**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Sep 20 02:59:57 2011 Sep 20 04:25:08 hi everyone Sep 20 04:25:33 first time on this channel, from a N810 Sep 20 04:29:29 i'm having some troubles about disk space on my 810 Sep 20 04:30:31 could it be solved just moving user folder and mounting point in fstab? Sep 20 04:33:53 There's a good chance that would brick your device. Sep 20 04:34:25 As I suspect the stuff in fstab doesn't get mounted until fairly late in the boot process. Sep 20 04:34:31 what do you mean with brick? Sep 20 04:34:42 As in you'd have to re-flash. Sep 20 04:34:58 what else can i do? Sep 20 04:35:20 i'm having trouble with that base disk full Sep 20 04:36:10 the wiki atleast used to have instructions for how to run from mmc or minisd Sep 20 04:36:20 but i thought it looked complicated Sep 20 04:36:20 and I had trouble a time ago, when space has reached 0b and many apps crashed Sep 20 04:36:58 and I'd have full backups before trying to do the mmcroot thing :s Sep 20 04:37:12 how do you do actually wit it? Sep 20 04:38:04 i mean, how do anyone of you deal with thah space problem? Sep 20 04:39:21 you did move the included video and documentation away from "N810" and to a "memory card", right? Sep 20 04:39:36 right Sep 20 04:40:06 but i think it's not enough, am i wrong? Sep 20 04:40:11 also if you've accidentally saved any other files under N810 Sep 20 04:40:27 well depends what you do Sep 20 04:40:52 * ShadowJK has about 50-60M free on his N800 and N810 Sep 20 04:43:11 http://wiki.maemo.org/Booting_from_a_flash_card What people who needed lots of space in / on N8x0 used to do. Keep in mind if this goes wrong you'll probably have to reflash and lose data.. Sep 20 04:44:43 huh it refers to a script i dont see anywhere Sep 20 04:46:10 ah it was in the getting tools section, duh Sep 20 04:57:16 that's why i wonder if it's good to move user folder to mmc Sep 20 05:05:40 wait, do you have stuff in user folder? Sep 20 05:06:27 oh, hm Sep 20 05:06:58 I have like 27M in /home/user myself on N810 Sep 20 05:08:11 6.7M .thumbnails, 4.2M .mozilla, 1.5M .claws-mail, 1.4M .maemo-mapper... lots of small things adding up :/ Sep 20 05:09:01 I do remember copying .thumbnails to memory card on N800, and creating symlink from /home/user/.thumbnails to it Sep 20 05:32:41 I'm still thinking that 256MB is small for a device Sep 20 05:36:28 how can I merge contacts in maemo 2008? is to solve the duplicate contacs bug Sep 20 05:51:40 oh god, binary distros... build dependency chain: automake -> autoconf -> m4 -> texi2html -> quilt -> hevea -> ocaml-nox. so, suddenly, if one wants to use newer automake package from debian, he needs ocaml Sep 20 06:17:02 \o Sep 20 06:50:44 morning, Maemo Sep 20 08:12:08 MohammadAG: Is there a nightly for qt-mediaplayer which sits alongside the standard player? Sep 20 09:11:39 I really really wish the alarm on the n900 wouldn't unlock the screen Sep 20 09:17:30 Jaffa, haven't built nightlies in quite a while Sep 20 09:35:28 ruskie: +1 Sep 20 09:48:27 Anybody having an brand new idea about map presentation on a paper? Im struggling with the design work due tomorrow, it require a fresh design of a map... Sep 20 09:49:33 wouldn't someplace like #osm be a more ideal place for something like this? Sep 20 09:51:11 I was thinking about make a screenshot of 3D map application from N900 Sep 20 09:51:25 but I forgot which app have the 3d view... Sep 20 09:51:35 navit? Sep 20 09:51:51 yes Sep 20 09:51:58 though I don't really see how that is a fresh design Sep 20 09:52:01 ruskie: sorry, what is joomla. Sep 