**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri May 04 03:00:04 2018 May 04 06:38:13 Apparently MobyGames has Maemo as a platform and MobyGames still uses only HTTP, not HTTPS. Coincidence? ;-) May 04 06:47:34 Today (Thursday) I learned that apparently recent versions of Photoshop reject images that they believe are a banknote and I am told that the multi-function printer we have at work refuses to save an image it has scanned if it believes that the image is a business cheque. May 04 06:50:49 Apparently the GIMP project has decided to silently abandon users of 32-bit Windows by releasing GIMP 2.10 for Windows only for x86-64, not for x86-32. May 04 07:00:58 Apparently the “Universal Windows Platform” is not universal because Windows 10 IoT Enterprise edition excludes support for the Windows Store and the UWP (?). Is there a UWP application I can try that can be installed without using the Windows Store and without having Visual Studio installled? May 04 08:18:48 Question : is Maemo Leste better equipped than Maemo Fremantle to deal with 500MB eventlogger's el-v1.db ? I have 67MB database on this device, but I plan to eventually merge it with databases of the other two devices. May 04 08:22:01 Trying out Echonest aka Eyrie. So far, haven't had a recognition. But then, the noise is insane, separating music from ambient noise is not easy. May 04 10:27:22 brolin_empey: i rememebre when gimp did'nt provide windows binaries at all directly =) May 04 10:27:36 brolin_empey: gtk and gimp-win to install separately etc. ;p May 04 11:57:49 Oksana: (hell, why those nick changes all the time?) a 500MB el-v1.db won't work no matter which version or revision of maemo or whatever. It's a database that tends to use as much RAM as the file size, if only for caching the file. then the db engine needs to read across all the file to manage indexes. And honestly a 500MB of recorded chats and evens sound pretty much completely pointless since nobody can read all that. How about May 04 11:57:50 exporting it to CSV or XML or whatever, and using it woth more lightweight tools like grep, less, etc May 04 11:59:12 with* May 04 12:01:06 a oversized el-v1.db is known to massively slow down the whole maemo system, to a point where it comes to a grinding halt or at very least completely unusuable due to response times in the dozens of seconds May 04 12:01:34 ~listvalues el-v1 May 04 12:01:38 Factoid search of 'el-v1' by value returned no results. May 04 12:13:19 anyway I'd strongly recommend to keep el-v1.db < 1MB May 04 12:13:46 ~listkeys el-v1 May 04 12:13:48 Factoid search of 'el-v1' by key returned no results. May 04 12:14:05 ~listkeys eventsdb May 04 12:14:07 Factoid search of 'eventsdb' by key returned no results. May 04 12:14:22 ~listvalues eventsdb May 04 12:14:23 Factoid search of 'eventsdb' by value returned no results. May 04 12:14:30 strange May 04 12:19:50 ~#maemo el-v1.db is Don't let the events db (msgs, call histore etc pp) grow too large as it brings the system to a grinding halt from swap hell. Strongly recommended: frequent /etc/osso-cud-scripts/rtcom-eventlogger-clean.sh May 04 12:19:50 DocScrutinizer05: okay May 04 12:47:53 lots of interesting little scripts there in /etc/osso-cud-scripts/ (cud = clean up device, I guess) May 04 12:48:35 a `/etc/osso-cud-scripts/*` will prolly do a hell of a job to very simply reset your device to factory defaults May 04 12:50:11 don't ask me why this tuff is in /etc, according to FHS it prolly should be in /usr/local/bin or somesuch May 04 12:50:19 stuff* May 04 12:50:31 ~fhs May 04 12:50:31 i guess fhs is the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard and is at http://www.pathname.com/fhs/, or included in the debian-policy package May 04 12:53:54 accordingly renamed so you could invoke all of them with a single `/usr/local/bin/osso-cud-*`, I don't see why they had to live in etc/ May 04 13:16:44 Oksana @/ Wikiwide - Leste is not even at the point where it has phone or conversations application (and therefore el-v1.db) May 04 13:38:23 ~#maemo eventsdb is see #maemo el-v1.db May 04 13:38:23 DocScrutinizer05: okay May 04 13:38:38 ~eventsdb May 04 13:38:39 hmm... #maemo el-v1.db is Don't let the events db (msgs, call histore etc pp) grow too large as it brings the system to a grinding halt from swap hell.
