free" As such he spends lots of time thinking Aug 05 17:41:03 mru: other than choosing the name, hiring the team, and doing some of the early prototyping, I really had nothing to do with the Newton product that shipped Aug 05 17:41:22 I left Apple years before it shipped to start Be Aug 05 17:41:47 that's a hell of a lot more than some people credited with "creating" something ever did Aug 05 17:42:01 * m_billybob nods Aug 05 17:42:30 sakoman, you already did about 100% more than what sjobs did then Aug 05 17:42:59 panto: you said it, not I Aug 05 17:43:20 well, he killed it, so that should count as doing something ;-) Aug 05 17:43:44 ooooh aaaah, such a visionary he was... Aug 05 17:45:34 it *is* strange to think that 25 years later I'm still fussing around with flat panel displays and touchscreens Aug 05 17:45:41 talk about being in a rut! Aug 05 17:45:50 you were tainted for life Aug 05 17:46:27 sakoman, why? you still like what you do right? Aug 05 17:49:13 *guitar* Aug 05 17:49:44 of course choice is just an illusion anyway Aug 05 17:50:08 well freedom Aug 05 17:50:12 but i agree Aug 05 17:50:43 anyway borderlining political discussion again . . . Aug 05 17:53:50 KotH: in theory, you have a certain amount of choice of masters Aug 05 17:54:04 they inflate real estate prices thus forcing people into huge mortgages which in turn mean they don't dare quit their jobs Aug 05 17:54:05 KotH: but, low-wage jobs, yeah Aug 05 17:54:14 mru: indeed Aug 05 17:54:41 mru: in Ireland they first made properties extremely expensive, then started cutting wages/employment Aug 05 17:54:51 hm I should change the topic Aug 05 17:54:58 to Aug 05 17:55:09 this navy seal transgender woman Aug 05 17:55:17 so many many people end up with mortgages that they have no chance of paying, and because property market crashed, with properties that are worth 1/4 of the mortgage Aug 05 17:55:18 I don't necessary believe it's a conspiracy orchestrated by the illuminati, but it is a problem Aug 05 17:55:29 mru: not illuminati, just greedy short-sighted people Aug 05 17:55:46 i wouldnt say short sighted Aug 05 17:55:48 also, you don't need to be illuminati to understand how bubbles work Aug 05 17:55:49 woglinde: some kind of mermaid? Aug 05 17:56:16 question: is it the default behavior if a flashable sd card is detected for the beaglebone black to automatically flash? Aug 05 17:56:27 bubbles happen when people spend more than they can afford on something Aug 05 17:56:41 mru just read the story Aug 05 17:56:51 fishhead2567 eh ? Aug 05 17:57:00 oh Aug 05 17:57:16 wtf is a flashable sd card? Aug 05 17:57:23 fishhead2567, i believe so but not 100% sure. Aug 05 17:57:24 mru: well, the media had a huge influence on the society, for some time everything was about buying and selling properties Aug 05 17:57:25 mru, flashable image Aug 05 17:57:39 can we drop the attempts at 'embedded' jargon please? Aug 05 17:57:41 lsat night i got the latest image of angstrom, booted fine from sd. this morning, instead of booting it appears to be flashing my emmc. i confirmed it by letting it work an hour and i got the 4 solid leds Aug 05 17:57:55 mru was that directed at me? Aug 05 17:58:09 fishhead2567 so you should have flashed a new image to your eMMC now Aug 05 17:58:13 it was directed at a lot of people Aug 05 17:58:14 m_billybob, i would much prefer to just boot off the sd card... which it did last night Aug 05 17:58:28 the emmc is too small to download kernel-headers Aug 05 17:58:29 just blank the emmc then Aug 05 17:58:39 fishhead2567 that is possible but requires some uEnv.txt file magic Aug 05 17:58:53 * kfoltman flashes his sd card Aug 05 17:59:09 i see. do you know of a link where i can find a tutorial on it. i am not well versed in messing with uEnv Aug 05 17:59:18 desktop linux != embedded linux =( Aug 05 17:59:19 kfoltman: yours is that small, eh? Aug 05 17:59:45 mru: well, at least it's not a micro sd Aug 05 18:00:06 or a floppy Aug 05 18:00:16 kfoltman: well, state induced stupidity causes that Aug 05 18:00:34 kfoltman: or rather, people who should know