**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Apr 29 23:59:57 2005 Apr 30 10:19:52 *takes a bow for his first successful slu->brick upgrade* Apr 30 10:21:38 for which I was going to ask a question, but in the time honoured style I saw the answer moments before asking. In -m http mode, it needs to be /NSLU2_V23R25.bin and not NSLU2_V23R25.bin. Waiting while RedBoot hopefully does its thing. Apr 30 10:27:24 damn. hanging. Apr 30 10:29:30 the sercomm utility is usually what I've used... Apr 30 10:30:02 the hardest part is just getting slug into upgrade mode Apr 30 10:30:32 i've gone through the whole list :) sercomm was a bit dubious because the nslu2 site doesn't link to a sercomm download. I had to google, and when the windows app I downloaded didn't like the ethernet in my laptop I moved onto the linux upslug script. Apr 30 10:30:56 Linux upslug script seemed to hang when I tried to fix the brick without going into RedBoot. When I went into RedBoot, it couldn't see the slug anymore. Apr 30 10:32:02 RedBoot didn't seem to see the TFTPD server on the Windows box, so I dumped the file in the root of a Tomcat server and switched to http. Unsure if it's getting anywhere though. I tried a 2nd time, saw a | turn to a / and that was it. Eth light still blinking though. Apr 30 10:32:26 it can take quite a bit for the firmware flash Apr 30 10:32:54 should the | / - \ indicator continue to spin? Apr 30 10:33:14 longer than it might seem... the sercomm utility does give an indication of how much has been done Apr 30 10:33:34 i'll give it some time :) Apr 30 10:33:49 i screwed up in rolling the 64M unslung attempt back to linksys Apr 30 10:34:26 i booted with the flash in, because I figured it would need that. Flipped to maintenance mode and let it boot again. Then did the update. I realised as it started that the flash was still in, yanked it out and the update died. Apr 30 10:34:43 ooof Apr 30 10:34:47 s/started/started the update/ Apr 30 10:39:34 (usual nick. lets me goto other irc channels) Apr 30 10:52:48 trying sercomm on a different windows box instead. seems to be going well so far :) Apr 30 11:03:49 and brick->slug again :) thanks. Apr 30 11:03:55 sercomm worked a treat. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Apr 30 23:59:57 2005
