**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Jun 16 02:59:56 2010 Jun 16 05:03:40 where can i find a list of packages available for SlugOS/LE? Jun 16 05:48:26 i can't find munin or zabbix. they are available for openwrt! Jun 16 06:51:47 munin or munin-node? Jun 16 07:17:45 munin-node Jun 16 07:17:49 and zabbix-agent Jun 16 16:01:36 i have checked the code-history. BUILD_WITH_LARGEFILE comes from openwrt-source, but now it isn't part of their code anymore. Jun 16 17:46:44 03robham * r11693 10optware/trunk/make/alsa-oss.mk: alsa-oss: static library problem fixed Jun 16 18:15:06 03robham * r11694 10optware/trunk/make/strace.mk: strace: control file moved into mk file Jun 16 18:32:55 03robham * r11695 10optware/trunk/make/gimp-print.mk: gimp-print: control file moved to mk file Jun 16 18:35:40 General note: SlugOS development builds will now switch to gcc 4.4.4 for the toolchain... and eglibc. FYI.\ Jun 16 18:35:52 Please report any bugs or problems. Jun 16 18:40:30 mwester, I am going to re-farm a couple of my slugs that I used for running the observatory (I'm hoping to make them Time Machine targets) so what would version would you recommend I use of SlugOS. Jun 16 18:44:00 5.3 is the most recent released version; aside from issues with libusb, it worked pretty well. 5.4-alpha isn't buildable any longer, due to changes in OE, and I just started working on 5.5 with the new toolchain (and may switch to THUMB as well) Jun 16 18:45:41 okay what are the issues with libusb? Jun 16 18:46:06 :) Doesn't work at all. Jun 16 18:46:13 yikes! Jun 16 18:46:14 okay Jun 16 18:46:38 is this patch incorporated: http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/DebianSlug/InstallDallasOneWire Jun 16 18:46:53 I grabbed the 5.4-alpha libusb stuff, and it worked fine with 5.3, but you'll have to rewind OE back a few months to get a 5.4-alpha that will build. Jun 16 18:47:25 okay. sounds good. Jun 16 18:47:44 I do not think that patch is included, but it hasn't broken my system. Jun 16 18:48:08 (it's a 5.4-alpha snapshot) Jun 16 18:48:43 I think the ow software I have talks through libusb, and doesn't use a kernel module. Jun 16 18:49:06 my old version uses libusb Jun 16 18:49:23 I'm willing to Alpha Test if you want. Jun 16 18:49:24 If you hold tight for little while (week or two?) I should have 5.5 beaten into shape enough that the basic stuff is tested, though. Jun 16 18:49:34 ya, Np Jun 16 18:50:21 Ok. I'll work to get the basics done shortly -- boot from flash, turnup to memstick or disk, and common packages in the feeds -- any preference to endian-ness? Jun 16 18:51:07 last I checked libusb was pretty broken for BE Jun 16 18:51:28 nobody bothered to make it endian safe :P Jun 16 18:51:41 wait till we start hitting mid-endianness. Jun 16 18:51:42 * mwester is considering switching to LE as the preferred development endianness, since most everything in ARM is LE, and LE is required for the Sheevaplug work anyway. Jun 16 18:51:53 right Jun 16 18:52:29 I still like network byte order but have to finally give into the endianness that all the new stuff is coming out in :P Jun 16 18:52:45 I wonder what eno does his development and testing on first, LE or BE? Jun 16 18:55:43 he would have to do both I would imagine. Jun 16 18:55:58 if they dont' build then most likely they aren't endian-safe anyways. Jun 16 18:56:16 so just delete them from the autobuilder for anythign that endianness. Jun 16 18:58:27 is libusb *still* broken in OE to the best of your knowledge? Jun 16 19:03:02 No, it was actually fixed a few months after SlugOS 5.3-beta released. Jun 16 19:05:47 hmmm....is there a separate package for that I can build? Jun 16 19:07:45 Not any more. There's a separate package, but you can't build SlugOS 5.4 anymore due to OE changes. In order to get it building, I had to change the toolchain, and its doubtful that the package built with the new toolchain will run with the old glibc. Jun 16 19:08:32 oh right...okay I'll wait for 5.5-alpha Jun 16 19:08:55 If someone had given us notice that they would break SlugOS totally, then I could have branched -- or at least tagged git. But they didn't, and I was travelling, and by the time I noticed it was a major problem, it was far too far gone to be easily fixed. That was a couple of months ago. Jun 16 19:09:25 So I'm really quite annoyed with the OE crowd. We even seeded some of them with NSLU2 devices, but NOBODY actually builds SlugOS to test their changes. Jun 16 19:09:47 Or pays any attention to our autobuilders, which are posting each build on the OESTATS server for everyone to check... Jun 16 19:09:54 No excuse - they just don't give a crap. Jun 16 19:10:19 ugh Jun 16 19:10:47 And my shitty job right now has me travelling way too much, and living behind draconian firewalls, so I've been really out-of-touch... all of which explains why I'm generally quite crabby these days. :P Jun 16 19:22:50 thats not fun either Jun 16 19:43:31 03robham * r11696 10optware/trunk/make/libtool.mk: libtool: control file moved to mk file Jun 16 20:10:41 03robham * r11697 10optware/trunk/make/centericq.mk: cntericq: build fixed for Nslu2, mk file updated similar to template Jun 16 20:28:10 03robham * r11698 10optware/trunk/make/libid3tag.mk: libid3tag: control file moved to mk file **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Jun 17 02:59:56 2010
