Jun 02 13:14:26 <Wolf_HFS> but I guess I've found the problem. Now that the box is rebooted (and reinitialized) {dev,var}.sate have files in. before there where no files. so no files where copied to the disk. so /dev on the disk was missing the important file-nodes

Jun 02 13:24:43 <Wolf_HFS> yeah. Maybe for the nslu2-log bot. The fix for the bad slugging was to delete /.sda1root and reboot without disks attached. So /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit could reinitialize /{dev,var}.state with it's appropiated files. A following /sbin/unsling disk1 did it's rest :)
