**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Jul 11 03:00:03 2018 Jul 11 03:05:17 I can get my software to run but creating a .service file does not make my software run. How can I make my .service file work w/ a simple file.js file in /home/debian? Jul 11 03:05:47 zmatt: I listened and it did not work. Jul 11 03:06:20 ... Jul 11 03:06:44 My service is working at first and then it stops for some reason. Jul 11 03:07:30 Forget it...it is late. Jul 11 03:07:36 Until tomorrow. Jul 11 03:07:58 did you remove the "Type=oneshot" ? Jul 11 03:12:25 (otherwise the "for some reason" is "because systemd's patience expired and it took a shotgun to help your oneshot service "finish") Jul 11 03:48:21 quit Jul 11 03:48:29 fail Jul 11 05:54:25 wayland/weston sounds wasteful on so little ram [16:55] yeah we don't use wayland, just qt5 with its eglfs backend Jul 11 05:54:55 how can I go on about that? Jul 11 05:58:08 1. get the sgx drivers working 2. patch qt to support 16-bit color Jul 11 05:58:34 the easy way is to install the sgx modules package for the kernel you're using, and with some luck my debian packages for the userspace libs work: https://liktaanjeneus.nl/sgx/ Jul 11 05:58:56 there's also a perl script there that does a binary patch to qt Jul 11 05:59:13 since I was too lazy to try to recompile qt Jul 11 06:56:27 ok zmatt. I'll try that and I will post feedback next week. Jul 11 11:15:31 does anyone have a clue why the Windows 7 X64 drivers just don't work for Original Beaglebone Black? I have 2, and with Updated Debian, they never show up on USB interface. Jul 11 11:23:39 I know that current images don't require any driver on sufficiently recent versions of windows Jul 11 11:24:49 in all cases it's the fault of windows... the beaglebone supports both the usb standard device class for ethernet *and* microsoft's own RNDIS protocol for which a driver is built into windows. it is (or at least it was) just bizarrely difficult to convince Windows to use its own effin' drivers Jul 11 11:33:41 Seems that way... the driver installer (Bone_D64?) seems to do its job. The best I can get from it is RDNIS. The CDC devices are "errored out" in the device manager no matter what I try. Jul 11 11:34:17 But then I use Windows 7 x64 and apparently I'm *supposed* to be using Windows 10. Jul 11 12:13:28 on windows 10 it should work plug-and-play Jul 11 12:14:15 because microsoft made windows slightly less broken w.r.t. usb class drivers :P Jul 11 12:14:54 but, you're saying you have rndis working? what problem are you still having then? Jul 11 12:16:05 the cdc-ecm interface isn't supported by microsoft at all, because fuck open standards I guess, but you only need *either* rndis *or* cdc-ecm, not both Jul 11 13:06:05 Ah... it was concerning me that the items ended up in device list as broken... but then... I was also not seeing the USB ETHERNET or USB SERIAL working. Jul 11 13:32:03 pwillard: but rndis *is* usb ethernet... one of the two at least Jul 11 13:32:45 usb serial is again the same problem, windows has a built-in driver but it's a pain to convince it to actually use it Jul 11 14:18:11 yeah... that has been my issue. I see it show up... just can't use it. Jul 11 20:48:00 zmatt: do you have the interrupt and dma numbers for the x15 mcspi devices? Jul 11 22:03:56 I've got a BBG and ADT7516 ( temp sensor ) eval board. I connected them with grove connector. Given both the BBG and the board will be running off separate USB leads, they will have a shared ground already. So I've not connected the GND and VCC Jul 11 22:05:14 when I do i2cdetect -y -r 2, I get the output as 0x51 which is the I2C address for AM335x. Jul 11 22:06:02 AM335x is the sensor on the BB, hence this shows that eval board is not connected. Jul 11 22:07:02 So what else can I do here for it to be connected? Am I doing something wrong? Jul 11 23:12:12 I am back. I am on freedesktop.org and looking at software/systemd/systemd.unit so I can make my .service file work. Jul 11 23:12:38 I have found all of everything that has to do w/ ideas/theory. Jul 11 23:12:39 ... Jul 11 23:12:57 Do I need to restart my daemon to enable and start a .service file? Jul 11 23:13:37 Here is some background: I have a .js file and a .html file. I want to make these files work on boot/every boot. Jul 11 23:13:39 ... Jul 11 23:22:09 Oh? Jul 11 23:22:22 Do I need a .service file for each file, e.g. the .js and .html file? Jul 11 23:23:31 Forget it. The damn file no longer works. Jul 11 23:23:33 Yikes! Jul 11 23:58:05 @zmatt: Hi! Jul 11 23:59:04 @zmatt: While connecting the BBB to matlab and running a script I get the error message:"Warning: Error executing command: bash: /etc/hosts: Permission denied" Jul 12 00:45:49 set_ is back so we have set back. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Jul 12 03:00:01 2018