better than to mess with something they have no clue about... Aug 05 18:01:04 fishhead2567 this link is for building debian from source but . . . Aug 05 18:01:06 KotH: http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2013/07/apparently-undergraduate-finance-students-believe-esp Aug 05 18:01:28 fishhead2567 you can scroll down to the uEnv.txt file section to get an idea of what you need to boot from uSD Aug 05 18:01:39 ( in u Env.txt ) Aug 05 18:01:41 http://eewiki.net/display/linuxonarm/BeagleBone+Black Aug 05 18:01:43 awesome. that would be really helpfil Aug 05 18:01:52 thank you m_billybob Aug 05 18:01:57 no problem. Aug 05 18:02:18 i think that uEnv.txt file should even work for you Aug 05 18:02:32 but again, i have no attempted it myself so not 100% sure Aug 05 18:02:58 its okay. i've got nothing to lose. without more space i cant do what i want to anyway =P Aug 05 18:03:23 the rest of that article should give some insight on how to setup boot and the rootfs Aug 05 18:03:41 mru: lack in understanding of causality and statistics Aug 05 18:03:50 lack in common sense Aug 05 18:04:20 it does explain the finance crisis though Aug 05 18:04:27 well, doesnt surprise me Aug 05 18:04:55 it's rare to see such an undisputable demonstration of it Aug 05 18:04:55 m_billybob: btw didn't you write a blog post on your boot setup on the BBB? I may have misplaced the url Aug 05 18:05:11 * cde should bookmark more Aug 05 18:05:20 bookmarks are so 90s Aug 05 18:05:30 cde yes i did netboot USB boot, and some other random musings Aug 05 18:05:37 in my first semester i took an additional class in business economics. a lot of people there complained how hard the math is, although it was nothing that they didnt have in the first year of high school... Aug 05 18:05:53 cde -> http://www.embeddedhobbyist.com/ Aug 05 18:06:27 KotH, a lot of people struggle with the bridge between theory and application in math Aug 05 18:06:33 since then i talked with a couple of economics students and my general idea of them is, that they are only slightly more apt in general comon sense and understanding on how the world works than the average social studies student Aug 05 18:06:34 its why people tend to suck at word problems Aug 05 18:06:46 thx m_billybob Aug 05 18:06:53 fishhead2567: there was no theory involeved there Aug 05 18:07:02 i know but in high school they got theory Aug 05 18:07:05 fishhead2567: just additon, multiplication and percent calculation Aug 05 18:07:07 they got problems in a vacuum Aug 05 18:07:19 fishhead2567: if you cannot do that by the age of 20, something went very wrong with your education Aug 05 18:07:26 cde, not a problem Aug 05 18:07:31 for some reason, i find students i work with can't parameterize a problem. KotH . And i agree. Aug 05 18:07:42 something went wrong Aug 05 18:07:44 fishhead2567: what kind of students? Aug 05 18:08:16 then again, i know university students who are unable to write a grammatically correct sentence in their native language Aug 05 18:08:18 KotH, i am not a teacher (yet) but in my undergrad a lot of friends who were great in calc 2 struggled in physics because of parameterization Aug 05 18:08:44 fishhead2567: what do you mean by parametrization? Aug 05 18:09:11 one of the physics professors at my university gave exam questions with some extra, unnnecessary information in them Aug 05 18:09:12 KotH, taking concepts and key elements of a paragraph of text and mapping them to parameters in an equation. getting from the word problem to the formula on paper Aug 05 18:09:20 * mranostay gets popcorn Aug 05 18:09:28 mranostay: can i have some too? Aug 05 18:09:39 mru: oh.. that confuses a damn lot out of everyone :) Aug 05 18:09:39 always caught a few idiots who just plugged all values into random equations without thinking Aug 05 18:10:05 he told everyone beforehand Aug 05 18:10:29 said it was more like the real world that way Aug 05 18:10:32 fishhead2567: ah.. yeah.. i've seen this. but interestingly only after highschool, actually, long after i graduated and started to talk to "normal" people