**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon Nov 13 02:59:57 2006 Nov 13 07:47:47 hi Nov 13 07:49:15 i'm currently trying to run debootstrap (debianslug) on my new nslu2, but the installer quits/stops after downloading/extracting all the files Nov 13 07:49:36 the guide says there should be a message, that the base system was successfully installed Nov 13 07:49:58 i also found two error messages in the debootstrap.log: Nov 13 07:50:32 what are the errors? Nov 13 07:51:04 "zcat: bad block type 3" Nov 13 07:51:08 and Nov 13 07:51:21 "chroot: cannot execute mount: No such file or directory" Nov 13 07:51:58 not sure about the zcat, but the chroot should be fixable Nov 13 07:52:22 Have you thought about using the debian installer rather than bootstrapping? Nov 13 07:53:35 i thought about that ... but I wasn't sure about how to do it, because I'm using an firmware with included raid-drivers from EvilDevil and all guides for debianinstaller are using two different images Nov 13 07:53:57 is it possible to copy the files needed by the debian installer to the nslu2 with scp? Nov 13 07:57:03 don't think so, you flash it with upslug, and it reboots into the installer Nov 13 07:57:37 then I can't do that, because I need the image with the raid drivers Nov 13 07:57:45 but do you now how to fix the chroot error? Nov 13 07:58:05 I would guess try and find what directory it's looking for Nov 13 07:58:13 and make it yourself Nov 13 07:59:26 but the directory it is looking for isn't mentioned ... Nov 13 08:01:49 have you looked in /var/log/messages? Nov 13 08:02:00 it should be in there Nov 13 08:04:23 there's no messages-logfile ... Nov 13 08:06:22 never mind, I'll try the installation again and probably I'll be using the standard image to flash the nslu2 Nov 13 08:09:32 thanks Nov 13 12:44:32 Hello, I've been bashing my head against a busybox problem on the 6.8 firmware; I can't seem to find the busybox-base package in the ipkg feeds, and since this doesn't seem to exist, well, I can't manage to get the busybox package to install either. Am I the gazillionth luser to ask this question or is it actually something that is broken? Nov 13 14:04:57 Alex_SWE: You're the second user to ask, and yes it is actually something that is broken. Try "ipkg update" and check again; it may take some time (possibly a looong time) for the autobuilds to rebuild everything... Nov 13 14:55:31 mwester: Okay; that was what I thought, but I've been wrong before :-) Is it safe to say that a good way to check if it ought to work is to search the ipkg package database from the web? As of now it doesn't list the -base or the -links packages? Nov 13 14:56:40 Yeah, probably -- I'm not sure that the package search mechanism is "real-time", but if it lags the feeds, it should only be hours, not days. Nov 13 14:56:57 Okay, then I know :-) Huge thanks! Nov 13 14:57:03 np :) Nov 13 15:02:08 Alex_SWE and mwester : see http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/nslu2-linux/message/16030 Nov 13 15:02:34 i think we need to trigger a rebuild of busybox Nov 13 15:28:56 Whoops, well, that can explain the ... slight problems we've talked about :-) Nov 13 15:29:19 Who can trigger such a rebuild? Nov 13 16:13:51 Alex_SWE: i did Nov 13 21:23:50 Hah. Two days trying to compile mono-1.2 from scratch on a debianslug and it hung. Ended up killing it and set aside for another attempt later. Nov 14 02:24:48 anyone around? Nov 14 02:29:02 anyone around? **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Nov 14 02:59:57 2006
