**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Dec 22 02:59:57 2011 Dec 22 13:53:45 Please let me know if there is a better place to ask this type of question. I'm running v2.3.7.0 beta 2 on a 2.0n, and I'd like to limit the "free wifi" bandwidth (due to high cost of bandwidth here). I've dragged the slider down on https://www.fon.com/en/userzone , but due to that this page also shows the wrong SSID for the "public signal", I don't trust it at the moment; and anyhow when I test the throughput it's way higher than expected. Can I co Dec 22 13:53:46 nfigure it myself with ssh access? Dec 22 13:59:55 nick_fn: There is only one way communication from the userzone to your Fonera, so if you change the SSID on your Fonera, it's not changed on the userzone (only v.v.) Dec 22 14:02:27 I see, thanks. What I've tried now is to update ALL the settings (public signal, passwords, etc.) from userzone in case that makes the bandwidth limit activate too. But I hate to type in such passwords to a website :-/ Dec 22 14:02:29 What is v.v. ? Dec 22 14:03:15 vice versa Dec 22 14:03:31 IIRC it doesn't change the password if you leave it empty Dec 22 14:03:50 The little "*" against those settings made me think I *had* to enter them Dec 22 14:04:10 Hmm, those are just confusing, I'm afraid Dec 22 14:04:19 But you should be able to check the bandwidth limit through SSH, but I'm not sure how Dec 22 14:04:39 if you change something in the userzone, the FON servers send some script to the Fonera to change those settings Dec 22 14:05:01 I changed the "public signal" name via userzone, so I can tell when at least that arrives on the device. Can I encourage the device to check in with userzone? I rebooted in case that did it. Dec 22 14:07:14 hmm, maybe I can do it with /etc/config/qos - there is a 'hotspot' 'upload' and 'download' option Dec 22 14:08:03 Could very well be that that is the mechanism the userzone uses (or is supposed to) Dec 22 14:08:22 I don't have access to fatserver source code I think, so I can't check that Dec 22 14:19:58 I gotta run now, though Dec 22 14:20:07 cya, thanks. Dec 22 14:29:15 hmm, maybe this isn't doing so well. Via the fon (private) wifi I only get 25Mbps, while with my old AP I get 36MBps (to Internet) Dec 22 15:10:58 seems that was due to allowing b/g/n, it picks and says with g? Now I say only n is supported, and it's faster. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Fri Dec 23 02:59:56 2011
