Dec 14 08:03:13 hey.. i was going through a tutorial to spli screen using wmctrl. i tried that in n900. it didnot work why ?? Dec 14 10:10:42 Hello. Whether the server supports rsync protocol? Dec 14 10:11:19 repository.maemo.org server i mean/ Dec 14 11:22:53 so... how do i make xchat use tls Dec 14 11:41:43 giff hexchat Dec 14 22:53:24 Okay, the question is long and convoluted... A Firefox-OS phone is Android-based, but does not have an apt-get to install dosfstools, so it cannot check its own filesystem, be it internal emmc or external SD card. Hence, I put SD card out of it and into N900, fsck'ed it, and since it seemed to be nice, tried to copy the files to N900's MyDocs. Dec 14 22:56:38 Keyword: tried. When you have 1.6GB and low battery, file-copy gets interrupted. Then, I try to do gdiff of copy-place and SD-card, and get that a file on N900's MyDocs has "Input/Output error". Ok, fsck-avl'ed MyDocs (or, at least, significant part of it). Do not know how to mount it back (umount'ed before fsck'ing), so reboot. gdiff still gives "Input/Output error", on same one single file. Dec 14 22:57:02 How do I get fsck to check this one file? fsck'ing whole MyDocs takes too long. Dec 14 23:04:00 Oh, and another irritation with fsck: it says that file size is large, cluster size is 0, hence, file is truncated to 0. Does it mean that it erases the files forever? Dec 14 23:41:07 Oksana: you're aware Android doesn't normally have apt, right? Dec 14 23:42:07 Ok, how do you get apt onto Android then, and is it possible to do it for Firefox OS? Dec 14 23:42:39 I'm not aware of any way to get apt onto Android.. Dec 14 23:48:02 this might sound like a silly question, but .... why dont you just plug the sdcard in a card reader and on your computer ? Dec 14 23:52:30 Get a card reader, first. Second, would it be better to fsck the SD card in a Linux computer or a Windows computer - since I have choice? Currently, I am using N900 as Linux computer with built-in SD card reader. Dec 14 23:53:08 I'd personally do it from a linux system Dec 14 23:54:38 So, I should get an SD card reader, and wait a few days for it to arrive? ;-) Will try to. What's the best way to mount back MyDocs after an umount-fsck? The only way I know right now is reboot. Dec 14 23:55:02 at least you wont have to worry about battery Dec 14 23:55:42 and fight with n900 unresponsive IOs Dec 14 23:56:41 N900 is actually quite good. Though, as stress relief, I occasionally gestured in the air that I am chopping it into pieces. Dec 14 23:57:02 hmm ? Dec 14 23:58:25 Point-me: the hildon-desktop rotational bug which (if you hold the phone incorrectly during start-up) leads to hildon-desktop displayed as small, with black margins around it. Dec 14 23:58:57 I think I've never seen that bug Dec 14 23:59:14 * kolp has Dec 14 23:59:23 (but I'm not sure I've ever hold it in portrait while booting) Dec 15 00:00:48 It's irritating, and it should be the easier bug to fix. When compared to launcher open-closed bug (somehow related to catorise[plus]) which causes hildon to be slow. Dec 15 00:02:29 Ok, so going into reboot to get MyDocs mounted back. Dec 15 00:14:21 I just rebotted in portrait though, and the desktop showed up with correct dimensions, though locked to portrait o.O Dec 15 00:14:29 *rebooted... Dec 15 00:34:53 Not sure about specific conditions. Maybe, you need to have in landscape in early-boot, in portrait in middle-boot, and in landscape in late-boot? ;-) Ok, I found a funny way to spend a bus travel - figuring out precisely when the bug happens :-) **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Dec 15 02:59:59 2014
