This computer has the Intel Q45 graphics and memory controller, which supports both DDR2 and DDR3 but this motherboard uses only DDR2.  The Hynix 4-GiB DDR2 DIMMs I bought this summer (summer in Canada) that work for a total of 16 GiB with the Asus P5E-VM DO motherboard
Nov 16 00:25:09 <brolin_empey>  with Q35 only work for 8 GiB total in the OptiPlex 960.  If I install all four in the OptiPlex 960 then the computer does not boot.  Q35 supports only DDR2, not DDR3.
Nov 16 00:39:31 <brolin_empey> I will probably buy an HTC myTouch 4G Slide, which has an integrated hardware keyboard and easily removable battery and can unofficially run up to at least Android OS 4.4, from a friend if they can find theirs.
