Jun 06 17:12:57 yes Jun 06 17:13:02 though only 5.5 Jun 06 17:17:08 i was using that too before the upgrade Jun 06 17:17:21 i'm going to try ftp first Jun 06 17:20:37 ... Jun 06 17:20:48 any results yet so I could compare? Jun 06 17:21:56 must leave soon Jun 06 17:26:23 ...that is slow ftp. (pun intended) Jun 06 17:29:56 :) Jun 06 17:30:03 sorry had other screen visible Jun 06 17:30:13 still having problems installing ftp Jun 06 17:30:47 (installed, but won't logon) Jun 06 17:30:58 will try another server Jun 06 17:52:05 Hello. I have a question about the installation of Debian "etch" on my NSLU2. Jun 06 17:53:18 I have two NSLU2s, the first is running Debian "sarge" under the old instructions starting with OpenSlug. This NSLU2 uses a 1 GB SanDisk USB flash disk. Jun 06 17:54:24 For my new NSLU2 I purchased a 2 GB SanDisk USB flash disk. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it's possible for me to format this 2 GB disk with the "etch" partition tool. It seems to fail each time I've tried. Jun 06 17:54:51 Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Any hints on what I should do? Jun 06 17:57:46 which installer are you using ryan? Jun 06 17:58:39 The Debian installer with the Intel Ethernet driver built in. Jun 06 17:58:42 the unofficial one without the need for ethernet usb adapter? Jun 06 17:58:45 aha Jun 06 17:59:04 Yes, the unofficial one. Jun 06 17:59:05 installed that one a few days ago too Jun 06 17:59:18 didn't notice any problems though Jun 06 17:59:31 does the stick get recognized? Jun 06 17:59:41 I'm looking at a screen right now that is titled "Partition disks". Jun 06 17:59:57 Following that is a description of what this should do. Jun 06 18:00:11 Then below is an area where choices should exist. Jun 06 18:00:21 erase entire disk etc. Jun 06 18:00:29 The only choice which exists for me is "Manually edit partition table". Jun 06 18:00:50 you have access to a windows/linux machine ? Jun 06 18:00:59 (probably yes, as you're here atm ;)) Jun 06 18:01:13 try removing all the partitions on the flash disk Jun 06 18:02:06 Yes, I have Windows XP, NetBSD 3.0 and Red Hat Linux AS 4. Jun 06 18:02:07 you should be able to see something like erase entire disk: scsi (sda) - 2.0GB brand of memorystick Jun 06 18:02:18 in that menu Jun 06 18:02:41 Ok, what appears there now is one partition and it is FAT32. Jun 06 18:02:49 It consumes the entire disk. Jun 06 18:02:54 well erase that partition Jun 06 18:03:08 Ok. I will try that now. One moment. Jun 06 18:03:33 then create a new partition that almost fills up the entire space Jun 06 18:03:40 ext3 filesystem Jun 06 18:04:00 Ok, should I leave room for a swap partition? Jun 06 18:04:20 and create an logical partition for your swap (which will be sda5 and 60 MB in size i think) Jun 06 18:04:31 you decide on the size Jun 06 18:04:51 I will do that now, one moment. Jun 06 18:05:43 i'm having slow transfer issues with this firmware though.. Jun 06 18:05:55 everything works, but performance is really bad Jun 06 18:06:14 now transferring with samba: 1120kbyte/s from the slug Jun 06 18:06:57 Cpu(s): 3.1% us, 4.4% sy, 0.0% ni, 67.7% id, 18.9% wa, 3.9% hi, 2.0% si Jun 06 18:11:28 how's that going? Jun 06 18:26:07 bazz-: I have rewritten the partition table to have partition 1 Linux and partition 2 Linux swap. Jun 06 18:26:18 ok Jun 06 18:26:24 sda5 is swap? Jun 06 18:26:25 I then formatted partition 1 as EXT3 and ran mkswap. Jun 06 18:26:39 should be ok normally, what does the installer say now? Jun 06 18:26:40 Will sda2 work? Jun 06 18:26:49 not sure, but you could try Jun 06 18:26:52 Will sda2 work for swap? Jun 06 18:27:15 I am booting the installer image now. Jun 06 18:27:22 ok brb Jun 06 18:27:43 Do you have a flash drive or a hard disk? Jun 06 18:30:36 I have only a flash disk and I was wondering if it makes any difference if I insert it into port 1 or 2. I currently have it in 1. This is also how I have my other NSLU2 configured. Jun 06 18:36:23 i have a hdd, but don't know if that makes any difference Jun 06 18:39:00 got to go Jun 06 18:39:05 laterz Jun 06 18:39:09 ok, thanks for your help Jun 06 18:39:19 later Jun 06 20:34:06 hello Jun 06 20:35:56 anyone has boundary scan exprience with the NSLU2 ? Jun 06 20:53:18 i seem to have a corrupted file that i'd like to get rid of but can't: Jun 06 20:53:20 rm -r /share/hdd/data/var/log/samba/ Jun 06 20:53:20 rm: unable to stat `/share/hdd/data/var/log/samba/log.smbd': Input/output error Jun 06 20:53:20 rm: unable to remove `/share/hdd/data/var/log/samba': Directory not empty Jun 06 20:53:20 [root@2sparrows-NAS root]$ unlink /share/hdd/data/var/log/samba/log.smb Jun 06 21:13:15 window 11 Jun 06 22:18:34 sean: got rid of the file yet?
