**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Nov 09 02:59:57 2008 Nov 09 14:35:37 Is it possible to get the NSLU2 to "wake on lan"? Nov 09 14:38:33 Lunar_Lamp: afaik, no Nov 09 14:39:18 Pity Nov 09 14:39:39 Thanks though Nov 09 14:40:19 You do that sort of thing if you have some external equipment, and some mods to the NSLU2. But nothing built-in. Nov 09 15:47:04 mwester: ok, thanks Nov 09 15:47:10 Is it a hard/exspensive mod? Nov 09 15:47:25 (or did you not have anything specific in mind) Nov 09 15:58:09 Lunar_Lamp: Yes, it's expensive. The solutions some have used involve an external box that you can telnet into that controls the power to a set of outlets, into which you plug your NLSU2 -- which you modify per the wiki to automatically power up when plugged in. Nov 09 15:58:25 Not practical unless you have a lot of these devices to manage remotely. Nov 09 15:59:42 Yeah, it'd be fine if you had an APC or something so you could just power things up, but not really viable for a little slug! Nov 10 01:24:38 Hi, Nov 10 01:25:31 ok so I used another usb ide adapter today, and now I dont get any errors dmesg, but it does not mount Nov 10 01:26:14 it says <5>scsi 4:0:0:0: Direct-Access USB TO I DE/SATA Device 0041 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 Nov 10 01:26:25 <5>sd 4:0:0:0: Attached scsi disk sdb Nov 10 01:26:36 <7>usb-storage: device scan complete Nov 10 01:28:33 it says disk sdb, but if I try to fdisk /dev/sdb it says Unable to read /dev/sdb Nov 10 01:30:03 maybe you could take a break from your slug adventures and learn to use linux Nov 10 01:30:18 install it on your desktop Nov 10 01:30:34 ugh.. Nov 10 01:30:42 can I play games? Nov 10 01:39:50 well that does not really matter Nov 10 01:40:00 I can just duel boot Nov 10 01:40:20 I thought so too Nov 10 01:40:55 but I found myself booting back into windows to do stuff the windows way whenever I encountered the least resistance Nov 10 01:43:13 well I mostly do my gaming 1 hour a day on my desktop, homework and web is done on my laptop, so I could put linux on my laptop Nov 10 01:43:51 I have used Knoppix, but how does this help my slug adventures? **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Nov 10 02:59:57 2008