20 09:52:21 erm? Sep 20 09:52:29 ruskie: you are right, so that is why I ask help for a complete fresh new idea :D Sep 20 09:52:50 ruskie: you direct me to #osm == #joomla Sep 20 09:52:53 oh ups Sep 20 09:52:58 maybe wrong network Sep 20 09:53:23 so what is osm? Sep 20 09:53:28 anyway meant openstreetmap Sep 20 09:54:05 ok. that probably won't help :D but thanks anyway. Sep 20 09:57:47 I had an idea now, don't know if its new: I might zoom the map out and leave large space, and put images and info. over there. Sep 20 10:27:09 Hey guys Sep 20 10:27:36 trying a second time to find Sep 20 10:27:56 anyone here with a ffmpeg mp3 debian package? Sep 20 10:53:12 MohammadAG: I don't have my development desktop so doing so myself would be tricky :-( Sep 20 10:53:20 * Jaffa quite fancies the entertainment view Sep 20 10:53:37 MohammadAG: I suppose there's no reason the ent. view couldn't also be a standalone app.. Sep 20 16:31:22 e0x: use global firmware, some localized versions (namely US) are known to sometimes act up on flashing cmt Sep 20 16:33:53 this is nitpicking, but is there any way to remove the dropshadow from the text of contacts homescreen buttons? it is the only text on my homescreen that has it. Sep 20 16:57:03 psychologe, volume buttons in xchat Sep 20 16:57:20 You can use them to switch channels. Sep 20 16:57:52 If You got F7 and F8 mapped, You can also use them Sep 20 17:01:22 Estel_, oh,,,,,thank you .....how do you konw that Sep 20 17:04:08 Meanwhile: "In an interview with Forbes Magazine, Neal Stephenson says the 'Metaverse' he created in his seminal novel Snow Crash missed the point and that video games like World of Warcraft are the true future of cyberspace. Sep 20 17:15:41 psychologe, yea I use different approach - I got user list always enabled, but 'minimized' to edge of the screen. Sep 20 17:16:26 for me, the question is how to close channels, when channel list is show as tree. When tabs, You got button 'x' for it, but tree? Sep 20 17:18:11 ctrl+w Sep 20 17:24:26 DocScrutinizer: i use the global one Sep 20 17:24:32 DocScrutinizer: but thx anyway Sep 20 17:24:49 psychologe, thanks. Sep 20 17:25:20 e0x: anyway think twice before you go throwing your N900 in the washing machine ;-) Sep 20 17:25:48 it work now , i was thinking in make it my car computer Sep 20 17:25:56 psychologe: with shift + vol- (IIRC) you can even make xchat segfault ;-P Sep 20 17:25:59 for my new comming car Sep 20 17:26:37 psychologe: btw you can learn about keys in xchat settings -> keymappings Sep 20 17:27:15 err settings -> advanced -> kbd-shortcuts ? Sep 20 17:36:45 bye-bye lamers? Sep 20 17:37:31 ok, I know it was cheap sense of humour Sep 20 17:40:12 DocScrutinizer, can modify keycodes file ,,let N900 simulation ALT key. Sep 20 17:41:26 ~bbl Sep 20 17:41:26 somebody said bbl was be back later Sep 20 17:42:01 hehe... Sep 20 17:59:25 i want download also Sep 20 18:00:03 come on guys we're in #maemo someone gotta have an answer to such a clearly ON topic question :D Sep 20 18:00:09 thanks, DocScrutinizer. Sep 20 18:01:13 merlin1991, apt-get install *-doc? Sep 20 18:01:44 I'm searching for a bundle of the html docs Sep 20 18:03:28 psychologe, AFAIK 'blue arrow' (called wrong way a 'Fn') is exactly alt Gr, i.e. 'right alt'. What You mean by adding additional alt for N900 hardware keymap? Is there any use for it? Sep 20 18:09:01 Estel_, only some time, some program move from PC.. Sep 20 18:18:21 merlin1991: I think there's a pdf or sth similar, lemme try to find it for you Sep 20 18:20:23 merlin1991: please check for yourself: http://wiki.maemo.org/Documentation Sep 20 18:22:06 also http://www.developer.