**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Jan 17 02:59:56 2008 Jan 17 07:23:32 JRsup1: you need to rebuild the kernel package to get them back Jan 17 15:29:54 rwhitby: have you had any problems building since your last push? I have been getting errors on every attempt. I finally removed all the stamps to do a complete rebuild and I'm still erroring out. Jan 17 15:41:58 n/m fixed it. was stuck on the npe code for some reason Jan 17 17:44:15 help with 'make slugosbe-image'? Jan 17 22:24:42 rwhitby: are you online? I saw an email you just sent out, so I'm hoping you're on here too. Jan 17 22:24:50 yep Jan 17 22:26:30 I posted this to the IRC a while ago, but I'll post it again. I have been having troubles running a 'make slugosbe-image' since last night. I ran another 'make update' and then removed all of my stamps hoping for a complete rebuild. Now I'm getting this: Jan 17 22:26:41 console: http://rafb.net/p/rwxvSk43.html Jan 17 22:26:42 log.do_install.24442: http://rafb.net/p/37Zski76.html Jan 17 22:26:44 log.do_install.24446: http://rafb.net/p/u0uidj11.html Jan 17 22:29:20 JRsup1: did you rm -rf tmp/{work,stamps}/*/kernel* ? Jan 17 22:29:49 BTW, we don't use ixp4xx-kernel any more - how is that getting into your preferred version requirements? Jan 17 22:30:08 no idea. Jan 17 22:30:18 that may well be the root of your problems. Jan 17 22:30:19 on the second q. Jan 17 22:30:24 check local.conf files Jan 17 22:30:27 on the first one...let me check Jan 17 22:31:29 just went into tmp/stamps/ and ran rm -fr * Jan 17 22:31:41 do I need to wipe work too? Jan 17 22:32:41 only line in local.conf: PREFERRED_VERSION_ixp4xx-kernel = "2.6.23.8+svnr936" Jan 17 22:33:31 I think mwester had me put that in there last night. Can't remember though, would have to find an irc log from yesterday if it's hit the internet yet. Jan 17 22:37:24 that's incorrect Jan 17 22:37:30 remove that line and start again Jan 17 22:38:02 if you did need to do that, then use linux-ixp4xx, not ixp4xx-kernel (which is deprecated and will disappear soon) Jan 17 22:42:50 rwhitby: thanks, I'll give that a shot. Hopefully if I can manage a *working* build, I can start kernel customizations tonight or tomorrow. I'm trying to get a base working for now. Jan 17 22:43:21 what kernel changes are you planning? Jan 17 22:46:29 I am going to try and re-enable device side usb Jan 17 22:47:59 ok Jan 17 22:48:16 we'll add that to the standard kernel if you get it to work Jan 17 22:48:50 I've been trying on and off for over a year to get this working. I was using a really crappy server to work on this and finally got a 2.4.x based uClinux to work, but it was too stripped down for me to do much with it. I lost that setup a while back. I've been waiting for NSLU2-linux to use the new kernel since I heard it was going to support the nslu2's processor again for this. Jan 17 22:49:27 well...it still takes some hardware hacking and there still isn't a gpio, so it has to be done manually...but that's ok with me for now. Most people may still not want it. Jan 17 22:51:10 JRsup1: neither the DISK 1 nor DISK 2 leds is in use on SlugOS, so you could repurpose one of those. Jan 17 22:52:58 hmmm...I'll have to look into that. I'm afraid I'm moderate with electronics. I can follow directions alright and generally understand what's going on when I have specific directions, but I need to know more about GPIO's and how they work before attempting that. To my knowledge, aren't the led GPIO's output only? Jan 17 22:55:21 rwhitby: the make still failed. I just didn't get all of the 'preferred version 2.6.23.8+svnr936 of ixp4xx-kernel not available' errors this time. The other two errors still occurred. Do I need to wipe both stamps and work directories to do a proper 'full' rebuild? Jan 17 22:56:16 yes Jan 17 23:01:44 