**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon Jul 23 02:59:56 2007 Jul 23 12:33:17 Moin, can anybody recommend a harddrive bigger than 250GB for the NSLU2? Jul 23 13:19:12 Hello, is for openslug 3.10beta libftdi libftdi-dev package available please or do I need to compile libftdi-0.10 on the slug? Jul 23 14:37:11 I just thought of a new way to use/operate the slug... Jul 23 14:38:51 how about an simple operating system, with different memory sticks to accompany it. When booted it does hardly anything, but the different sticks will give it extra power when inserted (without reboot). things like: an ftp-server-stick, a webservers-stick, samba-stick, musicserver stick... Jul 23 14:39:52 so inserting the stick will fire up a service on the stick. Jul 23 14:40:26 maybe pressing the power-button will unload the service, and umount the stick to give you a chance to change the stick and services... Jul 23 14:40:55 I think this could be possible, or am I pushing my luck? Jul 23 14:48:37 Hmmm Jul 23 14:48:58 Well, you'd probably need a master drive there to have the base OS on. Jul 23 14:49:13 Tbh, I'm not sure what you'd get out of that, as opposed to installing them all on one. Jul 23 14:57:19 well, security wise there might be advantages: no webserver/ftp server unless a certain stick has been inserted. Jul 23 14:58:20 and also, the fun of trying to get it running might be challenging enough to be useful :) Jul 23 15:07:48 Yeah, but you could just stop the webserver running... Jul 23 15:13:21 true... Jul 23 15:13:46 The better challenge might be to write a script that was something like "switch-mode webserver" Jul 23 15:13:53 or "switch-mode mediacentre" Jul 23 15:23:28 that would be part of it in a way **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Jul 24 02:59:57 2007
