Jul 17 11:35:14 hi,, yes Jul 17 16:22:26 <[g2]> hey wookey :) Jul 17 16:22:45 <[g2]> vmaster ping Jul 17 16:26:54 <[g2]> have you guys heard about this ? http://www.olimex.com/dev/index.html Jul 17 16:27:03 <[g2]> vmaster I'd guess you'd be aware of this Jul 17 16:27:24 * prpplague looks Jul 17 16:27:55 [g2]: sparkfun is a rep for olimex Jul 17 16:28:02 <[g2]> nod Jul 17 16:28:02 [g2]: they sell alot of olimex products Jul 17 16:28:07 <[g2]> nod Jul 17 16:28:38 <[g2]> that space (the sparkfun space) seems to be heating up a lot, lots of cool, cheap gizmos coming out Jul 17 16:28:46 yea Jul 17 16:28:53 <[g2]> IMHO it's just the beginning Jul 17 16:28:55 [g2]: they have a forum where people suggest stuff Jul 17 16:28:58 [g2]: yea Jul 17 16:29:04 <[g2]> oh really ? Jul 17 16:29:11 yea Jul 17 16:29:33 you can discuss projects as well as suggestions for new products Jul 17 16:29:36 <[g2]> I was thinking about doing a couple different things Jul 17 16:29:47 <[g2]> 1) building a little hw like olimex/others do Jul 17 16:29:58 <[g2]> 2) adding Linux support for a lot of stuff Jul 17 16:32:21 oh yea? Jul 17 16:37:07 [g2]: what kind of stuff did you have in mind? Jul 17 16:39:44 <[g2]> prpplague oh just little boards and stuff Jul 17 16:39:59 <[g2]> are you familiar with their GPS stuff Jul 17 16:42:26 [g2]: sorry no, not in detail Jul 17 17:00:13 hey g2 Jul 17 17:01:34 yeah, i'm aware of olimex Jul 17 17:01:48 their ARM-USB-OCD should be available any time now Jul 17 17:04:08 [g2]: sparkfun even has a spot on their forum of openocd Jul 17 17:04:17 s/of/for Jul 17 17:04:50 yeah, Tsvetan from Olimex arranged that for me, as I was unhappy with the Berlios forum system Jul 17 17:36:18 <[g2]> vmaster is that ready to go ? Jul 17 17:36:35 the ARM-USB-OCD? Jul 17 17:38:12 <[g2]> yeah Jul 17 17:38:36 <[g2]> I've (we've) talked about this _forever_ but really didn't complete it Jul 17 17:38:43 <[g2]> looks like olimex ran with the ball Jul 17 17:38:45 <[g2]> :) Jul 17 17:38:47 <[g2]> or :( Jul 17 17:38:51 <[g2]> heh Jul 17 17:39:12 well, afaik it's just a FT2232C plus the level shifters Jul 17 17:42:27 <[g2]> Ok, nod. Jul 17 17:42:35 <[g2]> I was hoping it would run faster Jul 17 17:47:39 [g2-build]: you and me both Jul 17 17:47:55 <[g2]> hi Griffon26 Jul 17 17:48:02 oops =] Jul 17 17:48:07 hi there =] Jul 17 17:48:17 <[g2]> welcome to openjtag Jul 17 17:48:25 thanks Jul 17 17:48:34 <[g2]> have you been here long ? Jul 17 17:48:38 couple of days? Jul 17 17:48:44 <[g2]> cool Jul 17 17:48:59 * [g2] guesses you are doing some ARM development Jul 17 17:49:03 nope Jul 17 17:49:04 MIPS Jul 17 17:49:14 <[g2]> Ok cool Jul 17 17:49:21 * [g2] sends condolendces :) Jul 17 17:49:32 hehe Jul 17 17:49:44 currently using Ashling probe Jul 17 17:49:53 trying to bring up the board we made Jul 17 17:50:14 <[g2]> neat, can you say what kind of board ? Jul 17 17:50:17 50% of the time we spend on figuring out why the damn probe doesn't work Jul 17 17:50:48 * [g2] can't imagine why you're looking for something else :) Jul 17 17:51:07 the main processor is a Philips PNX8550, it has a Xilinx Virtex-4 and some other processors Jul 17 17:55:07 now if only I could put together a probe that could do JTAG at 10MHz or something Jul 17 17:55:44 heh, your board looks right the probe job, seeing that virtex-4 Jul 17 17:56:14 hehe... use the board as a probe to download code onto the board Jul 17 17:57:44 hmm.. that would be fun though... use one board as a probe for others Jul 17 17:58:25 <[g2]> Griffon26 V4 high-end stuff Jul 17 17:58:39 [g2]: ? Jul 17 17:58:51 <[g2]> Xilinx V4 is high-end stuff Jul 17 17:59:30 i wouldn't know. I program the mips =] Jul 17 17:59:55 <[g2]> I'd guess the Philips datasheets are probably pretty open Jul 17 18:00:04 <[g2]> they are not like BCM Jul 17 18:00:13 yeah, especially if you're part of philips Jul 17 18:00:16 ;-) Jul 17 18:01:05 hehehe Jul 17 18:02:01 <[g2]> lol Jul 17 18:06:05 btw, do you happen to know anything about mentor graphics and the tools they have for PCB design? Jul 17 18:07:53 it's expensive Jul 17 18:08:07 but i guess you knew that Jul 17 18:08:15 well, I don't have to worry about that =] Jul 17 18:10:13 AchiestDragon might know more, he talked about ordering mentor software Jul 17 18:10:17 ah, and there he is Jul 17 18:10:42 no here as well Jul 17 18:10:53 today I saw a netlist that was generated by one of those tools and there was an error in it: two nets were separate because of a typo in naming of the pins. In the schematics I could see that that error should have been automatically detected. Now I was wondering if 1) there is something that can be enabled in the application to detect problems like this and 2) there is a (text) file format that still contains the information from the sch Jul 17 18:11:04 been typing that sentence for the last minute and a half =] Jul 17 18:11:58 i not had a chance to have a look at it yet ,, but from what im told its not that good for manualy routing things with Jul 17 18:12:31 but that's not what I was talking about, is it? Jul 17 18:12:59 (I know next to nothing about hardware design, so forgive me if i make no sense) Jul 17 18:13:30 1 min **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Jul 18 02:59:56 2006
