**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri May 12 09:59:56 2006 May 12 11:18:11 Neu: boot up without disks, telnet in, then delete "/.sda1root" or "/.sdb1root", whichever exists on your NLSU2 -- then reboot and you can unsling again. Or you can just reflash... May 12 11:18:48 there's no .sd*root there May 12 11:18:59 there are .unslung and unslung/, though May 12 11:22:17 That's odd. The presence of the ".sd?1boot" file on the root of the fs is what triggers the boot sequence to not mount /dev and /var as ramdisks, and leads to the message you observed. The /unslung is supposed to be there, as is the /.unslung file. May 12 11:26:20 Well, I have no explanation for you -- try rebooting the NSLU2 and do the unsling command once again. If you get the same message, you'll have to reflash the firmware. As Eiffel noted, you can't reflash from the GUI, you'll have to reflash using the redboot upgrade mode (per the wiki page Eiffel posted). May 12 11:26:52 yeah, I'll do the flashing in redboot upgrade if I have to May 12 11:27:05 thanks for the help, though May 12 11:28:14 Anyway, I'll have to that when I get home, I'm debugging from work May 12 11:30:42 a reboot did the trick. May 12 11:31:46 the wonders of modern science May 12 11:32:34 OK, my problem was that I didn't reboot after formatting the disk May 12 11:32:51 again, thanks for your help guys. I won't bother you more today. May 12 11:33:41 hadde nok spist meg en omelett isteden May 12 11:33:47 oops, wrong channel May 12 13:54:56 anyone here having problems formatting with the built in web-interface? my 500gb lacie bigDisk won't format properly :( May 12 16:17:45 hi @ all May 12 16:20:21 is someone around who could help me with unslung/x11 May 12 16:20:22 ? May 12 19:03:57 *battery May 12 19:12:07 ah May 12 19:12:13 it needs to be pushed in further May 12 19:12:25 (i just opened my other slug to check May 12 19:13:49 its just how to get the clip to go down May 12 19:15:33 any ideas? May 12 21:10:31 mika_ :) May 12 21:43:44 mika_ :) May 12 22:45:15 I'm trying to get the keyspan USB-serial working. I've got openslug-2.7 May 12 22:45:34 I found the kernel-module-keyspan-pda but not the kernel-module-keyspan May 12 22:46:16 the device pops up in dmesg (just as a generic usb device) May 12 22:46:44 but I'm not sure if the keyspan-pda module is the right one. May 12 22:46:55 and is there modprobe/insmod? doesn't seem to be.. May 12 22:47:13 do I have to copy the module name into /etc/modutiles/ and then update-modules? May 12 22:47:49 and How can I rmmod if I don't like what I have? remove that /etc/modutils entry and the update-modules again? May 12 22:47:52 thanks for any help... May 12 22:48:56 hmm.. Looks like update-modules wants depmod as well... May 12 22:49:11 I just did an ipkg update and ipkg upgrade--did that get rid of depmod?!? May 12 22:52:03 hmm. su'ing in seemed to have screwed up my path--ahhh the usual. May 12 22:53:42 just trying to insmod keyspan_pda I get an Unknown symbol error.. where can I find the old keyspan.ko? May 13 02:26:22 Where it says Unslung 6.x has "Limited support for USB hubs on USB Port 1 on the NSLU2", that means I can NOT do backups between USB attached drives, correct? May 13 03:09:58 Spartanian: depends on what you mean by backups. Drives work fine on Unslung 6.x with hubs, the GUI doesn't know about more than one drive on Port 1 is the problem. If you mount the target drive yourself and do the backup yourself, it should work ok (although not fast). May 13 05:01:56 Hi! Does anyone know where to find the Unslung 6.8 keyspan.o module mentioned in the release notes? May 13 05:04:58 Hi!
