I want to use an beagleboneAI with an LCD/ LCD cape:  https://www.waveshare.com/w/upload/9/93/LCD_CAPE_Schematic.pdf Jan 16 21:02:49 there is someone that can help me? Jan 16 21:06:08 Im using debian: AM5729 Debian 10.3 2020-04-06 8GB SD IoT TIDL Jan 16 21:35:17 Hello All, I need some help. I want to use an beagleboneAI with debian 10.3 with an LCD/ LCD cape: https://www.waveshare.com/w/upload/9/93/LCD_CAPE_Schematic.pdf  There is someone that can help me? Jan 16 22:26:01 set_, off the shelf laser drivers are available, however it depends on if it's a semiconductor (IE laser diode) discharge laser (uses a gas) or a pumped laser (uses a emission source to energize the laser). So I assume semiconductor you need to read the specs for the diode carefully. Further you also need to know the bandwidth you plan to drive it at. IE how fast you wish to change it's current drive. Jan 16 22:48:48 gas. Jan 16 22:49:30 I have a gas laser for use for now. I will keep on reading on. Jan 16 22:50:17 I have a driver for it. BBG! PRU! Jan 16 22:53:56 gas laser are not as simple to drive FYI. Jan 16 22:57:11 I understand. Jan 16 22:58:00 I have the built in driver and connections along w/ the hardware that handles PWM/GPIO/1/0, etc. Jan 16 23:00:49 The issue so far is that drivers for motors (done) are expensive for running 24v through them, the Single Strand (heavy duty) power connection to the laser (done) is going to need a few days or prep work, and the rest of the PSU has these wires that are (so far) dysfunctional b/c I do not know anything about them. Jan 16 23:00:50 ... Jan 16 23:01:16 The PSU for all I know is a PSU/Driver/Thing w/out paperwork. Blah. Dang it. Jan 16 23:02:14 GenTooMan: Is there a way to figure out what is PWM/GPIO/i2c or whatever that comes from the mistook lines/wires out of the psu/driver? Jan 16 23:04:20 I have the o-scope but am lacking ideas so far. I will research the way i2c/gpio/pwm look in the o-scope so I can tell. Jan 16 23:04:55 This may be a reasonable way to go about things. I can start small, 5v or 3.3v, and work my way up. Jan 16 23:05:15 Too bad I do not have a filter. Jan 16 23:06:56 Well...anyway. I know the company would not approve of me dismantling their machine I purchased but woof. They stopped supplying the correct resources. Jan 16 23:08:35 The machine is '13 w/ a working laser (gas). The steppers still move, the laser fires, and the damn connection to the machine w/ their add-on/daughter card is, well, not getting anywhere these days ('13). Blah. Jan 16 23:10:13 I suggest look at the given schematic for the Laser and how to drive it first. Jan 16 23:10:23 None. Jan 16 23:10:41 I know...that was my first resource to look at then but it never did exist. Jan 16 23:12:02 I am the only one that knows about it! Aw. Ha. So, their Stellaris from TI is gone, unoperable, and the daughter card is no more (useless). It worked for six years. What can I say. They tried. Jan 16 23:12:40 Money shifted hands. New ideas came in. People got shifted around. Blah. Okay. Blah. Not this chat issue or anything... Jan 16 23:13:03 But...the BBG in question came w/ a nice schematic. Jan 16 23:16:32 It says this, that, and then some. So, I use motor drivers, a GUI, and figure out what powers what...if I can. And then, I can try to configure the right pin diagram to let others know...! Jan 16 23:17:44 It is not easy. You know this, man! One wrong move, poof. The whole atmosphere turns sour in the ole garage! Jan 16 23:18:56 Hopefully, their silkscreen on the driver is a bit more helpful than the co. I talk messes of mess about companies. Everyone knows this about me. Jan 16 23:19:02 ... Jan 16 23:19:50 I just know I am missing the bigger picture. I could use 90w instead of 40w or galvo? Jan 16 23:20:18 Fibers! That is where it is at now! Shove in and passed the metal! Jan 16 23:20:33 the schematic can tell a lot in how to drive it Jan 16 23:21:06 GenTooMan: There is no schematic. You mean for the XMOS or Stellaris? Jan 16 23:22:06 These people at the co. did their own Stellaris. I knew I should not have cut the wires...I could have tested the wires in the housings. Jan 16 23:24:56 what the ... well I guess it's totally done for yep Jan 16 23:25:02 No! Jan 16 23:25:33 It is not. Do you understand about the way to power something to get feedback from the oscope? Jan 16 23:26:03 Fine. Jan 16 23:26:48 No issue. The wires have been cut (trimmed) out of the housing (screw terminals), taped, marked in bunches, and now I can slowly move on. Jan 16 23:28:02 And by "slowly move on," I mean move into more fascinating progress and tech. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Jan 17 02:59:56 2023
