Apr 11 11:13:27 newp Apr 11 11:13:33 no permission to upload Apr 11 11:13:43 hmm Apr 11 11:15:45 or via scp Apr 11 11:16:26 Just tried FTP, logging in with details from web admin, i can create files and stuff... so surely you can upload Apr 11 11:16:30 winscp is good enough win client (if ever needed) to do the task Apr 11 11:17:47 connecting via scp Apr 11 11:18:04 I've got to go out Apr 11 11:18:09 Bye Apr 11 12:35:16 if you browse to it in ssh Apr 11 12:35:16 touch index.html Apr 11 12:35:16 nano -w index.html Apr 11 12:35:16 and paste it in Apr 11 12:35:28 You can omit the "touch" there. Apr 11 12:35:40 You just nano -w index.html and save itwhen you exit :-) Apr 11 12:36:43 was bit wondering that myself as well ;) Apr 11 12:39:07 Also, a little tip, add to your ~/.bashrc "alias nano = nano -w" to mean you don't need tp type the -w option each time. Apr 11 12:39:20 I always use the -w option, so I just have it in the alias. Apr 11 12:40:14 alias nano='nano -w' Apr 11 12:40:25 ^^ that's the way it should be, not as I said just above. Apr 11 12:49:48 yeah, but I do that automaticly anyway :D Apr 11 12:50:00 so it would just become nano -w -w Apr 11 12:50:49 My favourite alias is recall='history | grep' Apr 11 12:51:30 lunar: although I would do it by adding set nowrap to /opt/etc/nanorc Apr 11 12:52:34 drif, true, that's probably a superior solution. Apr 11 12:53:30 had to tinker a bit with nanorc :D when confronted something unexpectable behaviour Apr 11 12:54:16 tried to edit linuxrc within miniroot.gz :D and damn nano saved it as mac-format - all the other files were recognized correctly Apr 11 12:54:50 took me whole day to realise that - was just wondering why the pxe boot got broken Apr 11 12:56:23 Hehe, I haven't had any problems with nano - though I'm now using debian on my slug. Apr 11 12:56:36 me neither before that moment Apr 11 13:00:30 which version of nano? Apr 11 13:00:47 probs occured with GNU nano version 1.3.12 Apr 11 19:41:09 Would anybody have a minute to help a newbie with a problem? Apr 11 19:46:09 what's your problem? Apr 11 19:47:02 well, FrostyJack just characterise your problem, and someone may have a solution Apr 11 19:47:14 This is the second time I've tried to set up my slug. I've put the Debian firmware onto it and it boots up OK beeping 3 times. The problem is that I can't SSH to it. I'm using fixed IP with an address of 192.168.1.77. The netmask is 255.255.255.0 and the gateway is 192.168.1.1 (my WRT54G router). I've left the DNS server blank. When the slug boots up I try to SSH in using the command "ssh installer@192.168.1.77" Apr 11 19:49:10 Always a nuisance, this bit, in my experience Apr 11 19:49:17 but basic networking, akak ping slug_ip works? Apr 11 19:49:17 does the slug respond to ping? Apr 11 19:50:08 Doesn't respond to ping no. Apr 11 19:50:30 hmm Apr 11 19:50:35 I used the unofficial image with the ethernet driver but I'm still not convinced it's working. Apr 11 19:50:46 does the ethernet light flash Apr 11 19:51:13 It's on at the slug yeah. Is that what you mean? Apr 11 19:51:26 well, it should flash with activity from time to time Apr 11 19:51:39 Let me just double check that. Apr 11 19:51:48 try connecting a computer directly to the NSLU2 and pinging the IP then Apr 11 19:57:22 The odd flash from the led. I'll give that a go. Any ideas in general or is that a bit vague? Apr 11 20:01:20 Have to run guys. Thanks a lot for your help. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Apr 12 02:59:57 2007
