**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue May 13 02:59:59 2014 May 13 04:06:41 Just got my N900! I'm trying to figure out the local IP address (so I can ssh in), and netstat -t is giving me an error - "no kernel support for AF INET6 (tcp)" - is there an easy fix for this? I have never installed/upgraded a kernel let alone on a mobile device. Is there another way of getting the local IP address? May 13 04:07:21 I think there is a built-in way to see the local ip May 13 04:07:28 can't remember exactly May 13 04:07:39 check in the settings stuff for networking May 13 04:09:24 also I think the mad developer app shows the ip and a password to ssh as developer account https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZNTDYvCvtE May 13 04:10:21 bleb: ifconfig doesn't work? May 13 04:10:53 you might need to run it as /sbin/ifconfig May 13 04:11:52 ah /sbin/ifconfig has it May 13 04:20:22 I'm in! May 13 04:20:28 thanks person May 13 04:20:45 no problemo May 13 10:04:15 why do the blue keys on a n900 show different characters in the SMS app? May 13 10:04:42 they show the next character along May 13 10:05:16 ie. ? works if i press the the blue key and the up arrow May 13 12:22:11 moin :) May 13 14:06:49 timeless: ping May 13 14:06:56 timeless: mxr been yours? May 13 14:07:18 it's down :ยด( May 13 14:10:36 wizbit: huh? May 13 14:14:49 DocScrutinizer05: hi dude May 13 14:15:19 DocScrutinizer05: they keymap on the SMS app uses incorrect blue characters, ie, stuff like: !? etc May 13 14:15:56 never heard of this May 13 14:16:40 and I for the life of mine couldn't think how this could happen. i mean, the input device stays the same since sms is an X11 app as well May 13 14:16:45 aiui May 13 14:42:48 DocScrutinizer05: i think that's dns May 13 14:43:01 ooh May 13 14:43:12 that would mean it's easy to 'fix'? May 13 14:43:19 do you have an IP? May 13 14:43:46 sure, Nokia for sure messed up or let bitrot the mxr.maemo.org DNS May 13 14:43:48 dig timeless.justdave.net May 13 14:44:09 if you add its ip address as mxr.maemo.org, it will serve the correct content May 13 14:44:47 i don't have the energy to chase down whomever owns the nokia side May 13 14:44:50 hmm http://timeless.justdave.net/mxr-test/ May 13 14:45:03 yeah, that will work too, but it isn't technically the same frontend May 13 14:45:04 ooh, vhost May 13 14:45:38 the mxr scripts decide for themselves which content to serve May 13 14:45:44 which isn't quite a traditional vhost May 13 14:45:45  May 13 14:46:03 anyway, how should we proceed? May 13 14:46:30 I'd like to get a backup or mirror or hot-standby or whatever on maemo's infra May 13 14:46:50 and of course we need to solve the DNS issue May 13 14:46:55 *somehow* May 13 14:47:52 figure out who manages the dns May 13 14:48:02 timeless: I gather that's your box where mxr is running (well, obviously it is). May 13 14:48:03 if they delegate to dreamhost, we can stop playing this game May 13 14:48:19 Nokia dnsmaster :-/ May 13 14:48:34 technically it's justdave's box.. but roughly i have sufficient access and am allowed to do stuff w/ it May 13 14:48:45 yeah, as i said, i'm not chasing nokia May 13 14:48:51 we can't manage any of the *.maemo.org domains May 13 14:49:20 could we do a full rsync to maemo.org infra? May 13 14:49:33 it could be arranged, yeah May 13 14:49:35 * timeless shrugs May 13 14:49:46 i'd have to pull out ssh keys from somewhere :) May 13 14:49:52 our sysops will negotiate that with you May 13 14:50:03 alright May 13 14:50:10 warfare: ^^^^ May 13 14:50:12 