**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Jun 01 23:59:56 2005 Jun 02 10:10:42 morning Jun 02 10:11:27 have anybody an idea, why a slug (r29) beeps 5 times during startup, and before the last (one) beep, which signals ready? Jun 02 12:57:42 hi Jun 02 12:58:01 moin Jun 02 13:03:43 I guess I've a little prblem. My box only starts when no disk is attached. I already tried to reflash uNSLUng-4.20-beta but the problem still exists :( Jun 02 13:05:00 what happens when the disk is attached? Jun 02 13:05:45 it get's mounted for sure. but whe I reboot the system it hangs Jun 02 13:06:24 at which led and beep state? Jun 02 13:07:16 ready = eth = disk1 = green and no beep Jun 02 13:08:02 any changes in /opt/etc/init.d? or /unslung? Jun 02 13:08:17 not yet ;) Jun 02 13:08:51 formated the disk trough the web interface and then reflashed. Jun 02 13:09:01 but the slug with disk attached had starts correctly sometimes? Jun 02 13:09:39 no Jun 02 13:09:53 but I'll try something right now. Jun 02 13:10:13 hm, may be stook in maintenance mode after flashing Jun 02 13:11:07 took a look at /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit. I#ll try to delete /.sda1root and reboot the sytem without disk. maybe this sets up the inital system again :/ Jun 02 13:11:52 Not really. I pressed the button in the web interface and it said it'll go back to normal mode but /.ramdisk still exists Jun 02 13:12:16 so, you've delted all appearing .ramdisk files? Jun 02 13:12:23 s/delted/deleted Jun 02 13:12:56 yea ;) Jun 02 13:13:25 in jffs2 also? Jun 02 13:14:26 but I guess I've found the problem. Now that the box is rebooted (and reinitialized) {dev, var}.sate have files in. before there where no files. so no files where copied to the disk. so /dev on the disk was missing the important file-nodes Jun 02 13:14:45 I'll unsling again and hope that it'll do it Jun 02 13:15:05 much fun (daumen drück) Jun 02 13:15:17 thanks Jun 02 13:16:18 *rebooting* Jun 02 13:18:46 yes! =) Jun 02 13:18:50 works Jun 02 13:18:54 nice Jun 02 13:19:24 may be worth to leave an entry in the wiki Jun 02 13:20:04 yeah, maybe. But I didn't really know who the failure happend Jun 02 13:20:20 just figured out how to fix it :) Jun 02 13:20:54 don't know what the error is, but know, how to fix it.... tsts ;-) Jun 02 13:21:38 I knew what the error was but I don't know who it happend. That's what I've said Jun 02 13:21:56 oos. sorry.. Jun 02 13:22:03 s/oos/oops Jun 02 13:22:14 np Jun 02 13:24:43 yeah. Maybe for the nslu2-log bot. The fix for the bad slugging was to delete /.sda1root and reboot without disks attached. So /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit could reinitialize /{dev,var}.state with it's appropiated files. A following /sbin/unsling disk1 did it's rest :) Jun 02 14:14:34 bye folks **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Jun 02 23:59:57 2005