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/0ea5ec64-2d35-4363-94c0-dd2560c6524b/Get_started_with_Maemo_5.html Sep 20 18:22:25 DocScrutinizer: I know the online docs, I'm searching for a downloadable bundle of them Sep 20 18:22:49 so would you please bother looking at that last link I posted? Sep 20 18:23:08 ah yep didn't see that one :) Sep 20 18:23:19 thank doc Sep 20 18:23:24 s/thank/thanks/ Sep 20 18:23:25 merlin1991 meant: thanks doc Sep 20 18:25:37 which is more CPU efficient of AAC and MP3? Sep 20 18:25:50 Funnyface: mp4 Sep 20 18:25:51 Funnyface: mp3 Sep 20 18:26:31 hmm explains why this 40kbit AAC stream drains the battery about as fast as a 128kbit MP3 stream then Sep 20 18:27:59 because what s drain battery is the head phone :) Sep 20 18:28:00 merlin1991: http://www.developer.nokia.com/search/search.xhtml?view=ebs&s=fd&tl=0&ob=best&me=false&l=20&expandDoc=false&k=maemo&oldK=maemo Sep 20 18:28:04 Funnyface: its alot more complex than that, theres no generally correct answer to this Sep 20 19:00:24 khertan_n950: I think my battery drain is the GSM radio :P Sep 20 19:00:35 turning down the headphones only helps a little Sep 20 19:02:22 Headphone power consumption is neglectible compared to the rest of the N900 at reasonably sane volume Sep 20 19:02:46 at any volume Sep 20 19:14:22 yeah I was hoping that using the 40kbit AAC steam would make the radio save some power, but it seems that all the power goes into decoding the AAC stream Sep 20 19:14:56 I guess there isn't too much to save on a lower bandwidth stream anyway, since the radio is always active anyway Sep 20 19:15:29 could be nice to set up a middle box for the stream which sends down the stream in bursts instead of at a steady rate Sep 20 19:16:13 maxing out the bandwidth for a while, then taking a break to let the radio turn off, then send off another burst at full bandwidth Sep 20 19:18:13 Funnyface: probably not Sep 20 19:18:44 Funnyface: Unfortunately, on many mobiles, the cost is keeping the CPU alive to stream the data to the DAC Sep 20 19:19:08 And pulseaudio doesn't help much. Sep 20 19:19:35 I keep meaning to read the datasheet to see how 'off' the SoC can be, while still keeping the DMA core alive to throw data at the DAC Sep 20 19:19:50 But random IRL stuff keeps getting in the way. Sep 20 19:21:59 I've long wanted a music player that decoded the whole thing to RAM up-front and just let the device DMA it out as needed. Sep 20 19:23:02 derf: "" Sep 20 19:23:56 derf: That kinda relies on the SoC being able to cheaply keep the DMA unit up while not the CPU Sep 20 19:24:19 It's a pity the techology makes it difficult to integrate a meg or so of RAM on the DAC Sep 20 19:27:38 hello. i'm looking for a way to sync n900 via bluetooth or the cable with evolution, any ideas? i had some wierd bluetooth error that seems to be not resolved yet, so other suggestions most welcome :) Sep 20 19:32:36 * Cor-Ai sobes over his broken n900 Sep 20 19:32:53 Cor-Ai: ?How broken? Sep 20 19:33:33 SpeedEvil: the micro usb port has fallen of :/ Sep 20 19:33:50 Ah. Sep 20 19:33:55 sucks.. Sep 20 19:33:55 Where are you? Sep 20 19:34:00 swe Sep 20 19:34:06 At least in the EU, it's still in warranty. Sep 20 19:34:15 Though however now they're not replacing with n900s. Sep 20 19:34:22 I wonder if you could ow argue for a n9. Sep 20 19:34:41 dont want an n9 Sep 20 19:35:17 but i think i can reattach it :) Sep 20 19:37:50 * SpeedEvil forgets the link. Sep 20 19:37:57 Cor-Ai: you've done SMD soldering? Sep 20 