**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon Oct 09 02:59:56 2006 Oct 09 06:34:57 how can I set a share to have a disk quota Oct 09 06:46:42 anyone? Oct 09 13:33:39 hello. i have a fresh NSLU2 with Oct 09 13:34:03 ..onto which i have flashed openslug with upslug... but what IP does the machine get? how do i access it? Oct 09 13:35:05 it doesnt seem to get an IP from the local DHCP server. and 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.77 is dead. (but i managed to access redboot at 192.168.0.1) Oct 09 13:36:02 i havn't run the windows cd with the setup, since i only run linux at my computer. must i find a linux-machine to configure the NSLU2? Oct 09 13:38:08 Guest8199 is now connecting as 'jerker' instead from irssi... this is the java-applet signing off Oct 09 13:55:37 So. anyone has any ideas what default IP-adress the NSLU2 has with Unslung or OpenSlug? Oct 09 14:04:56 jerker: should be either 192.168.1.77, or it might possibly request an IP via DHCP - should be one or the other. If you unplug the network cable, and let it boot (it might take a loooooong time - I'd leave it for 15 - 20 minutes), then plug it in, it should be at 192.168.1.77. Oct 09 14:08:30 jerker, what version openslug? Oct 09 15:59:28 my nslu2 running debianslug restarted for no apparent reason Oct 09 15:59:37 and the strange thing is, there's a shutdown entry in syslog Oct 09 15:59:41 so it seems to have been a controlled shutdown Oct 09 16:03:22 heat problem? Oct 09 16:03:51 giallu: does the nslu2 have heat detection to initiate a shutdown? Oct 09 16:04:51 sdh, not sure, but I prefer to consider this _before_ nastier things... Oct 09 16:05:23 giallu: it's entirely possible that it's heat - in the disk enclosure at least, it's very hot Oct 09 16:05:34 but it's not hot in the nslu2, even though it's de-underclocked Oct 09 16:05:59 any hint in the syslog _before_ the shutdown? Oct 09 16:06:08 nope, just a bunch of MARKs Oct 09 16:06:13 very odd Oct 09 16:07:33 Oct 9 14:54:02 snail shutdown[20738]: shutting down for system reboot Oct 09 16:07:57 annoying that I can't backtrack from that Oct 09 16:08:18 other logs? /var/log/secure for example Oct 09 16:11:27 nothing that i can see Oct 09 16:11:34 it's as though somebody actually did a halt Oct 09 16:13:18 change the ssh default port or enable only connection with ssh-keys of course after adding your sshkeys ;-) Oct 09 16:14:14 and disabling ssh for root could help too Oct 09 16:15:16 but as long as you didnt forwarded the ssh port in your router it shouldnt be a hack from outside ;-) Oct 09 16:15:22 -ed Oct 09 16:15:56 and normaly if someone got into it he wouldnt stop the slug Oct 09 16:16:07 Eiffel: the ssh port isn't 22, it's running in private IP space on an airgapped network :) Oct 09 16:17:06 what i mean is, it's either the hardware or something on the box Oct 09 16:17:15 i'm fairly sure i didn't halt it :) Oct 09 16:18:07 what about someone pressed the fron button? Oct 09 16:18:57 well it's me, sitting here Oct 09 16:18:59 nobody else :) Oct 09 16:19:05 hehe Oct 09 16:20:38 ok. so I'm out of ideas Oct 09 16:20:58 heh thanks for the help tho Oct 09 16:38:44 sdh, maybe something touched the power buttone. Oct 09 16:38:54 button even... Oct 09 16:45:01 joshin: yeah, not sure what though as it's sitting right next to me.. possibly a short, is uppose Oct 09 16:46:30 Don't know. Just thinking of what could cause a controlled shutdown. Unless that was your slug I logged into this morning. :p Oct 09 16:47:08 :p Oct 09 16:56:03 Hey l0c4lh0st! Miss your insightful commentary! Oct 09 16:56:43 Ehhh? Oct 09 18:26:54 mwester & joshin: Thanks! After rebooting without network it settled for 192.168.1.77! Current firmware is V2.3R63-uNSLUng-6.8-beta. Hmm, according to FAQ user admin pass admin - yes - works fine! Thanks! Time to get NFS working. :-) Oct 