**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Jan 18 02:59:57 2009 Jan 18 11:38:04 has anyone used rtorrent with a scgi_port set? Jan 18 11:38:23 whenever I run rtorrent with the scgi_port set it just crashes taking up 100% cpu Jan 18 17:41:45 how can i tell if a certain kernel option is enabled in SlugOS? Jan 18 17:44:49 courtesy of google ;-) http://www.linuxinsight.com/proc_config.gz.html Jan 18 17:47:39 Did you ever send your USB errors to the mailing list? Jan 18 17:49:47 no Jan 18 17:49:56 I'm still getting issues Jan 18 17:52:43 I was getting USB disconnect messages, but started from scratch by doing another 'turnup memstick' and now I'm not getting the USB disconnect messages (I think because I haven't re-installed everything yet) but USB Audio doesn't work well, it's has static, stutter, and is choppy, i was looking into latency issues, which brought me to a kernel setting for USB dynamic bandwidth allocation Jan 18 17:53:03 Cool Jan 18 17:53:11 it's not cool =( Jan 18 17:53:18 heh Jan 18 17:54:41 There's been no real consideration of new kernel features recently, so there may be a number of things we should enable or add to the kernel config. Jan 18 17:55:11 mwester: I use kernel options on another Linux 2.6 kernel, but to use kernel options on SlugOS 5.2-alpha, I just have to create the /etc/modprobe.d/options? on the other distro that file is already created for me(but is blank( Jan 18 18:10:17 scant: I think you are confused. /etc/modprobe.d just sets parameter (arguments) for kernel modules, not kernel configs. SlugoS works ****EXACTLY**** the same as any other system in that regard. The only difference is that there are no required modules in the kernel that _need_ special options, so there's nothing in the OE build procedure that bothers to create the empty /etc/modprobe.d directory. Jan 18 18:11:24 If you need to add options to a module, then just create the directory, and create the file with the options. I do that all the time to feed options to the via-velocity driver on the dsmg600 when I'm testing/debugging that. Jan 18 18:11:57 mwester: thanks Jan 18 18:31:32 mwester: does your DSM-G600 use UDMA? Jan 18 18:42:52 nope. complains about the cable. Jan 18 18:43:50 I've been meaning to swap out the cable with a known-good 80-conductor cable, to see if it *really* is the cable, or if the on-board wiring is defective -- or perhaps if the logic in the driver is wrong. Jan 18 18:43:59 But I've never got round to it... Jan 18 18:49:16 mwester: I'm glad you're around so we can compare Jan 18 18:50:07 mwester: the cable in my dsm-g600 feels/looks like a 80-pin cable, but i get a message saying the same thing Jan 18 18:50:33 yep, same here. Jan 18 18:50:50 And I know the drive can do it, 'cause it did it in the 'puter I pulled it out of originally. Jan 18 18:51:08 So, swapping the cable is a simple test. Jan 18 18:54:49 mwester: so dmesg says it's using UDMA/33, but when I run hdparm it says, hdparm: HDIO_GET_DMA: Inappropriate ioctl for device Jan 18 20:21:17 Little new to the Nslu2 stuff have a question... I set-up my unit with the latest Unslung, eveything went fine. I however din not realize my USB Flash drive would be "prisoner" to the Nslu2. I've since picked up another Usb Flas Drive for this purpose and want to know how i can transer over to this new Flash drive or do I have to redo the setup process? Jan 18 20:24:24 dd on a linux box? Jan 18 20:25:32 Nope I have a Windows PC Jan 18 20:25:43 linux live cd? Jan 18 20:26:00 if you havent any data on the nslu2/much customisation Jan 18 20:26:07 unslining to a new disk would be probably quicker Jan 18 20:26:45 just do the unlsip portion of setup, no need to reflash Jan 18 20:27:52 Right? Jan 18 20:28:11 aye... Jan 18 20:28:30 Another quick question... Jan 18 20:28:57 I've been reading that the spindown script in unsling "sucks" Jan 18 20:29:39 should I bother with trying Debien or Slugos Jan 18 20:30:32 I've yet to setup the disks on it yet, but I'd rather not have to redo it all a 3rd time Jan 18 20:30:52 depends on what drives and such Jan 18 20:30:55 some spindown themselves Jan 18 20:32:11 Is there a list of disks I can referance or is it trial and error Jan 18 20:32:37 more the latter Jan 18 20:32:42 some are listed, but not many Jan 18 20:33:31 ok well I have to experiment, thanks Jan 18 21:28:04 mwester: I want to try using chrt, but I can't figure out how to add it to the busybox package Jan 18 21:38:36 Hi! I just got my NSLU2 and trying to install debian.. I just wonder if I'm supposed to have a usb stick inserted when starting the install via Putty? Jan 18 21:39:12 it's "loading additional components" at 46% right now Jan 18 21:41:00 most people do, but you should be alright plugging it in after loading the modules before detecting disks Jan 18 21:41:33 ok, thanks! Jan 18 22:01:41 when installing debian, is it suppose to be stuck at 46% for like 40min when loading additional components? Jan 18 23:16:15 hi all, is this the place to discuss optware packages for dd-wrt ? **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Jan 19 02:59:57 2009
