**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Dec 02 03:00:01 2016 Dec 02 03:22:14 Mornin'. I havfe weird problem with my n900. Even if i open kbrd device is not locked to "widescreen" and screen rotates. Also some programs behave like kbrd is not slide out. How ever kbrd is still recognized. Device unlocks when i slide it out. Dec 02 03:22:25 have* Dec 02 03:49:26 i can name atleast two programs so far. Opera looks like it might pop up vkbrd, but doesn't and sticky notes pop's vkbrd and with many tries accepts hwkbrd. Dec 02 03:50:42 but strangest thing is that screen rotation. It never locks to widescreen mode, but rotates when i tilt the device nevertheless kbrd is slide out or not. Dec 02 03:53:09 mce config or version Dec 02 03:53:30 or hildon desktop config Dec 02 03:57:53 didn't touch those, but how to check? Dec 02 03:58:28 i have cssu-testing. Haven't used apt nor hildon app manager in months Dec 02 04:00:10 i _think_ it started yesterday after opera hang for awhile. Device was unresponsive like five minutes. And when it revived it didn't lit back light before i changed brightness settings from brightness applet Dec 02 04:00:57 could there be some process which died in the process and didn't respawn cleanly? Dec 02 16:21:39 yeah Dec 02 16:21:49 not 100% sure though Dec 02 16:22:10 but you can always export DISPLAY and start whatever you want from the shell Dec 02 16:22:31 freemangordon: cant it suck the window names from DE ? Dec 02 16:22:57 KotCzarny: from DE? it *IS* DE Dec 02 16:23:02 :) Dec 02 16:23:05 yeah Dec 02 16:23:22 i meant from the DE standard way of acquiring window/app list Dec 02 16:23:40 MoeIcenowy: do you use Zephyr to run h-d on? Dec 02 16:23:59 KotCzarny: don;t know what is the standard way :) Dec 02 16:24:21 s?Zephir/Xephyr Dec 02 16:24:24 fmg: when app creates x11 window it usually calls it with some params/env settings Dec 02 16:24:35 yevery day seems to be typo day lately Dec 02 16:24:36 freemangordon: yes Xephyr. Dec 02 16:24:56 and my mouse cursor seems to be eaten by h-d ;-) Dec 02 16:25:09 KotCzarny: and? do you mean are application titles visible in task navigator? Dec 02 16:25:31 or in status bar? Dec 02 16:25:36 check: xwininfo -tree -root Dec 02 16:25:42 not now Dec 02 16:26:01 but it has window manager, so I guess it does all the stuff needed Dec 02 16:26:14 and I think I need a gtk+3 plugin... Dec 02 16:26:16 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/252906/how-to-get-the-list-of-open-windows-from-xserver Dec 02 16:26:36 GNOME applications is shown very ridiculously under hildon... Dec 02 16:27:03 KotCzarny: ah, I think I get it now - yes, it takes ownership on all applications started so far on that xserver Dec 02 16:27:12 *of Dec 02 16:27:15 It try to use the GNOME header bar to replace the hildon titlebar Dec 02 16:27:26 you can't, afaik Dec 02 16:27:52 title bar is build-in in h-d Dec 02 16:28:52 http://img.vim-cn.com/a8/4e4448562a41bf8f77d16148033f57ea25835d.png this picture shows the situation Dec 02 16:29:27 cool :) Dec 02 16:29:52 and how to deal with the Gtk menu bar is also a problem... Dec 02 16:30:46 in fact, not only GNOME apps but all applications who want to draw its own titlebar may face the titlebar problem... Dec 02 16:31:19 MoeIcenowy: I think is what you're trying to do is similar to forcing unity to use xfce's panel Dec 02 16:31:53 maybe I should say force xfce to use unity's panel ;-) Dec 02 16:32:10 MoeIcenowy: you can just grab a random application and expect it to behave correctly under hildon Dec 02 16:32:14 yeah Dec 02 16:32:29 yes apps without headerbar works fine Dec 02 16:32:37 it needs to be "hildonized" Dec 02 16:32:55 there is a whole big doc on hildon UI Dec 02 16:33:12 yes... Dec 02 16:33:51 I think we should make some general toolkit automatically hildonized Dec 02 16:33:59 like maemo-gtk did on real Maemo Dec 02 16:34:02 no way IMO Dec 02 16:34:16 we can use gtk modules to inject into Gtk+ Dec 02 16:34:22 hmm, isnt h-d taking whole top row? Dec 02 16:34:28 unless you find 5 more guys Dec 02 16:34:44 last time i remember available area isnt from the top of lcd, but under status bar Dec 02 16:34:52 depends if the application is fullscreen or not Dec 02 16:35:11 and WMs have a way to enforce apps to specific allowable size Dec 02 16:35:24 in fullscreen it takes, well, the full screen area :) Dec 02 16:36:11 ie. see fluxbox' option 'maximizeover' Dec 02 16:36:32 have you used original matchbox? Dec 02 16:36:49 I mean the matchbox that is now managed on yocto Dec 02 16:38:00 no Dec 02 16:38:23 do you thinks it is better to use it than the one in maemo? Dec 02 16:39:22 nope Dec 02 16:39:30 it's very simple Dec 02 16:39:35 or I should say "too simple" Dec 02 16:49:10 oh I forgot to mention that when building on newest Gtk+ and Clutter, I met lots of deprecation Werrors Dec 02 16:49:51 yeah Dec 02 16:50:14 but anyway we won;t use that code Dec 02 16:50:18 so that I had to sed all configure.ac and delete -Werror Dec 02 16:50:24 you will re-port it, right? Dec 02 16:51:27 yes Dec 02 20:17:33 MoeIcenowy: what did you mean by "we can use gtk modules to inject into Gtk+"? Dec 02 20:22:55 hmm, I think I got it Dec 02 21:51:44 freemangordon: yes Dec 02 21:58:25 MoeIcenowy: do you have experience with that? Dec 02 21:59:04 as there is almost no info over the net on what is the correct way of using stuff in gtk_module_init() Dec 02 23:13:23 freemangordon: no experience Dec 02 23:13:36 but I know at least some project uses the modules to do hacks Dec 02 23:15:28 for example, the topmenu-gtk project extracts the menubar of Gtk+ 3 programs as a global menu (like macOS) Dec 03 02:06:19 freemangordon: do you know why the current h-d very easily SIGSEGV? **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Dec 03 03:00:00 2016