JRsup1: yes, the LEDs are set to outputs. But some relatively easy mods would remove one of the GPIOs from the set that the kernel sees as "LEDs", and re-assign it as an input. I'm not sure (from memory) if we could get an interrupt from that GPIO,though. Jan 17 23:02:31 BTW, yes I misinformed someone with the PREFERRED_VERSION stuff, but I though that rwhitby corrected my statement immediately. My apologies. Jan 17 23:03:31 mwester: that would be me...and he may have...if so, I missed it. No biggies... Jan 17 23:05:50 alright...cleared work and stamps...trying again. Jan 17 23:06:12 time to drive home! I'll be afk for a while. Jan 18 00:10:03 mwester: no probs - it's probably time for me to remove the ixp4xx-kernel package from OE now that linux-ixp4xx is stable Jan 18 01:44:56 hoping someone can confirm or deny this problem I am seeing Jan 18 01:45:00 V2.3R63-uNSLUng-6.8-beta Jan 18 01:45:19 when i use optware 'df' command (/opt/bin/df) Jan 18 01:46:21 df: swap: No such file or directory Jan 18 01:46:56 if i knew how to use ChatZilla better I could prolly give the full output Jan 18 01:47:23 !pastebin Jan 18 01:47:30 ~pastebin Jan 18 01:47:31 [~pastebin] A "pastebin" is a web-based service where you can paste anything over 3 lines without flooding the channel. Jan 18 01:49:05 ok now I can't hit enter on my ChatZilla, I have to click the 'enter' button on the side of the window Jan 18 01:49:16 can u help me fix that? Jan 18 01:49:47 nope :( I use x-chat Jan 18 01:50:09 ya i was thinkin u might say use another client Jan 18 01:50:13 :) Jan 18 01:51:55 http://pastebin.com/d50b2299f Jan 18 01:51:56 I'm a pragmatist - use what's available. Chatzilla has worked for me in the past; I just had to switch because another plugin that I need kept leaking memory and killing firefox, which would kill my IRC connection constantly. Jan 18 01:52:20 I appreciate that - that i me as well Jan 18 01:52:26 I think i used to use pirch Jan 18 01:52:31 paste the output from cat /etc/mount as well as the output from cat /proc/mounts Jan 18 01:52:43 s/mount/fstab/ Jan 18 01:52:43 mwester meant: paste the output from cat /etc/fstab as well as the output from cat /proc/mounts Jan 18 01:53:40 will do - but whats interesting is that this is /opt/bin/df. /bin/df gives no such errors, but of course it is the old school blocks only output Jan 18 02:22:14 http://pastebin.com/d455328b3 Jan 18 02:22:42 ok mwester - first is the 'opt' version output Jan 18 02:23:01 second is the linksys default df under /bin Jan 18 02:23:12 and the two outputs you requested Jan 18 02:23:34 its not even that important i guess Jan 18 02:24:13 but I wanted it fixed b/c i cant get the df in human readable on my two mounted disks, acomdata Jan 18 02:27:11 btw - dont know if u remember who i am - I was the guy considering mirroring my partitions... we talked like a week ago Jan 18 02:28:29 Ok, the /opt/bin/df is wrong. Just don't use it, or rename it to "df-" or such so that the busybox version gets found. Jan 18 02:28:47 (yes, I do remember our discussion - hope that all worked out for you) Jan 18 02:29:32 the problem with that is no -h option is available Jan 18 02:30:02 maybe its fixed in latest release? Jan 18 02:31:32 ~help Jan 18 02:31:44 Unslung 6.10-beta, you mean? Jan 18 02:31:50 yes Jan 18 02:32:12 i got v1.9.0 Jan 18 02:32:18 in my df Jan 18 02:33:02 http://pastebin.com/d81ff373 Jan 18 02:34:36 http://pastebin.com/d30349144 Jan 18 02:35:34 i want your box Jan 18 02:36:00 i haven't noticed anything else problematic except that... Jan 18 02:36:38 well that and ALL the /bin progs are old versions that can't handle files larger than 2GB Jan 18 02:37:47 i also dont seem to have an unslung file like you do Jan 18 02:38:36 n/m Jan 18 02:38:39 i do Jan 18 02:41:37 ~lobotomy Jan 18 02:41:39 I feel different somehow.
