**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Oct 01 02:59:57 2020 Oct 01 14:51:10 is there a image of meego for n900 remaining? i want to see how it was like Oct 01 14:51:52 there used to be Oct 01 14:52:19 I might have one around, but I'd need to upload it I think Oct 01 15:58:22 ~bm Oct 01 15:58:23 well, backupmenu is http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=63975, or one-click install handling dependency issues: http://maemo.cloud-7.de/maemo5/et_al/HAM-catalogs/BM.install Oct 01 16:15:05 could easy debian be used with images debian itself provides? the last image made for it is debian jessie and i don't know if it's repos would still work or not. Oct 01 16:16:12 untakenstupidnic: there are two efforts going for n900 that I am aware of. Meamo Leste, based on Maemo by updating to newer debian and replacing non-free stuff with free software, and postmarketos, which provide several interfaces for several models. Oct 01 16:17:07 I got an old n900 last week to play with, flashed the original maemo image into the firmware and have been tested both postmarketos and leste using a sd card. Oct 01 16:18:17 see and for the latter. not sure where I found the old maemo image. Oct 01 16:19:47 my problem with maemo leste is that it both rapidly consumes battery and doesn't shutdown when battery gets too low unlike fremantle. and after that it would be hard to get n900 to turn on. Oct 01 16:20:22 and i have failed so far to save the phone in time. Oct 01 16:23:18 right. then you know the alternatives. Oct 01 16:23:49 and postmarketOS is unlikely to be any better. Oct 01 16:24:26 easy debian is actually a chroot environment on fremantle Oct 01 16:25:40 I do not remember it being hard to find a replacement firmware. Oct 01 16:28:10 untakenstupidnic: the power usage on the n900 will get fixed Oct 01 16:28:23 untakenstupidnic: found it. I used http://maemo.cloud-7.de/maemo5/patches_n_tools/maemo-my-private-workdir.tgz and flash-it-all.sh. Oct 01 16:28:34 we'll get it to a couple days Oct 01 16:28:38 it's like what, 8 hours now? Oct 01 16:28:46 4 Oct 01 16:31:05 Wizzup: nice, let me know when the new image is out Oct 01 16:32:52 i don't remember how many hours it did last. Oct 01 16:51:14 4 doesn't sound like a lot to be honest ... is it really 4? Oct 01 16:51:39 that is what leste is telling me, at least. Oct 01 17:43:33 did bada attract any hacker community? searches bring nothing Oct 01 17:44:59 what is bada? Oct 01 17:45:40 pere: untakenstupidnic: btw https://twitter.com/maemoleste/status/1226265997981646849 Oct 01 17:45:45 this is without powervr driver and in idle Oct 01 17:46:08 I have a hunch that the current powervr driver might block OFF mode, so I need to investigate, but had a lot of other things going on Oct 01 17:46:47 pere: samsung's previous phone linux Oct 01 19:05:34 < untakenstupidnic> and postmarketOS is unlikely to be any better < i had made a tweak in pmOS for auto-shutdown at 3.2V (which was working for me) .. it got drowned in other not-exactly related discussion though :( Oct 01 19:06:01 point being - with some scripting at least, you can get your Leste N900 to shutdown in time Oct 01 19:06:53 Leste lasts me at least 8 hours, if not longer on N900 Oct 01 19:08:33 but yes, I'd also be interested to have a quick play on MeeGo - i remember trying Nemo, not MeeGo :-/ Oct 02 00:04:55 found this: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1029746&postcount=126 **** ENDING LOGGING AT Fri Oct 02 02:59:57 2020