19:38:06 DocScrutinizer - what's the reattach link? Sep 20 19:38:20 Cor-Ai: afaik it's better to get a new microusb port though Sep 20 19:38:27 Probably, yes. Sep 20 19:38:31 if the port fell off the contacts are probably fucked though Sep 20 19:38:37 so it's going to be a bit harder Sep 20 19:38:57 Look closley at the contacts. If the five at the back have no copper on them, it's probably reattachable without too much hastle. Sep 20 19:39:06 yeah, but its worth a shoot Sep 20 19:39:18 Of the ripped off socket that is Sep 20 19:40:46 ~usbrepair Sep 20 19:41:39 Anyway. Sep 20 19:42:15 :) Sep 20 19:42:22 ~usbfix Sep 20 19:42:23 somebody said usbfix was http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=75920 - and **NEVER** use epoxy (unless you want to seal your device for underwater) Sep 20 19:42:24 Clean off any ripped off pads with the iron. Scrape off some of the soldermask right next to the edges of the port. Solder the edges of the port to that. Sep 20 19:42:35 that, yes Sep 20 19:42:43 After soldering on the back pins Sep 20 19:43:46 yeah, its nt me that is going to do it, i got a friend that woorks with repering hardwear Sep 20 19:45:43 so print out the whole thread or send him the link above Sep 20 19:45:54 i will :) Sep 20 19:45:56 ty! Sep 20 20:05:29 and all cheers to dr_frost for this excellently edited thread Sep 20 20:27:04 hello, n900 here. I have a bluetooth headset and it works perfectly for making calls. But If I want to listen to music mostly the music comes from the speaker, eventhough the phone does show the headphone symbol. I have to reconnect the bluetooth device from 2 to 20 times (until I give up) before I hear the music over my set. How can I find out what is going on here? Sep 20 20:27:39 I have a ssh server running and I am familiar with the command line. Sep 20 20:29:25 I made a reflash and fresh install to check if any of the headphone daemons or whatever I installed over the time was making problems. Nothing, the same problem right from the start without anything extra installed. (But still normals calls just work fine) Sep 20 20:30:02 finally sent my n900 to my buddy to solder the port back on Sep 20 20:31:22 Good luck! Sep 20 20:32:47 thanks Sep 20 20:33:03 he said the pads are good so it shouldnt be too difficult Sep 20 20:33:34 but he has a doctorate in electronic engineering so i am sure he can do it way better than i ever could Sep 20 20:33:56 especially since he has million dollar equipment to do it with at his job :-) Sep 20 20:34:27 i would have tried it with a radio shack soldering iron Sep 20 20:34:33 It's fine with that Sep 20 20:34:35 And skill. Sep 20 20:34:45 i dont have the skill lol Sep 20 20:34:47 but Sep 20 20:35:00 he did show me which port i had to get from digikey Sep 20 20:35:12 i got 10 lol Sep 20 20:35:36 and i asked if he could take pics of the repair Sep 20 20:35:49 for the rest of us sorry bastards with broken ports Sep 20 22:04:54 ~seen nilsge Sep 20 22:04:59 nilsge was last seen on IRC in channel #maemo, 1h 35m 33s ago, saying: 'I made a reflash and fresh install to check if any of the headphone daemons or whatever I installed over the time was making problems. Nothing, the same problem right from the start without anything extra installed. (But still normals calls just work fine)'. Sep 20 22:06:26 Macer: I'm more interested in getting some 2 .. 