Feb 08 08:07:17 uhhimhere: i'm going with yes Feb 08 08:07:45 looking at Kconfig, USB_OTG depends on USB_GADGET_OMAP Feb 08 08:08:05 you sure not the other way aroun Feb 08 08:08:39 and there's also USB_OMAP which selects USB_GADGET by default Feb 08 08:14:35 http://www.linux-usb.org/gadget/ Feb 08 08:14:43 The API makes it easy for peripherals and other devices embedding GNU/Linux system software to act in the USB "device" (slave) role. Feb 08 08:14:59 so its for linux-linux OTG? Feb 08 08:15:29 ie not needed for linux-dumb device like keyboard or memstick? Feb 08 17:25:13 <_ssl> how do i enable a custom devicetree overlay in the 3.14 kernel debian images where there is no capemanager and slots file? Feb 08 17:26:43 yes that changed, there should be something for it. have you checked RCN's webpages and the bb forum/mailinglist yet? Feb 08 17:29:13 <_ssl> can't find any documentation on this Feb 08 17:31:31 http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:Capes_3.8_to_3.14 Feb 08 17:32:07 looks like it doesn't do overlays? so just put your custom tree together, build it and boot with it as explained there Feb 08 17:36:35 <_ssl> tbr, did you follow the 'instructions' on that page already? im having serious problems understanding what i need to do Feb 08 17:37:02 <_ssl> that whole page has like 1 complete sentence Feb 08 17:38:34 <_ssl> i need to git clone the rebuilder, check. but what do i need to do after that? where to put my custom dts file? Feb 08 23:22:46 can I just say, that watching people try and work out what the U16 part is that's causing the RPi2 to crash is kinda amusing Feb 08 23:22:59 also a bit of pointed commentary about Open Hardware Feb 08 23:40:35 Tinkered around with Arch ARM a little earlier Feb 08 23:40:46 Is debian the only distro that has USB gadget out of box? Feb 09 01:01:14 I am so frustrated... i am using Cloud9 to send PWM pulses but can only find 3 channels that work! Feb 09 01:01:28 Can anyone shed any light on this? Feb 09 01:02:49 hello is anyone here? Feb 09 01:23:23 no, nobody's here .. thats why the stats say 280 nicks listed .. Feb 09 01:24:30 * vvu is hiding in plain sight Feb 09 01:45:39 Hello Feb 09 01:46:22 I am wanting to learn more about BBB and wondering where to start Feb 09 01:46:48 I am wanting to develop a GUI but am unsure what distro i should be using Feb 09 02:05:43 Hi everyone, has anyone had any success getting bonescript working without cloudIDE9 Feb 09 02:08:05 gmle: this channel seems to be a strange place. lots of people in here but no talking? Feb 09 02:08:21 I asked a question 20 minutes ago and no one has spoken Feb 09 02:08:35 its a ghost town lol Feb 09 02:08:39 That sucks Feb 09 02:08:51 what was your question? Feb 09 02:09:47 I want to build a GUI in linux and run it on the BBB with a small LCD. I am wondering what tool chain and distro is best to use for this Feb 09 02:10:13 Debian is provided with the board but most documentation I can find is for angstrom Feb 09 02:10:47 Hmm. Feb 09 02:11:10 there isn't too much documentation on debian unfortunately Feb 09 02:11:28 I would try posting in the forms and see what you get, I can't answer your question unfortunately Feb 09 02:11:33 I think the BBB is a great platform but really lacks documentation Feb 09 02:11:42 so true. Feb 09 02:11:42 right, I think thats good advise, thanks Feb 09 02:11:54 You could search for raspberry pi Feb 09 02:12:21 instead of searching for BBB search your question for raspberry PI Feb 09 02:12:26 yea I thought about that but its based on some broadcom chip Feb 09 02:12:26 hardware wise they are very similar Feb 09 02:12:32 really? Feb 09 02:12:38 thats an interesting thought Feb 09 02:12:45 yeah they both have arm processors Feb 09 02:12:52 right Feb 09 02:13:11 ill have to see if debian is supported on both Feb 09 02:13:14 i've had success with it in the past Feb 09 02:13:38 alright, thanks for the idea Feb 09 02:13:58 no problem. Good luck with the project Feb 09 02:14:05 you too Feb 09 02:20:27 I'm using RCN's 2015-01-06 prebuilt Debian wheezy image (Linux 3.18.1-armv7-x2) on my BeagleBoard-xM Rev. C1, but I'm having trouble getting spidev to work (with flashrom). I get "No EEPROM/flash device found." which suggests something isn't connected, but I've checked all the pinouts and connections and I've tried the BB-xM's SPI channels 3 and 4. Am I missing something? Feb 09 02:24:11 pehjota: sorry I cant help with this question but could you tell me what software you are doing your development in? Qt, eclipse, etc? Feb 09 02:31:01 rfhv: I don't do graphical application development, but if I did I'd probably use GTK+. I'm a distribution developer who dabbles in hardware. To your earlier question, that's not specific to the BBB or any particular distribution. Pick a language, a widget toolkit (e.g. GTK+ or Qt) and a distribution (Debian is fine). You don't need docs for Debian on the BBB to learn about GUI's; a GTK+ tutorial is Feb 09 02:31:02 fine. Then either compile your application natively on the BBB or get a cross toolchain (better for huge programs). Feb 09 02:35:33 thanks for the advise **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Feb 09 02:59:58 2015
