**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Jul 21 02:59:57 2019 Jul 21 04:14:25 brolin_empey: afaik the pcmcia/cardbus stuff is just for the hotplugging support Jul 21 04:24:53 buZz: OK, that is what I thought. Jul 21 14:06:47 FatPhil: uploaded an to extras-devel /usr/games/an but could take 2 hours to import the package... Jul 21 14:07:34 I think extras are still stuck Jul 21 14:08:04 well, it does build packages, but won't import them to repositories Jul 21 14:08:12 I think it is because zile has no description so a parsing error you need to edit the control file Jul 21 14:08:36 An has no description either Jul 21 14:08:46 iirc you don't get any description at this stage Jul 21 14:09:02 it should have but atm it is ot parsed Jul 21 14:09:12 (oh and, controle file for zile comes from debian) Jul 21 14:09:18 same with zile I think :) Jul 21 14:09:28 ok I see Jul 21 14:10:17 http://muarf.org/~bencoh/maemo/zile_2.3.21-3_armel.deb Jul 21 14:28:23 xes: can you have a look again why the auto builded packages get not imported to the repo please Jul 21 14:34:07 now I see that the an package has already packages depending on this package which is impossible because before it doesn't exist Jul 21 16:50:26 >> well, it does build packages, but won't import them to repositories<< FSCK! ask freemangordon Jul 21 18:26:26 Hi Jul 21 18:26:38 Maemo4 still alive and kicking? Jul 21 18:26:49 I see the repo is still working. I wanted to use it for carman to check a check engine light Jul 21 18:27:21 Repo seems seriously slow though. Jul 21 18:30:38 no idea on maemo4 but repos will still be up. use pyOBD myself on m5 Jul 21 18:39:11 sixwheeledbeast: you use pyobd regularly? Jul 21 18:45:37 every so often. Jul 21 18:46:29 I do most simple code checks and reset with it for most of my friends Jul 21 18:46:42 :-) Jul 21 18:47:19 nice. i find it locks up a lot though, especially when looking at live sensor data. Jul 21 18:48:04 Most places charge a stupid amount of money just to read a code. I can understand as the pro garage equipment costs a lot. Jul 21 18:48:12 although it's also possible i use crappy readers Jul 21 18:50:08 Live data is a bit weak but I don't expect a cheap BT OBD reader to be perfect. IMO OBD is an abused connector anyway, it should be for diagnostics only but it's become a way of programming ECU's and also other abuses Jul 22 00:05:56 It’s fine. I just needed typical user end OBD2 stuff Jul 22 00:06:14 I already had the BT OBD2 reader Jul 22 00:06:27 It used to work with carman but i doubt that has been updated in years ... i just got some mac software that works with it and called it a day Jul 22 00:06:37 Would be nice to use something smaller than my MacBook tho.. i just don’t feel like buying a new one Jul 22 00:20:29 bencoh: halftux: there was still one stale pid blocking repo sync. Now it is working again: http://maemo.org/packages/package_instance/view/fremantle_extras-devel_free_armel/an/1.2-1maemo1/ Jul 22 02:17:43 So is diablo EOL? Jul 22 02:18:47 What has become of Maemo lately? Any good news? Jul 22 02:19:03 I vaguely remember there being a “new” device which required you sent in your old N900 to have the board swapped Jul 22 02:21:53 jrg: If you have a mobile computer running Android then you can use Torque or AndrOBD. Jul 22 02:22:48 brolin_empey: would be nice to hard wire a pi / touchscreen into the car for those things heh Jul 22 02:23:08 I could always just get a newer reader and use my iphone Jul 22 02:23:35 Just figured the N810 could be put to some use for that. Doesn’t seem so though. Carman probably will never be updated. Jul 22 02:24:34 You are probably thinking of the Neo900, which is basically a dead project by now. The Maemo Leste project is active; you may be able to use Maemo Leste on the upcoming PinePhone. Jul 22 02:27:30 I think it’s too late for me. Jul 22 02:27:42 I’m already stuck in the apple ecosystem. I do miss my N900 though. Jul 22 02:29:12 You need a Bluetooth or Wireless LAN↔OBD adapter with a special part required by Apple to use such an adapter with Apple iOS. Most of the adapters do not have this part because it increases the cost and is only required by Apple. I know this because my uncle uses an iPhone and was unable to use the adapter that works with Android. Jul 22 02:31:54 Yeah. They are far more expensive. Jul 22 02:32:03 I didnt look too hard but i’m thinking around $75-100 Jul 22 02:32:49 I mean it’s just a convenience so it isn’t that big of a deal. Just would have been nice to put my N810 to use other than hanging out in a drawer. Carman doesn’t seem to work at all now even though i remember it working Jul 22 02:33:07 Weird tbh. Don’t see why it wouldn’t i think all the deps etc are the same. Jul 22 02:44:30 I was not able to get my N900 to interface with my car but it was too many years ago for me to remember which application(s) I tried. I currently use Android OS 8 on an LG G5, which is nice but would be nicer if it had an AMOLED display instead of an IPS AMLCD. Torque and AndrOBD work for me with a low-cost Bluetooth↔OBD adapter. I originally used VAG-COM, which became VCDS Lite, on a Windows notebook computer to interface with my car whilst I still had Jul 22 02:44:30 a 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle TDI but in 2014 I had to replace my car and I switched from the N900 to Android. Jul 22 02:55:03 I never had any of the predecessors of the N900 because they did not have integrated cellular telephony capability; I am idealistic and want to carry only one computer with me, which means I mostly do not use notebook computers, which suck for my use case anyway because of their monolithic hardware design. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Jul 22 03:02:02 2019
