Nov 25 10:18:46 ehh sorry - didnt read the topic - i sould ask in#nslu2-general :) Nov 25 10:19:53 yup Nov 25 10:20:37 don't think i've used ipkg search so I cannot really help you anyway; i mostly do ipkg list php (or *php*, al always forget) Nov 25 10:20:59 hmm okay Nov 25 10:21:16 thanks anyway :) Nov 25 10:21:45 but.. is it true, that there is no php-module for apache in the openslug-tree? Nov 25 10:22:01 i can only find the cgi-version Nov 25 10:22:38 im just wondering because in the unslung-tree, i can find a apache-php Nov 25 10:26:53 last time i looked (a month or so ago) there was none, i was not very good at cross compiling and bitbake and friends so I compiled a module natively Nov 25 10:26:55 brb Nov 25 10:30:52 03rpurdie 07org.openembedded.dev * r3517427e... 10/packages/linux/ (4 files in 2 dirs): (log message trimmed) Nov 25 10:30:52 linux-oz-2.6: Updates to dev branch. Updated defconfigs to Nov 25 10:30:55 match LED changes and to attempt to keep spitz within the zaurus bootloader size Nov 25 12:00:51 hey guys, I want to install 'something' on my nslu2 this weekend, but I'm at a loss over the many choices. The FAQ is pretty useless, "WhichFirmwareShouldIUseFirst" says Unslung 5.5-beta and was last updated August 22! Nov 25 12:01:04 Since I know how active this community is, I bet that advise is outdated. Nov 25 12:01:20 My natural choice would be Debian (LE or BE), but is that the best choice? I think that twiki page "WhichFirmwareShouldIUseFirst" needs an update. It's the first page a newbie will turn to, and really outdated and without any interesting opinions. Nov 25 12:23:22 OpenSlug is maturing nicely; not so many packages but many unslung ones will run (watch out for /opt paths on unslung packages, though) That's what I'm switching to right now because Unslung didn't cut it. Nov 25 12:23:39 I need more flexibility. Actually the way I think of the nslu2 is like any other x86 machine, i.e. I would like to have a built environment, rebuild the kernel (on the nslu2?), install packages (pppd, ipsec). Nov 25 12:23:51 mwester, What is the relationship between OpenSlug and Debian (be or le)? Nov 25 12:24:47 I looked at debianslug (debonaras?) but it seems too early to be stable just yet, but looks to be the right diection longer term. OpenSlug, AFAIK is similar to Debian but is not an actual Debian release - the Debonaras project is trying to create a full Debian distro for the NSLU2 and similar devices Nov 25 12:27:10 Oh - the build env for both Unslung and Openslug is similar; all the gnu tools; works nicely actually. I've built most everything I've needed, the only problem is the dependencies for a lot of large packages are not necessarily pre-built, so one spends a lot of time chasing down and building dependant packages. Nov 25 12:45:43 mwester, ok, thanks for your help and answers! I think I will try Debonaras this weekend and see how it goes. At least I already soldered a serial cable (jtag) onto my nslu2 mainboard, so I should be ready no matter what happens :-)) Thanks again! Nov 25 13:19:06 wspraul: I think you'd be better off using an x86 machine to build the NSLU2 kernel, it would take a long time on the NSLU2 and there is no benefit over doing it on an x86 Nov 25 13:24:06 wspraul: openslug and debonaras currently share a common kernel but have different programs in their userland. I think openslug is probably better suited for people who only want a few programs and debonaras for those who want the wide variety that Debian offers Nov 25 14:03:18 ACTION Nov 25 18:21:03 03florian 07org.openembedded.dev * r5eb14943... 10/packages/gpe-bluetooth/gpe-bluetooth_0.47.bb: gpe-bluetooth: New release 0.47.