3 of those ports Sep 20 22:07:22 hello there Sep 20 22:08:54 Could someone tell me, how can I play .vob (from DVDs) files in Maemo Media Player? When I try to do so, I got error "unsupported sound format". Ho ever, I think there is no problem with video itself - at least thumbnails are generated without problems. Sep 20 22:10:23 So, I see from within media player what I'm going to play, but when I try, I get sound format error. I know I can use mplayer (with any frontend for it), but it lacks hardware acceleration, so I got 100% CPU usage. Sound play smoothly, and video almos Sep 20 22:10:41 almost* - with little, very little effect of framedrop. Sep 20 22:10:58 I would love being able to play it hardware accelerated. Sep 20 22:11:05 Thanks in advance for answer Sep 20 22:11:42 transcode is the magic word I guess Sep 20 22:12:43 or maybe the latest version of codecs-dirty or what it's called has some support for that soundtrack format Sep 20 22:16:21 Where/how do i do escape key on n900? Sep 20 22:17:25 DocScrutinizer: i have some extra ones Sep 20 22:17:35 if he is able to get it working i can send you the spare ones if you need them Sep 20 22:19:21 let me print the receipt and i can tell you the part number he said to get.. he knows more about this than anybody.. he tried to guess at it by the pics i sent him which would probably be the best one to use. Sep 20 22:19:35 well not exactly "need" so far (crosses fingers) Sep 20 22:20:24 heh Sep 20 22:20:35 open it and enforce it :) otherwise it is just a matter of time Sep 20 22:20:44 and once it goes it is a pain to put back on Sep 20 22:21:04 the digikey part is H11574CT-ND Sep 20 22:21:09 I'm actually pondering or even scheduling that Sep 20 22:21:32 i just sent it to him today and it should get there thursday. hopefully he can do something with it Sep 20 22:21:44 he said the pads are in good shape so it shouldn't be too difficult Sep 20 22:21:57 but he can't really tell until he gets it Sep 20 22:22:02 he got the exact footprint from my bare board scnas? Sep 20 22:22:09 scans* Sep 20 22:22:22 i don't know tbh Sep 20 22:22:42 i just sent him a bunch of pics of the board... he may have found them or looked them up Sep 20 22:23:03 and i also sent him pics of the old and new ports... and the one i got from ebay Sep 20 22:23:17 the ebay one was actualy the wrong port.. talk about F------- for a rating :) Sep 20 22:23:33 damn false advertising chinese. :) Sep 20 22:23:48 i got 10 of them and sent him 7 just in case Sep 20 22:23:55 they're only $1.32 Sep 20 22:24:41 well.. digikey is funny. my bad.. they are actually 1.30200 :) i guess like gas prices? where they do the thousanth of a penny? Sep 20 22:25:16 how does that work? lol. Sep 20 22:25:42 thanks, DocScrutinizer, checking that. Sep 20 22:25:47 I had a hard time finding any exactlym5ching spare. Found a nice thru hole part though that probably would mod just great, with a pliers to bend the posts Sep 20 22:27:24 exactly matching* Sep 20 22:28:09 * DocScrutinizer51 yawns violently Sep 20 22:37:20 DocScrutinizer, I can't seems to find 'transcode', and obviously, google searching result in many irrelevant results Sep 20 22:37:42 also, I can't seem to find anything related to codes, dirty or whatsnot. Is it in repos? Sep 20 22:37:59 I've tried with all packages, not only user section, of course Sep 20 22:38:13 transcoding is a process, not n executable Sep 20 22:39:01 lol I see Sep 20 22:39:13 I know, I just thought someone named package like that Sep 20 22:39:21 ;P Sep 20 22:39:52 I think on regular linux there's a transcode package Sep 20 22:40:06 will do. I just hoped for hardware accelerated playback of DVDs via H-E-N and slim, portable USB DVD drive Sep 20 22:40:21 haha what Sep 20 22:40:27 use re-encode with handbrake Sep 20 22:40:33 to