what they could do instead is just run a proxy May 13 14:50:24 it'd be a pretty simple nginx proxy :) May 13 14:50:38 great idea too, for the service. Not though for the backup (mxr scripts) May 13 14:51:00 have it just request the same thing from w/ host: mxr.maemo.org :) May 13 14:51:12  May 13 14:51:14 those are technically in vcs and could be cloned May 13 14:51:31 * DocScrutinizer05 wonders why xes not around May 13 14:51:36 iirc hg clone http://timeless.justdave.net/mxr-test/ should work May 13 14:51:56 hrm, nope :) May 13 14:52:00 * timeless wonders where it's hiding May 13 14:52:38 well, it's theoretically there, i just don't quite remember how to convince it to come out :) May 13 14:53:04 xes is "online" but can't join this chan May 13 14:53:12 he's reading though May 13 14:53:32 try hg clone http://timeless.justdave.net/mxr-test/source/ May 13 14:53:39 yeah, that'll work :) May 13 14:53:56 timeless: (for the background: warfare and xes are our sysops) May 13 14:54:00 * timeless nods May 13 14:54:26 anyway, that clone should succeed (eventually) May 13 14:54:40 there should be a readme and some files which sort of explain how things work May 13 14:56:01 great! I hope xes will /query you and negotiate all remaining details May 13 14:56:25 please the two of you stay in touch, it would be a pity to lose mxr May 13 14:59:40 * timeless ponders May 13 15:00:34 DocScrutinizer05: irrelevant, qt apps are also x11 apps but the keyboard layout is fucked regardless May 13 15:00:42 re:kbd layouts May 13 15:01:25 kerio: I know May 13 15:01:39 but iirc sms/messaging isn't a qt app May 13 15:01:50 yeah, it's... gtk+gecko? May 13 15:01:59  prolly May 13 15:04:45 xes, timeless: thanks guys! May 13 15:37:51 hello May 13 15:44:32 vi__: hi!!! May 13 15:44:40 long time no see May 13 15:45:05 yeah, busy life kills my fun time now. May 13 15:45:12 :( May 13 15:45:39 what is better a job or haxxing all day? May 13 15:46:15 you might know... May 13 15:46:18 a balance in between :) May 13 15:46:35 a job that involves haxxing all day? May 13 15:46:49 though, lately I fail to acheve it May 13 15:46:52 yeah May 13 15:47:03 esp if it is ell-paid ;) May 13 15:47:06 *well May 13 15:47:35 Do you know if there was any program for n900 for gathering data for opencellid database? May 13 15:48:16 no idea, sorry May 13 15:48:48 I am setting up 2 of my n900. One is a home server, running stuff from debian chroot. May 13 15:49:03 the other is a carputer. May 13 15:51:05 I have managed to get tunneling over dns to work to the n900. May 13 15:51:15 iodine works well on n900 :) May 13 15:51:24 which is nice. May 13 15:51:30 definitely May 13 15:51:46 i am using the n900 as the iodined May 13 15:52:03 from squeezy chroot. May 13 16:01:51 timeless: how comes mxr-maemo-org-dns-0.1/DEBIAN/postinst has the right IP since 2008 and the DNS managed by Nokia points to a bogus IP? May 13 16:02:20 heh May 13 16:02:40 2008 seems a bit early May 13 16:02:56 but ... May 13 16:03:27 no, it isn't the right ip May 13 16:03:33 the right ip is 66.33.208.86 May 13 16:03:41 that has 66.33.212.254 May 13 16:04:55 roughly the first two bits being constant are because it has always lived in dreamhost May 13 16:06:55 on the bright side, it's easy to fix that file to the current ip address :) May 13 16:07:08 oooh May 13 16:07:38 you could even have the thing automatically pick the value from timeless.justdave.net :) May 13 16:11:46 sure, I know May 13 16:12:00 we rather fix that on a "global" level ;-) **** ENDING LOGGING AT Wed May 14 02:59:59 2014
