**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Jul 22 02:59:56 2010 Jul 22 06:34:00 Good morning. I've just (manually) added a bugfix to a .ipk file. Is there a way to let opkg use this modified .ipk file without having to make a local repository (as in: web host) somewhere? Jul 22 06:39:44 christ_: i do not know if opkg supports file:// urls or just local filesystem pathes, but i can suggest you to try thttpd if you need the simplest to set up and run httpdaemon. It's really as easy as running one single command in the directory you want to share. Jul 22 06:43:57 christ_: just copy it to the device and do 'opkg install file.ipk' Jul 22 06:44:16 works fine, but you may have to remove the already installed version first Jul 22 06:54:12 blindcoder: opkg says 'md5 checksum mismatch'. Is the md5 checksum part of the file name? I couldn't find anything inside the package containing an MD5 checksum. Jul 22 06:58:33 christ_: the md5 checksum is in /var/lib/opkg/something Jul 22 06:58:41 christ_: I forgot: Jul 22 06:59:02 christ_: either change the version number in the .ipk or remove the metainformation for that package-version combo from /var/lib/opkg/* Jul 22 06:59:24 christ_: alternatively just delete /var/lib/opkg/* then install your ipk then opkg update Jul 22 07:01:30 christ_: or better mv /var/lib/opkg /var/lib/opkg_orig; opkg install file.ipk; mv /var/lib/opkg_orig /var/lib/opkg Jul 22 07:06:23 blindcoder: For some reason, the postinst didn't run. And, I had to create some directories by hand. All in all, I just copied the postinst from my desktop to the FR and ran it there. It was the 'flash kernel to nand' step that failed for me. But, this has worked, so I'm happy for now. Jul 22 07:07:43 So, I now have the correct kernel in NAND, let's reboot! Jul 22 07:08:59 * blindcoder hides somewhere ;) Jul 22 07:32:35 Come out, come out, whereever you are! Jul 22 07:32:59 Anyway, the reboot succeeded, I am now looking at a home screen, waiting for an automatic suspend... Jul 22 08:25:31 JaMa that SHR-testing sorts contacts case-sensitively: Kasdflkj and Ksdgdio are in the middle but kasdfölsd and ksdgsdölk in the end..... Jul 22 08:26:11 btw so does the home view with icons.. Jul 22 08:30:13 Also, in the 'Contacts' list, not every letter of the English alphabet is in the right-hand column. Why not? Jul 22 08:30:36 Do you have a name for every letter of the English alphabet? Jul 22 08:31:12 Also, it would be nice to be able to type some letters, and then scrolling to or filtering on those 'snippets'. Actually, I _do_ have a contact for almost every letter. Jul 22 08:32:21 FxChiP: even if you do, it doesn't show them all Jul 22 08:32:30 I've imported my GMail contacts into SHR (with Pisi). Lots of them without phone #, true, but it is still a big list. When I want to see the contacts with 'I', and I can only select 'H' or 'J', that's not easy. Jul 22 08:32:38 oh Jul 22 08:32:40 fair enough then Jul 22 08:32:44 Might be because of space. Not fatal, but would be handy to have them all Jul 22 08:33:26 640 pixels/26 letters = 24 pixels per letter. Also, they zoom as they are, so I guess it would be possible... Jul 22 08:34:06 true Jul 22 08:34:22 Somewhere I've seen them in two columns.. Was it SHR or qtmoko or what, can't remember.. Jul 22 08:39:07 I need to be careful when scrolling in my list... doing it while the list is being built results in a crash. Maybe I should report that as well ;-) Jul 22 08:40:20 lowercase alpha is sorted below the Z... Jul 22 08:40:51 yep, noticed both too.. Jul 22 08:46:14 christ_: I should remember you that there are not only english letters in the world. Jul 22 08:47:07 remind Jul 22 08:47:49 Oh, I know... But since _at the moment_ it's only about half of the alphabet, it isn't very useful to those that (mostly) only use English letters). And,indeed, not at all for people using something entirely different. Jul 22 08:48:45 christ_: also I should tell that there might be a big mix of various alphabets in the contacts Jul 22 08:49:27 christ_: the better idea is to put there higher frequent letters but as much as possible. Jul 22 08:49:46 and not more than some max number possible Jul 22 08:50:43 Would perhaps be a better idea, yeah... Jul 22 08:51:57 http://www.ohmenerves.com/2007/06 , I'll re-try getting SHR to build, so that I can actively help. Jul 22 08:53:30 christ_: good thing :) Jul 22 08:53:54 I know, I know... Jul 22 08:54:01 I'll do it in my copious spare time. Jul 22 09:29:53 * |if3 changes away reason from "I'm afk!" to "I'm afk!" Jul 22 09:31:49 |if3: i guess you want to reconfigure you irc client a little Jul 22 10:04:15 He's using telepathy to change his away reason, so he's _technically_ afk. Jul 22 14:09:55 Time to go home. I'll see if/when I get time to join SHR... Jul 22 15:15:12 i have GTA02v6 . after being powered off for days battery dries out. Jul 23 00:07:49 2.8 meg kernel hmm whatisit? Jul 23 00:11:57 * |if3 changes away reason from "I'm afk!" to "I'm afk!" Jul 23 00:54:25 htc dream images Jul 23 00:55:02 anybody porting to the sheevaPlug? Jul 23 02:12:16 * |if3 changes away reason from "I'm afk!" to "I'm afk!" Jul 23 02:16:04 * SpeedEvil stabs the author of |if3s client. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Fri Jul 23 02:59:56 2010