h264/aac Sep 20 22:40:46 you can find the video specs online i'm sure Sep 20 22:40:55 you will *not* power a usb dvd drive on the n900's usb port Sep 20 22:40:59 Estel_: ask MohammadAG - he did exactly that Sep 20 22:41:03 yes, I will Sep 20 22:41:04 i forgot what they were for an n900 but it plays video rather well Sep 20 22:41:05 already did Sep 20 22:41:24 DocScrutinizer, thanks. You mean he got accelerated playback? O_o Sep 20 22:41:34 Estel_: wtf Sep 20 22:41:40 did it work? :o Sep 20 22:41:52 kerio, why surprised? with Y-cable everything work Sep 20 22:41:54 a 32GB sd should be more than enough for quite a bit of video encoded for the n900 Sep 20 22:41:59 I'm not ure if he finally got accel. His youtube vid anyway isn't Sep 20 22:42:04 i said power Sep 20 22:42:07 not use Sep 20 22:42:20 kerio: the y cable is giving him power from somewhere else Sep 20 22:42:25 :) Sep 20 22:42:35 but that seems a little ghetto heh Sep 20 22:42:39 Macer, thank. You're right, I feel pretty comfortable with video codecs and Your suggestion seems reasonable. As I've said I hoped for DVD playback from discs :P Sep 20 22:42:45 unless you're like powering it with 5 or 6 n900s Sep 20 22:42:51 it would be awesome Sep 20 22:42:55 Estel_: it is best to just encode with handbrake Sep 20 22:42:57 Yea DocScrutinizer, I saw this video long time ago. Nice thing. Sep 20 22:43:12 yeah 200mA prolly a bit weak or a DVD drive Sep 20 22:43:14 playing actual dvd video doesn't sound pracrical Sep 20 22:43:22 or perhaps 4 n900s, each playing a fourth of the video Sep 20 22:43:27 kerio, You just need Y-cable Sep 20 22:43:32 in a way that gives you a bigger screen Sep 20 22:43:43 kerio: heh. he said he was using a y cable... so he is powering from elsewhere Sep 20 22:43:51 Estel_: yeah but where do you get the fucking power Sep 20 22:43:58 I got 2A 5V power supply, only *very* little bigger than Nokia N900 charger Sep 20 22:44:07 from fuckin wall socket? :P Sep 20 22:44:15 haha Sep 20 22:44:16 that's cheating ._. Sep 20 22:44:39 i would say lugging around a usb optial drive to play dvds is a bad idea all on its own :) Sep 20 22:44:50 hahaha somehow yes Sep 20 22:44:54 but when I travel Sep 20 22:45:08 I take my N900 with me, minoi USBkeyboard Sep 20 22:45:18 mini Keyboard, not mini-usb :) Sep 20 22:45:20 like i said.. .a 32GB SD and encoded video is a far better option Sep 20 22:45:29 bluetooth mouse Sep 20 22:45:36 pico projector Sep 20 22:45:38 who buys dvds anyway Sep 20 22:45:51 USB DVDmslim type Sep 20 22:45:58 you can adjust bitrate to make them smaller.. i mean it is a tiny screen anyways. you really won't notice the difference in res or bitrate unless you really drop it down Sep 20 22:46:04 and Its much lightweight and portable than carrying laptop Sep 20 22:46:13 but 200MB/hr should be very watchable Sep 20 22:46:25 Macer: tv out :) Sep 20 22:46:30 and it's modulable. Sep 20 22:46:31 indeed quality of a DVD is overkill for N900 video Sep 20 22:46:38 kerio: then up it to 350/hr ;) Sep 20 22:46:47 tv out got lower ress than N900 screen unfortunatelly. Sep 20 22:47:01 yeah. it isn't the best tv out on the planet for a phone Sep 20 22:47:06 I was up to say, that only thing I lack is hdmi out :P Sep 20 22:47:07 but it was a little ahead of its time ;) Sep 20 22:47:18 like the n95 Sep 20 22:47:30 tv out was a new concept for a phone.. there weren't too many devices pullling it off Sep 20 22:47:55 not to mention.... if you encode the video and put it on the sd instead.. you won't wall power Sep 20 22:47:57 as for dvd drive - i think rather of being able to access