Jul 13 11:37:48 "Don't put your amphetamines inside the device" Jul 13 11:39:23 xD Jul 13 11:59:05 no worries :) Jul 13 12:01:23 damn that screen is really badly screwed Jul 13 12:01:58 varti[m]: mine had digital rain for a couple of days but then just started working normally again Jul 13 12:02:08 I wonder if the owner did any HW fiddling with the device... Jul 13 12:03:50 adam_b_: that's bad too... did you do anything in particular with it before the issue appeared? Jul 13 12:04:51 it was in a trouser pocket for a three day weekend away, otherwise its been sitting on the desk till it gets swapped for the phone full time after we get calls working in debian Jul 13 12:05:29 worked fine for the three days, then on return home the mon-tue had the rain then worked again when I was about to post it back Jul 13 12:06:46 next away trip is tommorow so we'll see if its a repeatable conditition Jul 13 12:11:08 mines been off for over a week.. 5 percent per hour battery drain in debian and android Jul 13 12:13:22 sb35: you've tried turning off wifi? Jul 13 12:13:56 yes Jul 13 12:14:26 and still 5% per hour? I was getting about 2% drop over 8 hours Jul 13 12:15:35 yep Jul 13 12:21:53 I think my drop is around the same as adab_b_'s Jul 13 12:22:36 Worrying to hear that people have digital rain problems with the gemini already. Jul 13 12:24:59 yea they first suggested reflashing - no impact Jul 13 12:25:19 just opening and closing a few more times was all it took Jul 13 12:25:50 figured dust in the wrong place Jul 13 12:27:28 I'd suspect the ribbon cables or bad gpu placement on the board. Jul 13 13:29:12 I'd guess its related to user patterns in opening the gemini - some are forceful where they need not be. I've been cool so far, have had mine for over a month. Jul 13 13:29:31 If it happens to me, I'd check the cables first. Jul 13 17:15:44 I have awful battery life with Debian and have begrudgingly started to use it with Android more. Jul 13 17:18:57 I've noticed every time I close my Gemini, a key is pressed. If I'm connected to a tmux session I can see on another machine that it hit a key while I closed it, and even in other applications I seem to feel a vibration when closing it. A bit annoying. Jul 13 17:23:24 yea I'm not convinced the saving of half a mm of space is worth the schenanigans of having the 'on' button being pressable whilst the device is closed Jul 13 18:44:35 sound[m]: but does it actually sleep for you? In that situation, it keeps pressing that key, making the Gemini extremely hot and draining battery faster than even a charger can provide. Jul 13 19:18:00 Not sure if I've ever gotten it to sleep on Debian. I had the lockscreen working occasionally, but I don't know if it was sleeping or just displaying black. Jul 13 21:17:23 I think I recall an ssh session staying connected when it was closed for an extended period of time, so it probably was never sleeping. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Jul 14 03:00:00 2018