Aug 05 18:10:41 mru, i definately guessed on some fluid problems by taking the stuff i thought was important and putting it into equations until it look like it obeyed physics... Aug 05 18:11:02 like hm... that seems possible... let's go with that Aug 05 18:11:10 you can actually get very far with a little dimensional analysis Aug 05 18:11:10 fishhead2567: i still dont get how you cannot learn that. i mean, it's an integral part of nearly every math, physics and what not test in after elementery school Aug 05 18:11:27 KotH, i think there is a lot of hand holding involved. Aug 05 18:11:28 if you want a distance and are given time and speed... Aug 05 18:11:33 noramlly people just dont know how to practice Aug 05 18:11:36 *normally Aug 05 18:11:50 http://26-26-54.hardwarebug.org/46 Aug 05 18:12:15 brain is overrated Aug 05 18:12:21 especially in todays iculture Aug 05 18:12:27 koth right we have wiki and google Aug 05 18:12:29 KotH: got something better? Aug 05 19:33:25 you may want not to check it, because checking it could alter its state unfavorably Aug 05 19:33:40 sounds like my PCB project Aug 05 19:34:08 scared to look at it after sending gerbers out Aug 05 19:38:22 no updates on the website even Aug 05 19:39:24 do my bidding Aug 05 19:39:30 ooops Aug 05 19:39:33 :p Aug 05 19:39:46 it switched my channel Aug 05 19:44:44 Hello Aug 05 19:46:35 All our representatives are busy right now, please hold. Aug 05 19:49:06 yes Aug 05 19:52:47 Is there anybody who can help me? Aug 05 19:54:15 JoanK81: nothing but us trolls Aug 05 19:55:23 JoanK81: it does depend on your question Aug 05 19:56:08 * _troll_ waves Aug 05 19:56:34 I have a problem, I made a wrong connection between BBB and LCD cape. Aug 05 19:57:15 then my BBB don't work. Is there any solution? Aug 05 19:57:37 even after disconnecting the cape? Aug 05 19:58:00 yes Aug 05 19:58:08 * kfoltman wouldn't be too optimistic about it Aug 05 19:58:15 even conected to PC Aug 05 19:58:39 JoanK81: did you mean you plugged the cape the wrong way? Aug 05 19:58:56 yes Aug 05 20:00:38 it's quite possible your BBB is fried Aug 05 20:00:58 yes, I think so Aug 05 20:01:18 then there's not much you can do except buy another one Aug 05 20:01:26 but I don't know if the LCD cape is fried too Aug 05 20:01:52 I guess to be safe you should assume so Aug 05 20:02:04 How to probe it? Aug 05 20:02:24 maybe return it to circuitco so they can have a look at it Aug 05 20:03:21 was there any magic smoke? Aug 05 20:03:54 Do you know if circuitco has a technical support? Aug 05 20:04:15 I really have no idea Aug 05 20:04:49 btw https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/beagleboard/j0pux0Pv8lw Aug 05 20:05:20 JoanK81: I think it's best to get another BBB and try again - there may be some way to check for a short between 3.3V and GND or other trivial kinds of damage, but it wouldn't be conclusive anyway Aug 05 20:06:23 it's possibly the bbw cape is not compatible with the bbb Aug 05 20:06:33 you might want to ask for a refund Aug 05 20:06:44 cde: well, it shouldn't fry the board anyway Aug 05 20:07:29 putting it in the wrong way can certainly fry a board. Aug 05 20:07:32 JoanK81: what I did was avoiding connecting any sort of hardware to BBB pins and use separate microcontroller board connected via USB Aug 05 20:09:04 at least then I'm frying a 20 euro uC board (which is also harder to fry) and not a 50 euro computer Aug 05 20:10:00 I was thinking of doing the same, with a cheap PIC32 Aug 05 20:10:27 I mean, there's enough MCU-ey stuff on the BBB itself, but it's not 5V-safe Aug 05 20:10:43 OTOH an average MCU can stand various kinds of abuse Aug 05 20:12:09 cde: I prefer a cheap STM32, just because it's (probably) easier to use Aug 05 20:12:21 gcc/gdb Aug 05 20:13:07 I know gcc works for the PIC32, there's microchip nice library with tons of examples. about gdb, not so sure. I think pickitv3 can do ICE debugging Aug 05 20:13:33 cde: the lcd cape is compatible with BBB Aug 05 20:13:51 ok Aug 05 20:14:04 cde: well, I considered PIC32, too; what convinced me was the discovery