any DVD someone may throw at me Sep 20 22:48:03 n900 lasts quite a while fully charged and playing video Sep 20 22:48:03 be it data or video Sep 20 22:48:17 lol Estel_ Sep 20 22:48:31 Macer, true Sep 20 22:48:31 i removed my laptop's optical drive because i wasn't using it Sep 20 22:48:56 I'm kind of person that actually use optical drives quite a lot Sep 20 22:48:57 yeah.. i haven't used an optical drive in quite a while myself Sep 20 22:49:03 honestly how many TV with hdmi in are in your neighbourhood? may vary between 95% and next to 0 Sep 20 22:49:08 even my gf can play a video file on her stuff :) Sep 20 22:49:17 no offense to women or girlfriends.. but.... you know? Sep 20 22:49:38 to wean a woman off a disc is like telling her to never wash her hair again Sep 20 22:49:42 DocScrutinizer, places where I travel usually got tvs with hdmi in, but I'm rather thinking about projector Sep 20 22:50:01 Macer: you insulted at most like 3 people here, i bet Sep 20 22:50:20 kerio: haha.. well.. the ones here would know how to play a video file ;) Sep 20 22:50:21 I got acess to not-so- overpriced LED projectors, that weight 53 grams, fit in Your hand (smaller than palm, actually) Sep 20 22:50:41 and provide quite bright and 800x600 picture Sep 20 22:50:43 and have .5 lumen? Sep 20 22:50:51 .5 lumen hahahah Sep 20 22:50:55 up to 50 inches Sep 20 22:51:02 actually, about 15 :P Sep 20 22:51:06 oi Sep 20 22:51:23 advertised 50:P real ~15 Sep 20 22:51:28 im waiting for laser projectors to become affordable, without having read what you guys talk about Sep 20 22:51:54 + I can connect hdmi or s-video or composite Sep 20 22:52:06 as You can imagine, composite is worst option :P Sep 20 22:52:21 in terms of quality of image Sep 20 22:52:46 anyway, for my own videos I'll stick with re-encoding Sep 20 22:52:52 i just hope i get my n900 back and it works Sep 20 22:52:59 this g2 is driving me crazy Sep 20 22:53:05 htc makes some cheaply made phones Sep 20 22:53:14 BTW, DocScrutinizer and others, what about that codes-dirty? where one can find it? Sep 20 22:53:39 err, wait minute Sep 20 22:54:41 thanks in advance Sep 20 22:54:45 btw, as for powering Sep 20 22:55:19 If I would be more freaky-geeky than I am, I would made myself nice bracelet with 5v output Sep 20 22:55:47 buying something like christgift's li-ions, You can get very high capacity for cheap Sep 20 22:56:19 + little, very little pcb with high efficiency 5v transformation Sep 20 22:56:32 and You can Y-cable without a wall socket :P Sep 20 22:57:30 Estel_: I think I mixed things up a bit, anyway http://maemo.org/packages/view/pulseaudio-module-extra/ Sep 20 22:57:34 no problem to get 10Ah of stored power @ 5V in nice, not-so-heavy bracelet. On belt, You can get 30Ah with ease Sep 20 22:57:41 ok, thanks, will check Sep 20 22:58:19 I would never buy commercial power bracelets oe belts, doing it Yourself is much more fun and 3-4 capacity gain for same price. Sep 20 22:59:03 Estel_: http://maemo.org/packages/view/gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-extra/ Sep 20 22:59:18 thanks Sep 20 23:01:41 http://maemo.org/packages/view/gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly/ Sep 20 23:02:07 bad ugly dirty whocares Sep 20 23:02:46 http://maemo.org/packages/search/?org_maemo_packages_search[1][property]=name&org_maemo_packages_search[1][constraint]=LIKE&org_maemo_packages_search[1][value]=gstream&org_maemo_packages_search[2][property]=title&org_maemo_packages_search[2][constraint]=LIKE&org_maemo_packages_search[2][value]=same Sep 20 23:04:04 this URL *begs* for sme SQL