09 20:06:00 how can I set a share to have a disk quota Oct 09 20:09:32 DrJ, which firmware do you use? Oct 09 20:12:27 unslung Oct 09 20:12:36 DrJ, if you use unslung-x.y then http://SLUGS_IP/Management/file_sharing.cgi?next_file=users.htm , Enable Disk Quota of xxx MB maybe a way Oct 09 20:13:07 Firmware Version: V2.3R29-uNSLUng-5.5-beta Oct 09 20:13:40 well, ok, then, like i have posted before... Oct 09 20:15:03 I need to set a quota for a share, not a user Oct 09 20:15:25 hm Oct 09 20:15:31 and I do not believe that form works anymore Oct 09 20:15:37 as I upgraded the samba Oct 09 20:21:34 any ideas caplink811-log? Oct 09 20:23:35 it seems, that swat (running on samba 3.x) doesn#t offer me any options on topic quota, neither in the shares nor in the global section (imho, quotas are a system thing), maybe, you should ask on a samba channel, e.g. #samba (don't know, if this channel exists) Oct 09 20:50:12 caplink811-log, I'm not sure if the slug has the commands to do it like you would normally on linux Oct 09 20:51:56 the only way I am seeing right now is creating like partitions with the size you want the quota to be....however, I have no idea how to do that either Oct 09 20:52:35 hm, something depends on the kernel modules, and something on the applications, but i assuming, everything, what is needed is available (via ipkg install bla) Oct 09 21:15:11 caplink811_log Oct 09 21:15:22 do you have access to the main page on nslu2-linux.org Oct 09 21:37:22 anyone know how to run system() exec() and commands like that in php on Apache without hanging the server? Oct 09 21:46:47 Is that related to slug? Oct 09 21:50:15 yes Oct 09 21:50:29 no exec(), system() or similar functions available in php: This version of the pkg has the apache worker MPM modules. Becasue of certain problems with threading, any system() type of calls from php scripts will hang the server. It may be possible to build a version with prefork module (instead of the current worker module) and that might overcome this problem. [Chacko 2006.04.05] Oct 09 21:50:35 http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Unslung/Apache Oct 09 21:50:41 * DrJ really needs those commands Oct 09 21:54:47 any ideas around that? Oct 09 21:54:49 ah ok Oct 09 21:55:11 the doc is right Oct 09 21:55:16 it does hang the server Oct 09 21:55:21 is apache has this prob, maybe you can look at alternatives? Oct 09 21:55:28 every time I run the php script the server freezes and must be restarted Oct 09 21:55:37 there are several http servers in the repo Oct 09 21:55:51 I think apache is the only one that has php Oct 09 21:55:55 I am using lighttpd for example, though I don't know if exec() works Oct 09 21:56:10 mod_php, probably Oct 09 21:56:18 but I'm using php as cgi Oct 09 21:56:25 and it works fine Oct 09 21:56:34 php as cgi? Oct 09 21:57:47 * DrJ is -attempting- to build an ipkg frontend in php Oct 09 21:58:04 one better than the ipkg frontend that was already made Oct 09 21:58:19 the only thing stopping me is this system() function Oct 09 21:59:23 #### fastcgi module Oct 09 21:59:23 ## read fastcgi.txt for more info Oct 09 21:59:23 #fastcgi.server = ( ".php" => Oct 09 21:59:23 # ( "localhost" => Oct 09 21:59:23 # ( Oct 09 21:59:24 # "socket" => "/tmp/php-fastcgi.socket", Oct 09 21:59:26 # "bin-path" => "/usr/local/bin/php" Oct 09 21:59:30 # ) Oct 09 21:59:32 # ) Oct 09 21:59:34 # ) Oct 09 21:59:56 that is an excerpt from the config Oct 09 22:00:42 it basically run php by forking it and communicating with it via sockets Oct 09 23:41:11 anyone want to help me with what giallu was talking about Oct 10 01:18:47 ? Oct 10 02:09:50 :( Oct 10 02:30:06 ~question Oct 10 02:30:12 ~ask Oct 10 02:30:26 Doggone bot... Oct 10 02:31:18 DrJ: if you have a question, go ahead and ask -- perhaps someone who can help will be able to answer it for you...
