Oct 09 01:42:52 in hertz Oct 09 01:54:14 Hey - I have an n900 with a freshly flashed maemo 5 on it and a dead digitizer. The rest of the phone works fine though as far as I know, and I'd like to make use of it. unfortunately as it stands, it boots up and asks me to input the time before doing anything else, which I can't do because it expects me to use the touchscreen. has anybody had any luck tweaking the software without being able to do anything on the phone itself? Oct 09 01:55:34 Just buy a digitizer off Ebay Oct 09 01:55:39 They're cheap Oct 09 01:57:47 robbiethe1st: I may do that eventually, but I barely actually need the digitizer once I've got a shell open or something. And I learned the hard way when I bought the phone that high positive seller ratings on ebay are meaningless. Oct 09 01:58:05 If I can figure out how to modify the rootfs though, I'll be fine. Oct 09 01:58:24 my hope is I can just reflash it after putting something in /etc/rc.local or somesuch. Oct 09 01:58:25 If you've got backupmenu... Oct 09 01:58:34 what is backupmenu? Oct 09 01:58:38 You need a rootfs image with backupmenu Oct 09 01:59:04 okay... what is backupmenu? Oct 09 01:59:07 check the topic; basically a pre-boot application for your phone which allows USB access to the home partition, and backup/restore of filesystem images Oct 09 01:59:11 google for it Oct 09 01:59:24 ah, cool, sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Oct 09 02:00:17 There's a reason I wrote it. Because it's so darn useful, and there's nothing else like it for the N900 Oct 09 02:00:48 yeah, looks like it's exactly what I need. thanks a bunch **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Oct 09 02:59:59 2012
