**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Jun 08 23:59:56 2005 Jun 09 12:54:32 Hello - I'm not sure if it's better to ask here or the ML but I noticed that the inetutils package includes quite an old version of whois and was wondering what was the best way to go about updating it, make a patch for the existing package to include a newer whois or make a separate package just for whois Jun 09 13:26:53 AdamBaker: optware inetutils version is 1.4.2 based on gnu inetutils 1.4.2, there is no newer version of the gnu inetutils avaiable. If you like to have a newer whois, it may be the best way to buld a separate package. Jun 09 13:35:31 The author of the whois that got included in inetutils has updated it considerably since it was put into inetutils but inetutils hasn't picked up the changes. Both Debian and Suse use the authors current version and have dropped the whois from inetutils. I was just concerned if I created a separate package how to handle 2 packages that wanted to create an /opt/bin/whois Jun 09 13:46:12 that's a little problem, well, then you should contact bob_tm as paket maintainter in the ML or at #nslu2-linux, and discuss this point with him Jun 09 13:56:00 OK, Thanks Jun 09 16:05:00 hi Jun 09 16:05:03 jemand da ? **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Jun 09 23:59:57 2005