kits that have everything including an stlink programmer for about 20 euro total Aug 05 20:14:29 that's quite cheaper than the pickit3 Aug 05 20:14:30 well, everything may be an exaggeration, but it was enough to get me sorted Aug 05 20:14:54 might be cheaper but got to think what a PIC32 as an MCU can do Aug 05 20:15:06 and for what cost on a per MCU basis Aug 05 20:15:19 m_billybob: comparing to STM32? not sure if they're THAT much different in terms of capabilities? Aug 05 20:15:36 personally I think the PIC32 is somethign I'd liek ot work with eventually. specs on them are very impressive Aug 05 20:15:54 price... 10ish euro for an average STM32F30x/STM32F40x Aug 05 20:16:06 kfoltman i dont know either well. I'd have to work with both to form a proper opinion Aug 05 20:16:14 you can run 2.11BSD on it! that was a selling point for me Aug 05 20:16:15 well im talkign chips Aug 05 20:16:40 several *good* PIC32's can be had for ~$2 an MCU Aug 05 20:16:49 with very quick USB capabilities Aug 05 20:16:50 cde: for what I was doing, no operating system was the best operating system ;) Aug 05 20:17:00 $2, that's really low Aug 05 20:17:08 m_billybob: I got a handful for free (samples), industrial grade even. very cool Aug 05 20:17:17 PIC32 is great. I'm still using a lot of PIC24's Aug 05 20:17:41 m_billybob: you can get an F051 for not much more, but it's probably underpowered comparing to PIC32 Aug 05 20:18:13 eventually ill get aroudn to workign with PIC its ben on my long term todo list Aug 05 20:18:48 the STM32 F4 discovery boards look cool too, just not sure if il invest much time in them or not yet Aug 05 20:19:01 so much stuff to play with now as it is Aug 05 20:21:00 mrpackethead, how long have you been using PIC ? Aug 05 20:21:09 a long time Aug 05 20:21:20 198x Aug 05 20:21:55 cde and kfoltman: thanks guys for your comments, I supose the only way is buy another one. Aug 05 20:22:03 ah cool. SO yeah, seems lots of people use them for highspeed IO stuffs Aug 05 20:22:19 JoanK81: I guess so. sorry about your loss Aug 05 20:22:22 theres all sorts of use-cases Aug 05 20:22:33 i'm very much a best tool for the job guy Aug 05 20:22:41 sure Aug 05 20:23:07 wasnt implying that "you must use this and only this for every occation" Aug 05 20:23:23 i rather like the valueline MSP430's here i have some experience Aug 05 20:24:11 but it it has limite ram and flash, and is not particularly fast. But for small projects, that require only minimal IO it is pretty good Aug 05 20:24:25 and cheap-ish Aug 05 20:24:46 I'm not sure if I want to learn a new, completely different MCU platform, though I can't rule that out, it's not like STM didn't annoy me many times ;) Aug 05 20:25:06 and it was hard to beat a programmer/debugger with two MCUs for $4.30 Aug 05 20:25:27 canid: that's subsidized though Aug 05 20:25:29 canid they run $9.99 now days Aug 05 20:25:37 hence the word 'was' Aug 05 20:25:39 but still Aug 05 20:25:48 I think discovery boards are subsidized too Aug 05 20:26:04 I suspect they may be a new launchpad on the horizon Aug 05 20:26:06 even at $10 that's cheap to get started Aug 05 20:26:10 there may be* Aug 05 20:26:22 canid: you can have a low-end M0 for about that much Aug 05 20:26:26 its stil an incredible value at 10 bux i agree Aug 05 20:26:29 board, not chip Aug 05 20:27:12 kfoltman but the msp430 launchpad is a complete development kit, with a good community to back it as well as gcc tools Aug 05 20:27:18 are there cortex-m4 in dil? Aug 05 20:27:20 my buck regulator is not working Aug 05 20:27:21 m_billybob: yes - and so are discovery boards Aug 05 20:27:34 cde: dil? are we back to 80's? ;P Aug 05 20:27:49 DIP is handy. Aug 05 20:27:50 kfoltman ok so how much more power will an STM32 use by comparrison ? Aug 05 20:27:52 mrpackethead: so you now have lots of unregulated bucks? Aug 05 20:27:59 tehre is a place for the MSP430 rest assured ;) Aug 05 20:28:15 i'm missing 1.8V Aug 05 20:28:16 m_billybob: no idea, depends on periperhals - I guess more in general Aug 05 20:28:17 :-( Aug 05 20:28:23 I did like the f3 