**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Jul 13 02:59:57 2007 Jul 13 03:37:14 if anybody's listening, I would really appreciate some help with the Seagate Freeagent issue discussed here: http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/FAQ/DealWithAutoSpinDownOnSeagateFreeAgent Jul 13 03:37:27 I've created an init.d script, but it doesn't work - the allowrestart flag is always reset to 0 when I reboot. Jul 13 09:37:51 hi, i want to install slugos, but i don't know what to install, big endian, or little endian, i don't want to install debian Jul 13 09:38:09 ps i use ubuntu on my laptop Jul 13 09:43:49 brb Jul 13 09:59:22 ? Jul 13 10:10:45 what are you going to use your slug for Jul 13 10:14:06 i want to use it as a normal computer, so i can ssh into the machine and maybe run a little webserver for local use Jul 13 10:14:32 have you considered just using unslung Jul 13 10:15:12 yes, but i want to compile my own software and i don't need the web interface Jul 13 10:16:40 what do you think that's the best for me, LE or BE Jul 13 10:17:08 performance is important and i want to use many packages on it Jul 13 10:18:07 * DrJ has no clue...I was just going to suggest unslung :) Jul 13 10:18:46 I've not messed with any of the others Jul 13 10:19:14 i'll consider, thanks Jul 13 11:30:38 i have a slug that for some reason is mounting one of the filesystems /dev/sdb1 as read-only. Bit of a problem as this is where the users data get's stored. If i umount it and remount it i can get it read-write but by default it's ro. Anyone know why and how to fix it? Jul 13 11:45:45 warlord0: check the options in /etc/fstab Jul 13 11:45:52 see if its set to mouny ro Jul 13 11:46:06 mount* Jul 13 11:47:26 listed as default i think. not handy right now but that was the first place i looked Jul 13 11:50:30 check /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog Jul 13 11:50:32 also dmesg Jul 13 11:50:36 see if theres any mention of it Jul 13 11:50:47 otherwise i'd suggest an fsck, see if theres any errors Jul 13 11:50:52 what fs is it formatted with? Jul 13 11:52:18 ext3 i ran e2fsck with no problems Jul 13 11:52:31 hmm Jul 13 11:52:47 dont know, sorry Jul 13 11:52:54 yeah i'm at a loss too Jul 13 11:52:59 anything in the log files? Jul 13 11:53:30 i did find a post online that suggests the slug is limited to a certain number of writes and then you must run the gui scan disk Jul 13 11:53:43 nothing obvious in the logs that I could find Jul 13 11:54:12 but the gui scan disk wont run as the dive is "in use" Jul 13 11:55:10 what os are u running on it? Jul 13 11:55:26 unslung 6.8 Jul 13 11:55:41 hmm, dont know anything about unslung unfortunately Jul 13 11:56:01 please tell me you ran the e2fsck with the volume umounted Jul 13 11:56:09 oooh yes Jul 13 11:56:14 ok Jul 13 11:56:16 forced it unmount Jul 13 11:56:39 if you unmount it, then type mount /dev/sdb1 Jul 13 11:56:46 does it get mounted rw or ro? Jul 13 11:57:00 it mounts rw Jul 13 11:57:09 just not from a reboot Jul 13 11:57:38 i'd expect to see something in dmesg about it Jul 13 11:58:06 i'll double check as soon as i can get to it Jul 13 11:58:46 run something like grep -i sdb /var/log/dmesg Jul 13 11:59:00 see if anything interesting is mentioned Jul 13 11:59:09 good plan Jul 13 16:49:43 Hi, how can i make sure my root file system is on my flash disk and the slug is using my flash disk for swap? Jul 13 16:50:17 mwester, thank you for your help, i reflashed my slug and now it workes Jul 13 16:50:20 works* **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Jul 14 02:59:56 2007
