**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sat Feb 27 02:59:56 2010 Feb 27 19:30:19 guys, anyone advice best way of switching from debian slug to unslug Feb 27 19:45:01 start over Feb 27 19:46:49 yea, i am just wantitn to keep my hard drive data intact (ext 3 i believe) Feb 27 19:48:54 is that do-able? also any idea what unslung status is like these days. seen that no new version hs been released in long time... basicaly debain is fine for me, but having major trouble getting twonky on it and need it for 360 Feb 27 19:57:15 Not very likely that you can save the data with Unslung. You are moving the wrong direction; even if you could repartion to make Unslung recognize the drive, the ext3 version written out by debian is unlikely to be readable by something as ancient as Unslung. Certainly Unslung can no longer read ext3 fs written by recent Fedora hosts. Feb 27 19:58:07 And unslung has been frozen; it is simply too old to do much with, and (of course) Linksys has not done much of anything either. Feb 27 20:00:01 yea i moved up to debain to get the advanced features of it a long time ago.... i now hve 360 and ushare just isnt cutting the mustard in terms of 360 compatible upnp... i am just upgrading to latest update of lenny... and might try twonky now i have that. does anyone successfully have twoky running on debian here? Feb 27 21:28:24 anyone give me help with twony. folled this guide, ad just struggling on LAST point :Shttp://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5082&p=18420&hilit=nslu2+debian#p18420 Feb 28 00:10:47 guys, can anyone help me out with LIBC version and debootstrap? Feb 28 00:14:11 daveyboy: please be more specific Feb 28 00:16:05 trying to get twonky installed... have managed it but whe i run, i get error in line 97.... bit of googling, led me to this error:http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6086 Feb 28 00:19:28 looks like this version of twonky was compiled against old glibc (2.2.5) Feb 28 00:20:28 the best way forward would be to ask twonky to release a new build Feb 28 00:20:49 any other hack (such as symlinking) is risky Feb 28 00:20:53 yea....but twonky are no longer supporting it and all dev work has stopped Feb 28 00:21:26 that's too bad Feb 28 00:21:29 i saw about using the linkstation pro build might work (sheeva plug nyway)... would that be compatible with lsu2? Feb 28 00:21:49 it does not really matter which device Feb 28 00:21:53 yea big time... i am desperate to share content to 360 Feb 28 00:22:15 it's the version of glibc that's being used on debian Feb 28 00:22:56 so i might try that. i followed instructions for debootstrap but that didt work. im a linux noob so take it easy :) Feb 28 00:23:06 anything yu can think of that i could try? Feb 28 00:23:31 you might be able to get and old version of debian running under chroot Feb 28 00:23:54 s/and/an/ Feb 28 00:25:14 half way down this page it talks through that...http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6086 Feb 28 00:25:57 but i cant get the 1st step to work "Could not open lock file /var/cache/apt/archives/lock - open (2 No such file or directory)" ....when i trying to get debootstrap Feb 28 00:26:11 yeah, etch armel under chroot Feb 28 00:26:41 right..... :S Feb 28 00:27:22 any idea where to go with this? Feb 28 00:27:37 were you root when you run "apt-get install debootstrap" ? Feb 28 00:27:43 yup Feb 28 00:28:19 is that the only session using apt-get ? Feb 28 00:28:53 what you mean? i only got 1 instance of putty open Feb 28 00:28:54 these few command can even be run on x86 debian Feb 28 00:29:31 can you "apt-get install other_package"? Feb 28 00:30:18 some other package that you don't have right now Feb 28 00:30:38 ill just install sudo hang on Feb 28 00:30:44 for example, try "apt-get update; apt-get install sudo" Feb 28 00:31:02 (sudo might already be installed) Feb 28 00:31:35 no its not. and interestingly no i cant.... i have been installing stuff tonight. time for reboot? Feb 28 00:31:57 ah i think i know Feb 28 00:32:08 2 secs. think i deleted archieves folder accidentally Feb 28 00:33:29 yea thats problem... i just recreated archives folder, and got messge now that archives folder partial is missig Feb 28 00:34:17 mkdir -p /var/cache/apt/archives/partial Feb 28 00:34:21 as root Feb 28 00:34:32 its ok just done it Feb 28 00:34:54 just installing sudo, will try deboot in a sec Feb 28 00:36:10 :D right its nstalling that.... so at least im past the first stage. cant believe it was cos i nuked that folder. doh Feb 28 00:36:45 i guess if you want to free up some space, you should use "apt-get clean" Feb 28 00:37:01 lol yes i found that after :) Feb 28 00:37:10 im learning......slowly :D Feb 28 00:38:54 by way. purely out of intest, why does some installs refer to etch-root/ when we have it as just / Feb 28 00:39:35 the whole idea of chroot is to have an isolated environment Feb 28 00:39:51 physically it might be /home/username/etch-root Feb 28 00:40:10 for the program that runs under chroot, it maps to / Feb 28 00:40:33 ah right. i have edited one of twonky startup files to replace etch-root with my / path. will have to revert Feb 28 00:41:41 /home/username/etch-root/lib maps to /lib, etc. Feb 28 00:42:35 got you :) Feb 28 00:45:03 ahhh decisions... there is sale on at twonky. 50% off, but ends any mo..