and f4 discovery boards a lot though Aug 05 20:28:40 they do look nice Aug 05 20:28:40 there's pretty much a place for all of them Aug 05 20:28:43 m_billybob: sure, there are some uses for attinies and the likes too ;) Aug 05 20:28:52 pic12s Aug 05 20:29:06 dip is handy indeed, I need to get some of those DIP Cortex-M0+ Aug 05 20:29:19 ok, what the hell, it's a useless lazy day anyway... *goes to read more about pic32* Aug 05 20:29:22 LCP114's or 800 series ? Aug 05 20:29:28 1114's* Aug 05 20:29:34 1114FN28 or something Aug 05 20:29:42 I've seen the LPC ones Aug 05 20:29:42 the 800 is like dip 8? Aug 05 20:29:54 like hackaday or adafruit or something Aug 05 20:29:59 looked handy indeed Aug 05 20:30:01 teah it is suppoed to have a 20 pin variant too not sure of the package type Aug 05 20:30:02 http://www.nxp.com/products/microcontrollers/cortex_m0_m0/LPC1114FN28.html Aug 05 20:30:03 this one Aug 05 20:30:03 m_billybob, thanks for your help with the booting. you to av500 . May I ask one more question: I need to compile a driver for the bbb, but I am getting an error that /lib/modules/3.8.13/build doesnt exist. I've read somewhere that this is a symlink issue Aug 05 20:30:09 you can always use a breakout board with a big-ass qfp Aug 05 20:30:11 i have kernel-dev and kernel-headers installed Aug 05 20:30:14 they dotn exist as in you can not buy them yet ( or find them ) Aug 05 20:30:56 kfoltman: schmartboard, yes. do you know of others, less expensive? Aug 05 20:30:57 fishhead2567, im still a novice linux dever myself so yeah i dont know. sorry. Aug 05 20:30:58 Though I was absolutely floored by my experience with Oshpark Aug 05 20:31:08 I like the programming of the LPC 1114 - at least on paper.. just tie one pin to gnd and you have a serial upload bootloader Aug 05 20:31:22 so getting 1 or a couple boards made on the cheap is finally an option for me Aug 05 20:31:35 fishhead2567: compile which driver? Aug 05 20:31:44 Vaizki i know a few people who have used them, they seem to like them a lot. you do not need a whole board to program one either. but they do have their quirks Aug 05 20:31:46 Vaizki VCP driver Aug 05 20:31:49 I know there have long been other group-guy programs for fabrication too, but that was mad easy. Aug 05 20:32:09 fishhead2567: I'm sure they are in the kernel? :O Aug 05 20:32:48 cde: breakouts? there are tonnes of these Aug 05 20:32:53 oh really? it is possible. please humor me in case it isn't if you know how i migh get the driver to find the right directory Vaizki Aug 05 20:32:55 m_billybob: from what I saw it seems the I/O are pretty tied to specific pins at least Aug 05 20:33:03 kfoltman: ok. but what would you use? Aug 05 20:33:09 fishhead2567: what chip in the usb serial? Aug 05 20:33:17 technically wit hthe LCP1114's from memory all you need is a serial module, a resistor and a cap Aug 05 20:33:23 cde: I've ordered a few from ebay, I'll let you know if I get any good results from them Aug 05 20:33:31 cde: SOICs, SSOPs, TQFPs... Aug 05 20:33:39 tp program one, that is a very good "feature" in of its self Aug 05 20:33:40 m_billybob: just the serial Aug 05 20:33:55 tie one pin to ground, that's it Aug 05 20:34:00 Vaizki reset though ;) Aug 05 20:34:12 Vaizki i am not sure =/ Aug 05 20:34:21 anyhow i know its easy and cheap to program one Aug 05 20:34:38 fishhead2567: you tried plugging it in and it doesn't work? Aug 05 20:34:57 Vaizki. actually not yet, it was such a specific device i did not expect drivers to be in the kernel Aug 05 20:34:58 cde: there are also some header boards with mcu already soldered on, waveshare is a chinese example, and olimex is a european one Aug 05 20:35:13 cde: (company names, not board names) Aug 05 20:35:27 cde: should be good enough for breadboards and the likes Aug 05 20:35:34 fishhead2567: plug it in and see if you get a new /dev/tty* device.. lsusb shows what hardware it is. Aug 05 20:35:45 cant hurt =D Aug 05 20:36:04 wait what module is this for ? Aug 05 20:36:07 * m_billybob missed it Aug 05 20:36:17 some usb serial Aug 05 20:36:31 ah Aug 05 20:36:32 