injection exploit ;-P Sep 20 23:05:49 lol Sep 20 23:06:09 DocScrutinizer, erm, ugly set is more bleeding-edge than bad? Sep 20 23:06:21 nfc Sep 20 23:06:27 it seems that ugly replace bad (dependencies) Sep 20 23:07:36 and what about plugins-good-extra? Sep 20 23:07:47 http://maemo.org/packages/view/decoders-support/ Sep 20 23:07:56 I feel a little lost in this good extra bad good ugly world Sep 20 23:08:18 what the heck? Sep 20 23:08:33 http://maemo.org/packages/view/ac3-support/ Sep 20 23:12:01 Estel_: tell me if any of those ~60+ packages fixed your problem ;-D Sep 20 23:12:29 thanks DocScrutinizer, it seems I already got plugins-bad and decoder-support Sep 20 23:12:37 will try with ugly and ac3 Sep 20 23:12:59 It seems decoders-support claims to include ac3 Sep 20 23:13:37 Uses GStreamer decoders and tracker mimetype registering tool Sep 20 23:13:39 * AC-3 audio in video files support Sep 20 23:14:01 yea Sep 20 23:14:30 which of course doesn't preclude that ac3-support works better than decoder-support on ac3 Sep 20 23:14:56 a nightmare, honestly Sep 20 23:15:01 I wonder what "multiverse" version is Sep 20 23:15:11 (of plugins-bad) Sep 20 23:15:14 yea :P Sep 20 23:15:42 and I can't seem to find ac3-support package via fapman, neither in installed or available Sep 20 23:15:54 will try via package interface Sep 20 23:16:27 also, ugly replace bad, but bad doesn't replace ugly, so I tyink ugly is 'better' than bad:P Sep 20 23:18:44 decoders support is maintained by same person as ac3 support, and decoder support replaces ac3 support Sep 20 23:19:00 so I think it's best to keep it. Sep 20 23:19:05 yeah, it's 1 month later Sep 20 23:19:37 you'd think it's just a metapkg to include the other pkgs Sep 20 23:22:22 damn, ugly result in 'error code 1' while in dpkg -i state Sep 20 23:22:34 and some pipeline errors too Sep 20 23:23:23 what I expected, it's ugly. package description could be better, 'might pose distribution problems' may mean everything Sep 20 23:23:30 I thought about copyright :P Sep 20 23:25:43 yep Sep 20 23:31:40 DocScrutinizer: you're going to love this Sep 20 23:31:45 DocScrutinizer: http://forum.meego.com/showpost.php?p=31769&postcount=1 Sep 20 23:32:00 well, I've should posted in #harmattan, but still, I invite you to read. Sep 20 23:33:52 lol, I don't want to know what else You guys did to infobot Sep 20 23:34:36 damn, nothing seems to fix this audio coodec problem (ended up installing plugins-good-extra) Sep 20 23:34:59 I wonder why mplayer play this mpeg without problem, and Maemo with it's gstreamer can't Sep 20 23:35:29 I know totem player in ED can be made to use HA, maybe that will work... Gonna try, someday :P Sep 20 23:35:40 * wip_archl RIP lcuk... Sep 20 23:36:03 * wip_archl will carry on his work... Sep 20 23:36:16 did lcuk die? Sep 20 23:43:51 even not knowing lcuk, it was thrilling to be here Sep 20 23:44:11 talking, with a little hope that it's hoax Sep 20 23:44:34 and then, Tracey used lcuk "ghost" irc account logged to tell us that it is not joke Sep 20 23:44:53 one sentence only, but earthquake for #maemo Sep 20 23:45:19 yeah that's horrible. :( Sep 20 23:45:32 really, I won't forget that, can recall what She said with accuracy to single word and punctation :( Sep 20 23:45:39 never met him in person but he was a good guy. Sep 20 23:45:59 damn Sep 20 23:48:06 javispedro: I well noticed you didn't even start to mention a word about *how* you achieved set point in round two ;-D Sep 20 23:48:30 and right so Sep 21 00:59:58 holy shit. can't believe lcuk is gone. that's messed up Sep 21 01:03:18 Very.