I'm pretty sure if it's got a driver then it's available as a module.. Aug 05 20:36:38 virtual come port emulator ? Aug 05 20:36:42 com* Aug 05 20:37:19 yup yup Aug 05 20:37:20 yeah not sure, but it sounds reasonable Aug 05 20:37:39 that is an unpleasant sounding typo Aug 05 20:37:45 m_billybob: http://vilaca.eu/lpc1114/ Aug 05 20:37:56 programming looks pretty damn easy Aug 05 20:38:18 yes sir Aug 05 20:38:55 thanks for the link btw i had not seen that one yet bookmarked lol Aug 05 20:39:08 now I just need some place to sell it to me with low shipping cost to Finland Aug 05 20:39:17 eeek Aug 05 20:39:18 or maybe just build a bigger basket at digikey Aug 05 20:39:33 but then it's customs etc :P Aug 05 20:39:36 yeah euro sucks sometimes for having parts shipped to Aug 05 20:39:37 ok, so this pic thingy has only 10 bit adcs... oh well, maybe that's better than 12 bit adcs on stm with 60 LSB noise :P Aug 05 20:39:42 so i understand Aug 05 20:39:57 m_billybob: definitely Aug 05 20:40:05 thanks kfoltman. olimex is nice indeed Aug 05 20:40:08 depends, lots of ok sellers in the UK that cheaply ship to Finland Aug 05 20:40:13 vaizki neither ls /dev/tty* nor lsusb changes with device entered. it also does not light up Aug 05 20:40:16 farnell... Aug 05 20:40:25 getting something in dmesg i think, but i dont understand it Aug 05 20:40:29 fishhead2567: are you powering the BBB from USB? Aug 05 20:40:36 fishhead2567 pastebin it Aug 05 20:40:39 Vaizki, WHOOPS! Aug 05 20:40:41 one sec Aug 05 20:40:46 i have my ac adapter next to it Aug 05 20:40:49 just had it unplugged Aug 05 20:40:50 right... Aug 05 20:40:50 fishhead2567: try using a wall plug Aug 05 20:41:27 switched to wall power but will i need a reboot or anything to make it see the new power? Aug 05 20:41:58 can always unplug the USN and find out lol Aug 05 20:42:02 USB* Aug 05 20:42:12 farnell only has LPC1114 in US warehouse which is +25 euros + customs + vat for me Aug 05 20:42:16 it didnt shut off but im rebooting just in case it wont power on the usb port Aug 05 20:42:17 HA! Aug 05 20:42:23 lights on my usb drive now Aug 05 20:42:39 well drive is the wrong word Aug 05 20:43:03 vaizki after reboot on usb i got it in lsusb! Aug 05 20:43:05 why is it when somebdy in europe wants to order something, they only have it in stock here, and when I want to, it's only in stock in the EU or Asia? Aug 05 20:43:14 I think we're being flim-flammed! Aug 05 20:43:25 Vaizki yeah that sucks. One of the only good thigns about living the the US now days is "cheap" electronics ( by comparrison ) Aug 05 20:45:15 canid, can always get a friend / buddy in asia or america somewhere to ship you stuff, although i dotn know if that is legal or would help Aug 05 20:46:11 bbiaf though need to heat up some red snapper ( nom nom nom ) Aug 05 20:46:40 I don't want to bother people like that for a few dollars.. Aug 05 20:47:21 Would be cheaper for the expensive stuff I bet Aug 05 20:47:23 I usually buy components that I only need a few pieces from ebay sellers that I've found to be good Aug 05 20:47:40 Vaizki: plus customs plus vat??? Aug 05 20:47:45 but LPC1114FN28 wasn't available Aug 05 20:47:47 Don't think I would try it on export control (ITAR) regulated goods Aug 05 20:48:00 I can't imagine that looking good on paper :D Aug 05 20:48:10 Vaizki: I think the farnell prices are normally ex-vat so you need to add vat in any case, US stock or not Aug 05 20:48:35 maybe, but there's the extra pain of declaring it and paying customs etc Aug 05 20:48:46 digikey and mouser are both very good at sending stuff anywhere Aug 05 20:48:50 Vaizki: ????? Aug 05 20:48:59 Vaizki: don't they pretty much do that for you? Aug 05 20:49:08 Vaizki: I mean, I haven't tried it Aug 05 20:49:10 kfoltman: who? Aug 05 20:49:14 Vaizki: farnell Aug 05 20:49:21 kfoltman: no? Aug 05 20:49:31 they don't send it to their warehouse first? Aug 05 20:49:43 if they fedex it, then yea fedex does it for me. and charges like 24 euros for the pleasure. Aug 05 20:50:10 kfoltman: ok that could be yes that farnell routes it through their own EU warehouse Aug 05 20:50:26 dunno. might check. but it's easier to find another place to buy :) Aug 05 20:51:38 Vaizki: for <20 euro imports from china (genuinely 20 euro, not mobile phones declared as 20 euro value) you're not likely to pay any tax/vat anyway I think Aug 05 20:52:50 Vaizki: I get various stuff from itead/seeed/Chinese/Thai ebay sellers, and never got hassled - but those are usually things like discrete elements, pin headers, small displays or basic TTL/CMOS chips Aug 05 20:53:18 (Ireland) Aug 05 20:54:15 vaizki it appears to show up correctly. my application didnt build tho (thought it had) there is a problem with lubcurl-dev on angrstrom currently. i compiled from source but doesnt seem like the headers are getting included right Aug 05 20:57:54 Vaizki: in Ireland, Farnell do overnight shipping, which is pretty much amazing :) Aug 05 20:58:50 esp. comparing to ebay from China, where you have lead time of 4 weeks or so :) Aug 05 21:12:48 bah fish is never quite as good the second day after being cooked Aug 05 21:13:39 s/cooked/caught/ Aug 05 21:14:06 both apply Aug 05 21:14:18 one implies the other Aug 05 21:14:30 i live inland though so same day caugth fish is pretty much a nogo especially for somethign like red snapper Aug 05 21:16:34 well seafood i mean Aug 05 21:17:12 sigh... stupid curl! when compiling from source, after make install one should essentially have the dev headers and the binary correct? Aug 05 21:21:52 any pointer to what changed with QAbstractFileEngineHandler in Qt5 ? Aug 05 21:22:02 fatal error: QAbstractFileEngine: No such file or directory Aug 05 21:36:44 hrmm, beagleboard.org irc logs for this channel stopped working last month Aug 05 21:36:46 :-| Aug 05 21:39:31 awesome Aug 05 21:39:44 the best of #beagle is available though Aug 05 21:39:48 hahah Aug 05 21:39:48 quick, say dirty things before they come back up Aug 05 21:40:11 mru: we should make 26+26=54 a hardbound book Aug 05 21:40:30 of course their would be about 20 copies sold Aug 05 21:40:56 is that the number of people quoted? Aug 05 21:42:39 the pins on the BBB, gpio ports are 3.3v or 5v ? Aug 05 21:43:02 3.3v afaik Aug 05 21:44:09 vvu, they're 12v. Aug 05 21:44:19 but 48v tolerant. Aug 05 21:44:33 mru: probably Aug 05 21:44:38 with very short excursions to 120v AC allowed. Aug 05 21:44:43 pru_evtout_2: you like smoke? Aug 05 21:44:55 * mranostay needs to step up his trolling haven't been listed in like 30 entries :P Aug 05 21:44:56 it smells like heaven. Aug 05 21:45:10 this is not the smoke you are looking for Aug 05 21:45:13 pru_evtout_2: better than flux fumes? Aug 05 21:45:29 no way. flux smoke has that nice fruity smell to it. Aug 05 21:45:41 pru_evtout_2: not today, maybe 2morrow will have 12v there Aug 05 21:46:05 just don't go above 1kV and you should be good. Aug 05 21:46:20 going to dexters lab and will test Aug 05 21:46:30 the part can handle more, but the pins will start arcing together around 1kV Aug 05 21:47:12 * mru has an overvoltage protector: http://hardwarebug.org/files/beagle_overvoltage.jpg Aug 05 21:47:24 lol, nice mru. Aug 05 21:47:43 although, it'd probably be safer in tinfoil Aug 05 21:47:54 that glass could hold a pesky charge. Aug 05 21:49:09 I should try booting that old beagle some day Aug 05 21:49:46 if you would have used a pyramidic shape it might have sharpened its edges over time Aug 05 21:50:41 well ill be damned vaizki, m_billybob the driver was installed. once i got the app compiled... its working! Aug 05 21:50:55 something must be wrong then. Aug 05 21:51:31 yes, now quickly unplug it and submerge it in water before you encounter any further progress Aug 05 21:51:42 hahaha Aug 05 21:52:27 i have found this platform to be really tough to work with. the original angstrom image was all kinds of nuts. but the community has been immensely helpful. thanks again vaizki, m_billybob, av500 Aug 05 21:53:04 well I mainly told you to plug in the usb cable Aug 05 21:53:10 so.. you're welcome! Aug 05 21:54:10 oh yeah and lsusb. I did that. I rock. Aug 05 21:54:28 hehehe Aug 05 21:54:34 fishhead2567: gl hf! Aug 05 21:55:56 koen: I'm looking at the TiWi page on beagleboardtoys, and it says it's supported in angstrom 03.27.13. I downloaded that image, and it's using the 3.2 kernel. I grepped for tiwi in the patches (meta-ti/recipes-kernel/linux-ti33x-psp-3.2), and don't see anything related to it. The references to it in the old board file seem to be only for the on-board wl12xx modules on the EVMs. What did I miss, or is the page on beagleboardtoys wrong? Aug 05 21:56:10 koen: http://beagleboardtoys.info/index.php?title=BeagleBone_TiWi-5E_w/_EXT._Antenna Aug 05 21:57:14 koen: I didn't actually _try_ the image. I'm mostly looking for source to do some DT for this cape. Aug 05 22:01:41 alan_o: you are missing the x86 advantage :P Aug 05 22:06:59 mranostay: hmmm maybe. maybe I should get me a minnowboard :-D Aug 05 22:11:30 any idea how i can see angstrom dmesg continuously ? Aug 05 22:11:39 to tail the syslog Aug 05 22:13:22 vvu dmesg works in angstrom Aug 05 22:13:48 yes, but i need to see continuous message from it Aug 05 22:14:05 like in ubuntu tail /var/log/syslog...but angstrom uses journal stuff *dunno how it works* Aug 05 22:15:08 x86 advantage? there is an x86 advantage? Aug 05 22:15:32 ahhh. that i am not sure of Aug 05 22:16:06 write a bash script to call dmesg and pipe to tail every few seconds. i know that option sucks but it may work =/ Aug 05 22:17:03 lol quote of the day ! Aug 05 22:17:05 [14:51] yes, now quickly unplug it and submerge it in water before you encounter any further progress Aug 05 22:17:16 except you toild him wrong Vaizki Aug 05 22:17:26 must leave it plugged in for that to work Aug 05 22:17:59 fishhead2567: journalctl -b -f works :) Aug 05 22:20:46 hmm need new project. maybe getting usbnet booting working ? . . . Aug 05 22:21:05 seems so . . . ug boring though Aug 05 22:22:08 then of course, once i get it workign ill have 50 people telling me, "yeah of course it works here are the proper uEnv.txt uboot environment varibels you need . ." Aug 05 22:36:17 m_billybob: Of course. Aug 05 22:40:21 m_billybob: that's the officially sanctioned procedure Aug 05 22:44:38 hey guys? i'm so excited? Mailman should be delivering my BBB soon Aug 05 22:45:00 so, today i'm making device tree overlays for all gpio, i2c, and pru pins. if i survive this, is there somewhere nice i could put them so nobody will have to do this again? Aug 05 22:46:47 kfoltman its all good though. Beter way to learn like that Aug 05 22:47:18 pru_evtout_2: like a github? :P Aug 05 22:48:25 is there a list of projects outthere? Aug 05 22:50:27 seen teh beagleboard.org page? Aug 05 23:56:11 i'm getting the feeling that device tree stuff completely disregards the concept of "incremental change". Aug 06 00:16:24 Vaizki: i saw you looking at the lpc1114 .. you might be interested in this link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhIbUzSEOlORdHh6QjJRZXdmY0ZPc2dER1loWHVUM2c#gid=0 Aug 06 00:18:33 so, i don't see a place to add "exclusive-use" to the device tree overlays Aug 06 00:19:25 this doesn't make sense to me. if overlays or a type of "configuration", then a cape doesn't have to always be using some pin. Aug 06 00:19:39 *if overlays are Aug 06 00:19:52 meh, i'll throw it in and see what happens. Aug 06 01:02:23 I am looking for confirmation on the BBB's ability to have input audio through P9. What is the frequency response of the available codec? Aug 06 02:27:28 trying to get beagleboard to respond to html page Aug 06 02:37:25 mmm, that will be fun Aug 06 02:37:36 beagle will respond if it sees an html page Aug 06 02:41:18 hey Aug 06 02:43:28 the docs are not bad Aug 06 02:46:41 what's the point of bb-gpiohelp-00a0.dts? Aug 06 02:46:52 just configure two random gpio? Aug 06 02:47:06 or is it supposed to be used as an example? Aug 06 02:49:17 why isn't there an overlay for i2c-2? Aug 06 02:49:53 err...real world i2c-1. Aug 06 02:52:31 pru_evtout_2: because most people use i2c2 by default as it is configured already **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Aug 06 02:59:58 2013
